An Efficient Scheduling Scheme for Bluetooth Piconets (블루투스 피코넷을 위한 효율적 스케줄링 기법)

  • Communication between Bluetooth devices is based on TDD by a master unit. In this discipline, the transmission of slave packets can be made only when the master transmits a packet to the slave. Thus, some slots may be wasted when there is no user data in the master's or slave's queue due to the transmission of a POLL or NULL packet. Therefore a scheduling scheme which can minimize the slot waste is required in Bluetooth intra-piconet communication. However, since the master is responsible for the intra-piconet scheduling, it must be provided with an information on each slave's queue length to apply traditional scheduling schemes. which is impossible in Bluetooth. This paper presents a new Bluetooth intra-piconet scheduling scheme that is efficient and does not require the information on each slave's queue length. The scheduling is done based on the information about the existence of data in the master and slave queues which is derived by the master identifying the type of packets transmitted. The master schedules to communicate with the slaves according to the priorities determined based on this information. We Presents simulation results which indicate a significant improvement in the performance when our proposed scheme is used.

The Design of Planar Beam Tilt Antenna for Satellite up-link Communication in Ka-band (Ka-band 위성통신 up-link 용 평면형 빔틸트 안테나의 설계)

  • Because the installation problem of parabola antenna that is tilted to 45 degree when this antenna is installed at the area of middle latitude, the study on planar antenna in place of parabola antenna is made rapid progess. Especially, The development of the planar antenna for VSAT is needed depending on the increased Ka-band satellite communications. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. Especially, for the lower sidelobe level, the design method of the radiation power distribution control using the different slot widths is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 32 leakywave waveguide antennas is showing 35.16 dBi of gain, 2.5 degree of beamwidth at azimuth, below than -30 dB of sidelobe level, 45.8 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency 30.2 GHz.

A Study on the Characteristics of Wing Tip Shapes for Induce Drag Reduction (유도항력 감소를 위한 날개끝 형상 특성에 관한 연구)

  • 공기의 흐름 중에 있는 유한 날개의 끝에서는 날개끝 와류로 인하여 날개에 내리흐름(downwash)이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 내리흐름은 유도항력을 발생시켜 양항특성이 감소하게 된다. 따라서 날개끝 와류를 적절히 제어하면 어느 정도 유도항력을 감소시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 직사각형 날개와 테이퍼형 날개 끝에 여러 가지 형상의 strake를 장착하거나, 날개끝 와류를 제어하기 위하여 여러 개의 slot을 형성시켰을 때의 양항특성을 실험 및 수치해석으로 연구한 결과를 기술하였다. 실험결과 직사각형 날개끝에 장착한 wing tip strake의 밑변을 바깥쪽으로 절단한 wing tip strake의 양항특성이 받음각 $8^{\circ}$ 이상에서 우수하였고, 반면에 밑변을 절단하지 않은 경우는 받음각 $0^{\circ}\;^{\sim}\;8^{\circ}$ 사이에서 기본날개보다 양항비가 증가하였다. 테이퍼형 날개끝에 wing tip strake를 장착하였을 때의 양항비는 받음각 전 범위에 걸쳐 기본날개보다 증가하였으며, 받음각$8^{\circ}$ 이상에서 wing tip strake의 밑변을 절단하지 않은 wing tip strake의 양항특성이 우수하였다. 방사형 다중슬롯의 경우 날개끝의 앞전보다 뒷전 쪽에 형성시키는 것이 양항비특성이 우수하였다.

A Study on MAC Protocol for Packet Data Service in Slotted CDMA Environment (Slotted CDMA 환경에서 패킷 데이터 서비스를 위한 MAC 프로토콜 연구)

  • This paper proposes a transmission probability control scheme and MAC protocol for packet data services in slotted CDMA system. In slotted CDMA system, multiple access interference is the major factor of unsuccessful packet transmissions. Therefore, in order to obtain the optimal system throughput, the number of simultaneously transmitted packets should be kept at a proper level. In the proposed protocol, the base station calculates the packet transmission probability of mobile stations according to the offered load and then broadcasts it. Mobile stations, which have a packet, attempt to transmit packet with the received probability. Numerical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme can offer better system throughput than the conventional one, and guarantee a good fairness among all mobile stations regardless of the offered load.

