  • Facial expression is an effective tool to express human emotion. In this paper, a facial expression analysis method based on the base faces and their blending ratio is proposed. The seven base faces were chosen as axes describing and analyzing arbitrary facial expression. We set up seven facial expressions such as, surprise, fear, anger, disgust, happiness, sadness, and expressionless as base faces. Facial expression was built by fitting generic 3D facial model to facial image. Two comparable methods, Genetic Algorithms and Simulated Annealing were used to search the blending ratio of base faces. The usefulness of the proposed method for facial expression analysis was proved by the facial expression synthesis results.

  • Women's social status is marginal in the patriarchal system, therefore it is not easy to express their's desire. Women's social role are restricted by the Confucian culture in the late of Chosun Dinasty. But women freely expressed their's gamseong(感性) by singing the folk songs. Many researches have focused on the reality of life or the structure and meanings of the women's folk songs. On the contrary, no one has paid attention to the gamseong in the women's folk songs. This is the reason why this thesis focused on the aspects of gamseong in the women's folk songs. The aspect of gamseong expression in women's folk songs can be classfied as follow: HAN(恨) resulting from living with one's husband's parents (Si-jip-sa-ri); LONGING caused by parting with the lover; HOPE due to childbirth and bringing up; SHIN-MYOUNG(神明) through deviation and liberation. In conclusion, We can find out women's gamseong would be formed from the their own roles and relationship with the others. Besides they could offset their sorrow and cure their pain through loving others and selfloving.

  • The emotion plays a critical role in human's daily life including learning, action, decision and communication. In this paper, emotion discrimination classifier is designed to reduce system complexity through reduced selection of dominant features from biosignals. The photoplethysmography(PPG), skin temperature, skin conductance, fontal and parietal electroencephalography(EEG) signals were measured during 4 types of movie watching associated with the induction of neutral, sad, fear joy emotions. The genetic algorithm with support vector machine(SVM) based fitness function was designed to determine dominant features among 24 parameters extracted from measured biosignals. It shows maximum classification accuracy of 96.4%, which is 17% higher than that of SVM alone. The minimum error features selected are the mean and NN50 of heart rate variability from PPG signal, the mean of PPG induced pulse transit time, the mean of skin resistance, and ${\delta}$ and ${\beta}$ frequency band powers of parietal EEG. The combination of parietal EEG, PPG, and skin resistance is recommendable in high accuracy instrumentation, while the combinational use of PPG and skin conductance(79% accuracy) is affordable in simplified instrumentation.

  • This study aims to explore the 'affective value' of records. Traditionally, records have been evaluated as having evidence value, information value, and artificial value. However, the 'affective turn' in the humanities and social sciences, which began in the 1990s, calls for discussion on the affective value of records. The overseas archive academia is in full swing discussing the emotional value of records after the 'affective turn'. However, there is no emotional discussion on records in the domestic archive academia. This study first conducts theoretical discussions to overcome these domestic limitations and explore the emotional value of archives in earnest. Following the theoretical discussion, a specific case will be dealt with next. As a representative storage of affect, which records the pain, sadness, and condolences of the domestic disaster era, this study investigates the record management case of the 4.16 Memory Storage. The Ferry Sewol disaster, which provided a dramatic opportunity to witness the unexpected ripple effect of affect in Korea, and the 4.16 Memory Storage as a recording activity, can be seen as a representative example of affective recording of the pain and sadness of survivors of the trauma incident. It will capture the differentiation of affet recording, which is different from the record management practice, and demonstrate empirically how this differentiation is implemented from collection to evaluation and service through the '4.16 Memory Storage'.

  • Human facial expression shows human's emotion most exactly, so it can be used as the most efficient tool for delivering human's intention to computer. For fast and exact recognition of human's facial expression on a 2D image, this paper proposes a new method which integrates an Discrete Adaboost classification algorithm and a neural network based recognition algorithm. In the first step, Adaboost algorithm finds the position and size of a face in the input image. Second, input detected face image into 5 Adaboost strong classifiers which have been trained for each facial expressions. Finally, neural network based recognition algorithm which has been trained with the outputs of Adaboost strong classifiers determines final facial expression result. The proposed algorithm guarantees the realtime and enhanced accuracy by utilizing fastness and accuracy of Adaboost classification algorithm and reliability of neural network based recognition algorithm. In this paper, the proposed algorithm recognizes five facial expressions such as neutral, happiness, sadness, anger and surprise and achieves 86~95% of accuracy depending on the expression types in real time.

