A Priority-based Time Slot Allocation Protocol for Hybrid MAC in WSNs (WSN에서 하이브리드 MAC을 위한 우선순위기반 타임 슬롯 할당 프로토콜)

  • Nodes in WSNs must operate under limited energy resource. Controlling access to the channel in WSNs plays a key role in determining channel utilization and energy consumption. This paper introduces a priority-based time slot allocation protocol for hybrid TDMA/CSMA MAC in WSNs. This protocol combines both TDMA and CSMA techniques while introducing prioritization by (m,k)-firm constraint. The performance of this protocol is obtained through simulations for various number of nodes and show significant improvements in delay and packet delivery ratio compared to S-MAC.

  • In this paper characteristics of ATM-PON is described and a TC layer controller for ATM-PON OLT is designed. This paper proposes an algorithm of economically controlling the grant information written by CPU to dynamically allocate the upstream bandwidth on the PON among the ONUs in a fair way and of encrypting the downstream data using a lower standard of encryption, termed data churning, which is used to distinguish it from existing transmission system scramblers and higher layer encryption methods. This paper also proposes a method of allocating churning-related message into the PLOAM cell in order to synchronously change the churning key between the OLT and the ONU.

  • In this paper, we propose a coordinator-based reader protocol that can avoid reader collisions in a passive RFID system. In a proposed protocol, unlike conventional protocols that a reader itself selects its own slot randomly to communicate with tags such as DCS, Colorwave, a coordinator reader allocates an unused slot to a reader to participate in the network and sends a current slot number. A reader allocated a slot can communicate with tags. The proposed protocol can adaptively modified to apply for multiple coordinator readers environment in a wide area. This causes reader collision problem, but can be alleviated partly by applying the frequency planning. In this way, we verifies that a RFID system using the proposed protocol is three to five times better than existing systems through the simulation.

  • Network of these days, A transmission medium of information is replaced from electric signal to optical signal to accept various and increased network traffic. In this paper, we develop simulation program using AweSim and simulate EPON system as a high-speed optical subscriber network with various conditions. The effects of number of ONUs, effects of network load and effects of slot assignment schemes have been evaluated. The simulation results show that slot assignment schemes and number of ONUs is major factor of network performance. The variable-number slot scheme is more efficient than fixed-length slot scheme in the traffic processing.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive multislot allocation algorithm in order to achieve larger system capacity and higher throughput data transmissions. The proposed system is the combination of the slow adaptive modulation system, in which the base station dynamically assigns optimum modulation parameters measuring the SNR of each transmission terminal, and the multislot allocation scheme, in which the base station flexibly allocates an appropriate number of TDMA data slots according to the instantaneous load conditions. Computer simulations confirm that the proposed system can tremendously improve average message delay characteristics in comparison with the conventional fixed slot allocation method.

  • PBMA_DP 프로토콜은 우선순위에 따른 수락 확률을 변화시켜준다. 수락 확률수치는 요구슬롯(R-slot)의 개수에 영향을 받는다. 따라서 부하가 많아지면 R-slot의 개수를 줄이고, 부하가 적어지면R-slot의 개수를 늘려 성능의 향상을 꾀할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 동적으로 R-slot의 개수를 바꾸어주는 알고리즘 두 가지를 제안한다. R-slot위치는 고정시키고 개수만 변화시키는 방식과 R-slot 위치를 변화시키면서 개수도 변화시키는 방식이다. 또한 단말의 개수를 예측하는 방법에 대해 간단히 설명한다. 위의 두 방식에 대한 모의 실험을 시행하여 성능분석을 행한다.

  • Ethernet passive optical network(EPON) is the next-generation technology for supporting services of high-quality at low-cost. In the EPON, all optical network units(ONUs) have to share a limited uplink channel for upstream data. In order to satisfy bandwidth demands of users on high-capacity local access networks(LANs), the optical line terminal(OLT) efficiently divides and allocates time slots of uplink channel to all ONUs. We discuss previous schemes for dynamic bandwidth allocation(DBA), such as interleaved polling with adaptive cycle time(IPACT) and sliding cycle time(SLICT). In this paper, dynamic right sizing of maximum-windows(DRSM), as a novel bandwidth allocation service, is proposed for more effective and efficient time slot allocation of the uplink channel. DRSM which is based on past information of bandwidth allocated by OLT calculates maximum available bandwidth and dynamically alters the maximum window size for the next ONU. This scheme does not only exert every effort to meet bandwidth demands of ONUs with the possible scope, it also seeks fairness of bandwidth allocation among ONUs.

  • In the RFID system, A collision occurs when the multiple tags transmit at the concurrent in slot. Reduce conflicts, in order to maximize the efficiency of the system, the number of tags with the same number of slots are allocated. the number of slots to the next frame determined by the number of contention tags. In this paper, it estimate the number of tags based on the DFSA. Analyzed the performance of the system by the initial set number of tags through simulation.

  • Fixed frame size is used in the RFID system with the frame-based slot ALOHA algorithm. Therefore, it is anticipated that the tag identification performances will highly depend on the number of tags within the reader's identification range and the frame size. In this paper, we propose a tag number estimation scheme and analyze the performance with the computer simulations. The proposed scheme is based on the status of slots that the tags respond during a query round as well as the probabilistic calculations.

  • In this paper, we designed a dynamic TDMA scheme for smooth tactical data distribution in TDMA tactical datalinks. Since the existing tactical datalinks use fixed time radio resources, it is impossible to change the resource status according to network conditions during operation. To overcome these limitations, we designed, implemented, and simulated the DTDMA processing and related messages such as initial timeslot allocation, intermediate time slot allocation, time slot return, and timeslot retrieval. As a result, it was shown that the method of effectively allocating and using timeslot resources according to the situation is applicable. Therefore, we will continue research to manage DTDMA communication on tactical data link in the future.
