  • Inorganic stiffening agents were prepared by mixing paper sludge incineration ash, blast furnace slag fine powder quicklime, anhydrous gypsum and fly ash. The main components of the solidifying agent developed for sludge treatment were SiO, $Al_2O_3$, $TiO_2$, $Fe_2O_3$, $Mn_2O_3$, CaO, MgO, $Na_2O$, $K_2O$, $P_2O$, and $SO_3$. Unlike cement, the developed solidifying agent did not contain $Cr^{6+}$, which is known as a carcinogen. Heavy metals and oil contaminated soil were mixed with solidifying agent and cured for 7 days and the heavy metal content was below the environmental standard. Sewage sludge cake, food waste and solidifying agent were mixed with each other, and after 7 days curing, soil component test showed that the heavy metal content was below the environmental standard. After mixing the sludge, solidifying agent and additive mixture into the beaker, the ammonia concentration was measured to be 0 after 3 days.

  • In this paper, the engineering properties and estimation of drying shrinkage of concrete incorporating fly ash (FA), blast furnace slag (BS) and cement kiln dust (CKD) were discussed. FA, BS and CKD contents ranged from 0% to 20%. Water to binder ratio (W/B) also ranged from 40 to 50 %, with a 5% interval. For estimating drying shrinkage, an exponential model proposed by the author was applied, According to results, the use of FA, BS and CKD resulted in a decrease of flowability and air contents. As expected, the use of admixtures also decreases the early age strength of concrete, while at later age, due to a pozzolanic reaction of FA and BS, the compressive strength was recovered to a value comparable with that of plain concrete. For drying shrinkage, the use of admixtures led to an increase in the drying shrinkage of concrete. The exponential model suggested by the author showed good agreement between the calculated and experimental values both at early age and at later age.

  • In this study, the degree of deterioration of concrete was investigated in the laboratory under conditions of carbonation and freeze-thaw cycling, which are the major causes of the deterioration of its performance. In this test, the carbonated concrete was subjected to combined freeze-thaw deterioration tests for up to 300 cycles, and its dynamic elastic modulus and compressive strength were measured. The evaluation of the effect of the water-binder ratio on normal concrete subjected to combined carbonization and freezing-thawing showed that its resistibility against such combined deterioration decreased more rapidly in the concrete with a water-binder ratio of 55 % compared with that having a water-binder ratio of 35 %. In the case where the concrete was blended with a mineral admixture consisting of fly ash and blast furnace slag at the same water-binder ratio, it showed an increase of its resistibility against combined deterioration.

  • Recently increasing interest in high-rise building around the world for more than 100 floor, the trend is the increasing use of high-strength and high-flowable concrete so as of productivity improvements and cost savings to improve the performance of the early strength development. This study is to reach the optimal combination by reviewing the performance of high-rise building which is required. The results show that $30.0{\sim}32.5%$ of W/B, $155㎏/m^3$ of unit water and FA10+SP10 is best properties for early strength of concrete.

  • The rheological properties of slag cement pastes by effect of particle size distribution of binder were investigated using a Rheostress 1 rheometer (Haake) with a cylindrical spindle and the relationship between fluidity particle size distribution using the Rosin-Rammler equation. Samples are combined the two types of slag powder and OPC, fine slag particles sized Elaine specific surface area $8,000cm^2/g$, coarse slag particles sized Elaine specific surface area $2,000cm^2/g$, intermediate OPC particles $3,450cm^2/g$, used to search for the combination that would yield the best quality product. The all flow curves which were measured by rheometer showed hysterisis and could be classified into 4 types. When the combination was based on a ratio of 15-20 vol% fine particles, 40-50 vol% intermediate particles, 30-40 vol% coarse particles of the total volume, a high fluidity and low yield-strength was achieved. The Rosin-Rammler function can explain aboved correlation flow curve types. On type 1, the n-value had a correlation with plastic viscosity however the blend of type 2 and 3 showed consistent n-value regardless of plastic viscosity. In addition, the blend in type 4 tended to a rise in fluidity according to the increase of the n-value.

  • In this study, laboratory mixture design test and field test were performed to evaluate applicability of eco-friendly binder material (CMD-SOIL) using desulfurized dust in deep cement mixing method (DCM). As a result of laboratory mixture design test, the uniaxial compressive strength of CMD-SOIL was up to 1.136 times bigger than slag cement by changing the water content, mixing rate, and W/B. Also, it had shown the strength up to 1.222 times bigger in shell content and up to 1.363 times in mixing of floating soil. As a result of field test, field strength/laboratory design criterion strength ratio (${\lambda}$) is shown 0.77. And this result was similar to earlier studies. From this result, CMD-SOIL can show the same efficiency compared with existing binder.

  • This study investigated quality properties of alkali activated cement free mortar using industrial by-product such as cement kiln dust(CKD), silica fume(SF) and quartz sand powder(SP) to compare with previous research about blast furnace slag(BS) and fly ash(FA). The results were as following. All materials were effective to increase compressive strength, however they showed different tendency on flowability. CKD and SP increased flowability, but on the other hand SF did not because it's blain was great difference with other materials. Flowability and compressive strength were related with grading distributions of binders because CKD, SP and SF which had small particle size filled up BS and FA. Application of industrial by-products with various grading distributions could be effective for the high early strength and flowability of alkali activated cement free mortar using BS.

  • Asbestos or its applications have been used for long times and for various purposes in our life because of their merits, namely fire resistance, electric insulation and chemical resistance capacity etc. Despite of theses many merits, one of the problems of asbestos is shown toxicity according to its fiber type. So we need data to solve about this problem. In this paper, we study on the technical method of asbestos waste treatment and on the trends of asbestos researches and developments by the analysis of its patents and DWPI database materials. As a result, the asbestos-waste treatment data in the its related patents is used 267 cases to analyze. These data are divided into 86(32.5%) cases of solid waste disposal(B09B). 41(16.6%) cases of separation(B01D) and 27(10.2%) of lime, magnesia, slag, cement and their composites(C04B).

  • Concrete was identified as the significant GHG emission source resulting from a GHG emission analysis of railway infrastructure. An environmental assessment method (life cycle assessment; LCA) and low carbon railway infrastructure design strategy development method (ECODESISGN PILOT) were applied to develop low carbon railway infrastructure design strategies. The railway infrastructure was analyzed as a raw material intensive industry emitting large amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) at its construction stage. Therefore, in this study, it is analyzed that current status of GHG emission at its construction stage, and a method reducing GHG emission of railway infrastructure is proposed. In this study, eco-concrete, concrete aging prevention agent and a low carbon railway route decision method based on a need of low carbon railway infrastructure construction technology application for green railway development were considered.

  • In this study, binary blended concrete mix with fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag was prepared according to 3 level of water reduction performance of chemical admixture (0%, 8% and 16%) and 3 level of water-cement ratio (40%, 45% and 50%) for evaluation of quality properties of binary blended concrete according to performance of chemical admixture. concrete mix was carried out repetition test of three times in order to secure the reliability. As a result, compressive strength according to performance of chemical admixture was found that difference of strength was about 20% occurred, chemical admixture was showed that a great influence on qualities of concrete. In addition, reflected the effect of performance of chemiacal admixture, prediction model equations for concrete compressive strength was proposed, it was found that more than 85% of the high correlation.
