Salt and Pepper Noise Removal using Cubic Spline Interpolation (3차 스플라인 보간법을 이용한 Salt and Pepper 잡음 제거)

  • Currently, with the rapid development in digital era, the image equipment related to multi-media is becoming commercialized. However, in the process of transmitting image data, deterioration occurs due to various causes, and the most representative deterioration is salt and pepper noise. There are many methods of eliminating salt and pepper noise such as SWMF, RSIF, MNRF, which are rather insufficient in eliminating noise in high-density slat and pepper noise environment. Therefore, in order to eliminate salt and pepper noise, this thesis proposes an algorithm by first judging the noise, and when the center pixel value is non-noise, the original pixel is preserved, and when it is noise, the partial mask is subdivided into 4 directions to apply cubic spline interpolation to the direction with most non-noise pixels. Also, for the objective judgement, it was compared to existing methods, and the PSNR(peak signal to nise ratio) was set as the judgement standard.

Conversion between Decrement Models using Cubic Spline (삼차 스플라인 보간법을 활용한 탈퇴율 전환방법)

  • This paper discusses conversion methods between multiple decrement models and associated single decrement models. One of most popular assumptions on fractional age is UDD(uniform distribution of decrement) or constant force of mortality in actuarial practice. Instead of these assumptions, this paper suggests cubic spline interpolation to approximate the distribution of fractional age with the continuous force of decrements. Conversion formulas are derived. The comparisons of these two methods based on the numerical data show that the cubic spline interpolation approach is more accurate.

On the Reclamation Earthwork Calculation using the Hermite and Spline Function (Hermite와 Spline 함수를 이용한 매립토공량 계산)

  • The estimation of the volume of a pit excavation is often required in many surveying, soil mechanics, highway applications and transportation engineering situations. The calculation of earthwork plays a major role in plan or design of many civil engineering projects such as seashore reclamation, and thus it has become very important to improve the accuracy of earthwork calculation. In this paper the spot height method, proposed formulas(A, B, C), and chen and Line method are compared with the volumes of the pits in these examples. And we proposed an algorithm of finding a terrain surface with the free boundary conditions and both direction spline method drawback, i.e., the modeling curves form peak points at the joints. To avoid this drawback, the cubic spline polynomial was chosen as the methematical model of the new method. From the characteristics of the cubic spline polynomial, the modeling curve of the new method was smooth and matched the ground profile well. As a result of this study, algorithm of proposed three methods to estimate pit excavation volume provided a better accuracy than spot height, chamber, chen and Lin method. And the mathematical model mentioned makes is thought to give a maximum acccuracy in estimating the volume of a pit excavation.

  • Spline curve scheme is the most valuable tool for the CAD of industrial products. Hence, the development of a new, effective curve scheme can have immediate impact on the current design industries. This paper develops and implements a new methodology for the implementation of the visually continuous class of splines which can produce a more flexible and diverse curve shapes. This class of splines has advantaged over existing splines in that it can accommodate wider range of shapes while maintaining the interpolators property of the ordinary cardinal splines. Most importantly, we avoid using the previous method of implementing G$^1$ curves, where users must specify scalar values for the control of curve shapes. We derive and implement an easy-to -use transformation between the user-specified graphical tangent vectors and the actual parameters for the resulting curve. Since the resulting curve shape reflects original tangential direction faithfully, CAD users can simply represent approximate curve shapes with proper tangents. Consequently, a simple user interface device such as a mouse can effectively produce a various spline curves using the proposed spline tool.

  • 수위관측지점의 수위-유량관계는 하천단면 형태와 경사에 따라 1개의 유량곡선이 형성될 수도 있으나, 저수위, 평수위, 고수위 등 여러 개 구간의 곡선이 각각 다른 형태로 구성될 수 있다. 또한 이러한 곡선의 연결접점에서 연결이 연속적이어야 하고 부드러워야 한다고 알려져 있다. 각 수위구간에서 유도된 수위-유량관계곡선이 수위구간을 나눈 경계수위에서 곡선식이 일치하지는 경우가 종종 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 경계수위와 곡선접점이 일치하는지 여부를 판단하고 오차의 크기를 확인하기 위하여 할선법을 적용하여 Excel의 VBA로 프로그램을 작성하여 사용하였다. 한편, 수위유량곡선의 연결부에서 부드럽게 연결되는 것이 바람직 하지만, 지금까지 실무에서는 경계수위에서 기울기가 급변하는 형태의 수위-유량관계곡선을 사용하고 있다. 왜냐하면 최소자승회귀분석을 통하여 유도되는 과정에서 경계수위지점의 1차 도함수를 일치시키는 것은 현실적으로 불가능하기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 회귀분석으로 지수함수의 형태로 유도된 수위-유량관계곡선으로부터 수위와 유량의 대표 값을 계산하고 이들 대표 값들을 3차 스플라인 보간법을 이용하여 1차 도함수를 접점에서 일치시키는 부드러운 연결과 함께 수위-유량관계곡선과도 잘 일치하는 새로운 대안을 제시하였다. 2006년도 한국수문조사연보(유량편)의 자료를 검토하여 문제점들을 도출하고, 본 연구에서 제안한 방법들을 적용하여 보았다.