  • In this paper, it is proposed an effective face expression recognition LDA mixed mode using a triangularity membership fuzzy function and wavelet basis. The proposal algorithm gets performs the optimal image, fuzzy wavelet algorithm and Expression recognition is consisted of face characteristic detection step and face Expression recognition step. This paper could applied to the PCA and LDA in using some simple strategies and also compares and analyzes the performance of the LDA mixed model which is combined and the facial expression recognition based on PCA and LDA. The LDA mixed model is represented by the PCA and the LDA approaches. And then we calculate the distance of vectors dPCA, dLDA from all fates in the database. Last, the two vectors are combined according to a given combination rule and the final decision is made by NNPC. In a result, we could showed the superior the LDA mixed model can be than the conventional algorithm.

  • It can be assumed that the reasons why the animation characters, 'Olaf (in Frozen Kingdom)' and 'Minions (in Super Bad)', etc., which were very successful in the merchandising market while having won the popularity better than the main characters are very popular even though such characters appeared only by playing a funny role while assisting the adventures of the main characters are not only because of their cute appearances but also because such characters have their own core features in their inner world as the transitional object-characters. Simply expressing, a 'Transitional Object' as a concept suggested by a child psychologist, 'Donald Winnicott', means a lovey doll or an imaginary friend which temporarily replaces an infant's mother during the procedure when the infant is mentally separated from its mother. However, in case that the theory of transitional objects was applied directly to many narrative content characters for doing a study, there must have been done some studies in advance for establishing some new criteria and indexes related to the transitional object-characters of such narrative contents. Accordingly, while thinking that the 'emotional relationship' between a growth-subject and a growth mediator must be dealt with as the most important content in order to define a transitional object-character in a narration clearly, this researcher established some emotional index for judging the propensities of a transitional object-character on the basis of such way of thinking. The index is composed of 4 kinds of emotional roles (quasi-family member, growth mediator, lovey doll, an imaginary friend), 6 kinds of emotional supports (hugging, protecting, accepting, giving the initiative, improving the relationship and mutual supervising) and 4 kinds of emotional impressions (impression by contacting, impression to protect and impression accepting an attack). In case that some main characters of a family feature animation, 'Inside Out', are analyzed while the index mentioned above is applied, it was found that 'Bing Bong' and 'Sadness' have a high propensity as a transitional object-character. Especially, it could be inversely inferred in which ways some good transitional object-characters can help the narrations on growth of a family feature animation by taking a look at the character, 'Sadness' that has the highest propensity as a transitional object-character. The transitional object-character, 'Sadness' assists the narration on growth internally and externally by helping the internal maturity of a growth-subject in a way of projecting the tasks for the internal maturity of a growth-subject while helping the growth-subject to be successfully externally in a way of providing the growth-subject with some kinds of facilitating emotion. As the results from this Study, since such kinds of emotional experiences provided by such transitional object-characters are displaced to not only the relevant growth-subjects but also the audience who are emphasized with such growth-subjects as they are, such transitional object-characters play a role of hidden benefactors who induce some immersion into the narrations and provide child and adult audience with various layers of emotional satisfaction.

  • As for comics and animation, the specific gravity came to become still larger in all the art fields together with the importance in various image media now which is useful and goes the time of the 21st century new media. Especially the demand of users to the vision culture which develops day by day, Sensitivity Engineering Department is trying to realize the necessity for a sensitivity design acutely together. The influence of the comics which have toxicity most also in Japanese culture in a geographical position like South Korea on it, and animation is the actual condition in the reason which has reached from youth universally to the layer for years, to be inquired systematic to a Korean comics language. This reserch was conducted as we thought sufficient study on various situations are required, and among them, for the reserch of expressions of cartoons's characters, we've divided the expressions of characters that comes out in Japanese cartoons into catagories of "happiness, anger, sadness, pleasure" and "fear, astonishment and dislike" and based on these catagories, we've drawn out the minimum elements to express emotions in cartoon and prepared image-map by relating them with languages that express emotions of people and based on this, we've made a calculating tools on how our readers would read the expression languages. Samples of Japanese cartoons of which we've chosen for the purpose of drawing out the elements of expressions were limited to only published cartoons and we've made a foot steps for expression analysis of animation characters in the future.