  • MAC(Medium Access Control) is demanded to provide end-to-end QoS(Quality of Service) for a variety of traffic in the wireless networks. When all the traffic is integrated in the channel, the main difficulty of the MAC protocol is how to efficiently support multi-class traffic in the limited bandwidth wireless channel. In this paper, we proposed the dynamic bandwidth slot method for improving QoS of the real time traffics. In this paper, we used in-band scheme to send dynamic parameter and considering buffer size and delay variation, we enabled 2 state bits to send to base station in mobile station. The proposed algorithm is to guarantee QoS of real time traffic and maximize transfer efficiency in wireless networks.

  • This paper proposes and analyzes a new media access control (MAC) scheduling algorithm, “Interleaved Polling with Deficit Round Robin (IPDRR)” that supports weighted fairness among ONUs in Ethernet Passive Optical Network (PON). The purpose of the proposed IPDRR algerian is not only to eliminate the unused bandwidth of upstream ONU traffic, but also to provide weighted fair sharing of upstream bandwidth among ONUs in Ethernet PON systems. Simulation results show that the IPDRR improves the utilization of upstream channel by removing the unused bandwidth and provides weighted fairness among ONUs, although the IPACT scheduling is unfair according to traffic characteristics.

  • CDMA technique has been largely focused for Wireless Data Communication and Personal Communication Network. ALOHA protocol also has been proven to be effective for Packet Radio Radio Network regardless of low throughput due to channel collisions. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of MS-CDMA-ALOHA (Mini-Slotted-CDMA-ALOHA) system, by analytic and simulation method. The superiority of the MS-CDMA-ALOHA system over conventional Slotted ALOHA and Slotted-CDMA-ALOHA systems are clearly demonstrated for throughput, delay and stability performances.

Dynamic Backoff Scheme for CDMA-based Packet Radio Networks (CDMA 기반 패킷 무선망에서 동적 백오프 기법)

  • This paper proposes an access control algorithm for guaranteeing fair packet transmissions in CDMA-based slotted ALOHA systems. In the proposed algorithm, the base station calculates the packet transmission and retransmission probabilities based on the offered loads and then broadcasts these probabilities to all mobile stations. Mobile stations, which have a packet to transmit, attempt to transmit a packet with the received probabilities. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can offer better system throughput and average delay than the conventional algorithm. Results also show that the proposed algorithm can guarantee a good fairness among all mobile stations regardless of the offered loads.

  • This paper presents the routing and wavelength and timeslot assignment problems for a circuit-switched time division multiplexed (TDM) wavelength-routed networks. In this paper, we propose an efficient distributed control protocol for establishing lightpath dynamically. The protocol uses backward reservation to reduce the chance of blocking. We use aggressive reservation method with usable multiple channels and select only one in multiple channel. We show through simulation that the proposed protocol improves the success rate in TDM-based lightpath establishment and the proposed aggressive reservation method improve blocking probability with appropriate reservation channel count.

  • In this paper, we propose the AMBM(: Adaptive Multi-channel Backoff Machisum) -Mac protocol to provide high throughput for non-safety applications in VANET(: Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks) environment. The proposed protocol guarantees the quality of service of non-safety packets by dynamically adjusting CW(: Channel Window) of WSA(: WAVE Service Advertisement) to maximize throughput between non-safety packets of different priority. It also shows that allocating a large amount of time for channel coordination and time slot reservation for SC and dynamically adjusting CW and CCI as nodes increase to reduces transmission delay than IEEE 1609.9, C-MAC(: Coordinated multi-channel MAC, and Q-VCI(: QoS Variable CCH Interval) protocols.
