A Study on Mass Flow Control and FEA of Plate Spring Attached in Piezoelectric Ceramic (세라믹 압전체에 부착된 판 스프링의 유한요소해석과 질량 흐름 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the relation between displacement of piezoelectric material and electric field was proposed. FEA was introduced to predict the displacement and reaction force of plate spring attached in the piezoelectric material. The relation between displacement of piezoelectric material forced by plate spring and applied electric field were further verified by experimental investigation. Also, the flow rate of gas in piezoelectric valve was examined by experiment. Finally, the relation between electric field and gas flow was derived. Based on these results, these relations can be used in the design of mass flow controller.

  • Vestibular hair cells, the sensory receptors of vestibular organs, selectively amplify miniscule stimuli to attain high sensitivity. Such selective amplification results in compressive nonlinear sensitivity, which plays an important role in expanding dynamic range while ensuring robustness of the system. In this study, negative stiffness mechanism, a mechanism responsible for the selective amplification by vestibular hair cells, is applied to a simple mechanical system consisting of an array of inverted pendulums. The structure and working principle of the system have been inspired by gating spring hypothesis proposing that opening and closing of transduction channels contributes to the global stiffness of vestibular hair bundle. Parameter study was carried out to analyze the effect of each parameter on the compressive nonlinearity of suggested model.

  • This study is a research on the dynamic characteristics of non-linear dynamic vibration absorber in which harmonic motion is applied to the foundation of the main system. The amplitude ratio of the system with non-linear dynamic vibration absorber was obtained by harmonic balance methods and the unstable region was determined by stability analysis. As a result of study, the amplitude ratio decreases as mass ratio increases.

  • In this paper we present a new real-time visual servoing unit for laparoscopic surgery This unit can automatically control laparoscope manipulator through visual tracking of laparoscopic surgical tool. For the tracking, we present two-stage adaptive CONDENSATION(conditional density propagation) algorithm to extract the accurate position of the surgical tool tip from a surgical image sequence in real-time. This algorithm can be adaptable to abrupt change of laparoscope illumination. For the control, we present virtual damper system to control a laparoscope manipulator safely and stably. This system causes the laparoscope to move under constraint of the virtual dampers which are linked to the four sides of image. The visual servoing unit operates the manipulator in real-time with locating the surgical tool in the center of image. The experimental results show that the proposed visual tracking algorithm is highly robust and the controlled manipulator can present stable view with safe.

THREE DIMENSIONAL FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS FOR REACTION TO MOLAR UPRIGHTING SPRING (대구치 직립 스프링 적용시 반작용에 관한 삼차원 유한요소법적 연구)

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate the stress distribution and tooth displacement at the initial phase produced by 5 types of molar uprighting springs using finite element method. The three dimensional finite element model of lower dentition, bone and springs was composed of 5083 elements and 2071 nodes. The results were as follows: 1. In case of helical spring and root spring, intrusion of lower canine and first premolar were observed md distal tipping, translation and extrusion of lower second molar were observed. 2. In case of T-loop, modified T-loop and box loop, intrusion and distal translation of lower second premolar were observed, and the largest crown distal tipping and translation of lower second molar were observed in T-loop and the smallest were observed in box loop. 3. In case of T-loop with cinch-bact crown distal tipping and translation of lower second molar were decreased, but extrusion was also decreased. 4. With increase of activation in T-loop, mesial translation and won distal tipping of lower second molar were increased and edentulous space was closing, but distal translation of second premolar was also increased. 5. With increase of tip-back bend in T--loop, distal tipping and translation of lower second molar were increased, but extrusion was also increased more largely.

  • In the normal growth and development of the mandible, the molar tooth buds distal to the first permanent molar have a mesial inclination. This inclination is usually self-correcting, but, unfortunately, this self-correction does not always occur. The first case is about, 14-year-old female patient with familial history of lower second molar impaction. Her lower second molars were both impacted, and she was treated with sectional wires and open-coil springs. The second case, 14-year-old male, we treated his impacted #47 with Halterman appliance. The third case, 11-year-old male, his both mandibular second molars were impacted during full-fixed orthodontic treatment. They were treated with brass wire, sectional wire and open-coil spring.

  • In this paper, we have estimated the performance of an overflow valve for EURO type CRDI(common rail direct injection) engine. In order to implement the overflow valve with friendly circumstance, it is necessity for considering spring load. Especially, the performance evaluation of diesel car with accuracy control will be considered a mileage improvement and circumstance regulation. In order to evaluate the performance of overflow valve, The leak test system checks the pressure, switching time and operating time under 3.0 bar below 100 cc, 3.3 bar among 150 cc and 200 cc, finally 4.0 bar upper 250 cc.

The effect of compress residual stresses for fatigue strength of Spring Steel (스프링강의 피로강도에 미치는 압축잔유응력의 영향)

  • Recently the steel parts used at automobiles are required to be used under high stress more than ever before in need of the weight down. To achieve this requirement of a high strength steel, it must be necessary to decrease inclusion content and surface defect as like decarburization, surface roughness etc., In this study, the surface conditions are measured to know the influence on fatigue properties by two cases of shot peening of two-stage shot peening and single-stage shot peening. And for this study, two kinds of spring steel(SAE 9254, DIN 50CrV4) are made. This study shows the outstanding improvement of fatigue properties at the case of two-stage shot peening in the rotary bending fatigue test and this is assumed to be from (1) on low stress condition, the single stage shot peening is not affected by nonmetallic inclusion under metal. (2) it is possible that the two-stage shot peening increases the fatigue life and the high stress, but, that is affected by nonmetallic inclusion under metal. (3) so far, beeasily 50CrV4 have made high stress. But, results also show fatigue failures originated at inclusion near surface, and this inclusion type is turned out to be a alumina of high hardness.

  • This work proposes structure of spring backbone micro endoscope. For effective surgery in narrow and limited space, many manipulators are developing that different to existed structure. This device can move like elephant nose or snake unlike the existing robots. For this motion, a mechanism that uses spring backbone and wires has been developed. The new type endoscope that has Z axis motion for spring structure, therefore it has 3 degree of freedom, two rotations and one linear motion. And new kinematics for backbone structure is proposed using simple geographic analysis. The Jacobian and stiffness modeling are also derived. Exact actuator sizing is determined using stiffness model. Finally, the proposed kinematics are verified by simulation and experiments.

  • This paper proposes networked swarm robotic systems with group based control scheme using spring damper impendence feature. The proposed algorithm is applied to keep system arrangement in unexpected situations based on the spring-damper impedance and fuzzy logic. Using the proposed scheme, each robot overcome collision problems efficiently. The structure of UBSR (UMPC Based Swarm Robot) system consists of user level, cognitive level, and executive level. This structure is designed to easily meet the different configuration requirements for other levels. Simulation results show an availability of the proposed method.