Automatic Animation Using Position Data as Constraints (위치정보 제약에 의한 애니메이션 자동화)

  • 본 논문에서는 트래커(tracker)라고 불리는 자기센서 내장 모션캡쳐 장치(장치명 INSIDETRAK)로 취득한 모션 데이터를 이용하여 캐릭터를 애니메이션하는 방법에 대해 기술한다. 이 방법은 PC를 이용하여 간단히 취득되는 저해상도의 위치 데이터를 스플라인 보간법에 의해 보간하고, 추정된 위치를 제약으로 inverse kinematics 방정식을 풀어 연속적인 동작을 재현한다. 이 기술은 최소의 모션 데이터로 리얼리스틱한 움직임을 재생하는 것이 가능하며 그 결과를 상호작용이 가능한 인터페이스에 적용시키거나 실시간 애니메이션에 활용하는 것이 가능하다.

Estimation of Uncertain Past and Future Locations of Moving objects (이동 객체의 불확실한 과거 및 미래의 위치 추정)

  • If continuous moving objects are managed by conventional database, it is not possible for them to store all position information changed over time in the database. Therefore, a time period of regular rate is determined and position information of moving objects are discretely stored in the system for every time period. However, if continuous moving objects are managed as discrete model, we will have problems which cannot properly answer to the query about uncertain past or future position information. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose the method and algorithm which use the history information stored in the same database, to estimate the past or future location of moving objects. The cubic spline interpolation is used to estimate the past location and the mean movement value of the history information is used to predict the future location of moving objects. Finally, from the location estimation experimentation of using virtual trajectory and location sample, we proved that the proposed cubic spline function has less error than the linear function.

Super-Resolution Image Processing Algorithm Using Hybrid Up-sampling (하이브리드 업샘플링을 이용한 베이시안 초해상도 영상처리)

  • 본 논문에서는 베이시안 초해상도 영상처리시 저해상도 영상들을 고해상도 격자에 맞게 정합해서 업샘플링(upsampling)을 하는 새로운 방식에 대해 제안한다. 제안하는 업샘플링 방식은 각 장을 따로 보간하는 방식과 달리 여러 저해상도 영상의 고주파 정보가 고해상도 영상 격자의 모든 위치에 적절히 영향을 미칠 수 있도록 여러 장의 저해상도 영상의 고주파 정보를 함께 사용하여 보간한다. 보간하는 방법은 B-스플라인 (B-Spline) 기반 비정규 리샘플링(non-uniform resampling)을 기반으로 초해상도 영상처리에 맞도록 적용한다. 실험결과를 통해 일반적으로 적용되는 0-삽입(zero-padding) 업샘플링 방식과 쌍일차 보간법(bilinear interpolation) 등을 적용할 때의 효과를 살펴보고, 제안하는 방식이 일반적인 방식을 사용하는 것에 비해 정량적, 정성적으로 고해상도 정보를 더 정확히 생성해내는 것을 확인한다.

Generation of 3D Sign Language Animation Using Spline Interpolation (스플라인 보간법을 이용한 3차원 수화 애니메이션의 생성)

  • We have implemented a sign language animation system using 2D and 3D models. From the previous studies, we find out that both models have several limitations based on the linear interpolation and fixed number of frames, and they result in incorrectness of actions and unnatural movements. To solve the problems, in this paper, we propose a sign language animation system using spline interpolation method and variable number of frames. Experimental results show that the proposed method could generate animation more correctly and rapidly than previous methods.

  • The purpose of format conversion is to convert a wide range of personal computer video formats into a target format. Circuits for the conversion have been developed by means of interpolation techniques, such as zero-order interpolation, bilinear interpolation, and bisigmoidal interpolation. This paper proposes a scan converter using cubic splines. The converter was modeled in VHDL on Max+PlusII and implemented with an FPGA chip. The circuit gives much better conversion performance than a scan converter with zero-order or linear interpolation.
