Study of the Transition of a Skateboarding Space in an Urban Park (도시공원에서 스케이트보드 활동 공간 발달에 관한 연구)

  • This research paper explores the process of developing skateboarding spaces in urban parks. Skateboarding is one of the most popular sport activities representative of urban parks. This research paper will analyze the process of introducing skateboarding activities into park spaces and their acceptance by the general public as well as derive meaningful general implications for park space development planning. The research method is a discourse analysis of newspaper articles regarding skateboarding issued between the 1960s and 2010s. These articles are the main resources to show the creation of a skateboarding culture, generation of skate park spaces, and the extinction of these spaces during the research period. The result of this research is as follows. There are reasons that allowed for the creation of skate park spaces in urban parks. First of all, positive associations that people have regarding skateboarding have influenced the park's users and operators' decisions that a park is proper space for skateboarding activities, and the agreement to remodel the park space. Secondly, skate parks became a space for multiple-uses that can be shared with other emerging sports, which resulted in a building boom of skateboarding spaces in urban parks. Thirdly, urban parks and their new culture of active sports became a marketing tool used by local governments to attract new inhabitants to their new towns. On the contrary, there are three main reasons for the deterioration of skate parks. First of all, within parks in which skateboarding activities collided with other park usage, the skate parks disappeared. Secondly, skate parks built specifically for competitive skateboarding events and without consideration of casual skaters disappeared, as these facilities were not sustainable for use in the long term. Thirdly, the golden age of skate park skateboarding did not last long, as skateboarding trends shifted from trick performance to street skating, where skate parks are no longer needed. For this reasons, the exclusive use of park space for skateboarding activities has faded from public interest. The findings of this research suggest how sport activities should be introduced to urban parks. At first, each park's management needs to identify a sport suitable for long-term development, and not only plan for temporal events or follow fleeting trends. Secondly, the park's management systems should reflect a type of sport activity that would not only be popular at the beginning of the spaces development, but also take into consideration how these activities will change over time. Lastly, in cases where there are conflicts between sport activities and other activities in urban parks, attempts should be made to suggest feasible solutions other than the liquidation of sport spaces. This study explains the development process of sport spaces offered in urban parks, by thorough research of the process of acceptance of skateboarding activities in current urban park systems. This conclusion also indicates further areas for research with the purpose of understanding general best practices in urban parks sport space planning.

  • 최근 국내외에서 첨단 기능성 섬유에 대한 소비자들의 관심이 높아지면서 다양한 분야에서 기능성 소재들이 개발되고 있다. 특히 기능성 스포츠웨어 시장에서는 계절의 경계를 넘어 야외 활동 중에 사용할 수 있는 제품에 대한 요구가 증가되고 있는데, 날씨가 매우 덥고 햇살이 뜨거운 것에서부터, 얼음처럼 차갑고 추운 것까지 가지각색 인 경우가 있을 수 있다. 이러한 변화무쌍한 날씨에 쾌적한 활동을 하기 위해서는 외부 온도변화에 대응하여 몸을 보호하고 자연환경에 맞설 수 있는 의복의 필요성이 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서 개발하고자 하는 지능형 체온조절 섬유는 정적상태에서는 보온성과 적외선을 방출을 통한 자가 발열기능을 부여하고, 동적상태에서는 태양열 증폭기능과 운동량에 따른 흡습발열의 기능을 통하여 자연환경과 의복환경의 변화에 대응할 수 있는 스포츠웨어 제품이다. 따라서 보온성이 우수한 PP, acrylate 원사 등을 이용하여 복합 방적사 설계 및 생산을 최적화였다. 또한 흡습발열 성능이 향상된 섬유구조체를 설계하여 개발 원사 구성에 따라 보온 발열 기능성 부여 방법을 달리하여 최적의 성능을 이끌어내는 제품을 개발하고자 하였다.

Outdoor Sports and e-sports Participation based Measuring Model Design for the Mental and Social Health of Adolescents (아웃도어 스포츠와 e-스포츠 기반의 청소년 정신적 사회적 건강 측정 모델 설계)

  • This study was aimed to study the effects of adolescents' outdoor sports and e-sports activities on their holistic health. In order for this, adolescent holistic health has been divided into three categories: physical health, mental health, and social health; and reviewed existing research on outdoor sports and e-sports. The research has found several variables for measuring the correlation between the two types of sports. The variables cover four areas: 1) General Information, determined by gender, age, preferred sport, and length of play; 2) Physical Health, as measured by six questions in the basic PAPS (Physical Activity Promotion System) survey; 3) Mental Health, as measured by stress index, self-efficacy, subjective health, and self-esteem; and 4) Social Health, as measured by variables relating to family, friends, school, and society. A total of 36 questions were devised, with 1-4 questions in each area. Primarily it examined the mental health social health. As a result, it was found that three factors have a difference such that the significance of self satisfaction. family relationships, friendships is 0.064, 0.012, 0.088 respectably.

This study was conducted to study the real-time sports activity classification and monitoring using single waist mounted tri-axial accelerometer. This monitoring system detects events of sports activities such as walking, running, cycling, transitions between movements, resting and emergency event of falls. Accelerometer module was developed small and easily attachable on waist using wireless communication system which does not constrain sports activities. The sensor signal was transferred to PC and each movement pattern was classified using the developed algorithm in real-time environment. To evaluate proposed algorithm, experiment was performed with several sports activities such as walking, running, cycling movement for 100sec each and falls, transition movements(sit to stand, lie to stand, stand to sit, lie to sit, stand to lie and sit to lie) for 20 times each with 5 healthy subjects. The results showed that successful detection rate of the system for all activities was 95.4%. In this study, through sports activity monitoring. it was possible to classify accurate sports activities and to notify emergency event such as falls. For further study, the accurate energy consumption algorithm for each sports activity is under development.

  • The change from people's work-centered values to their leisure-centered values leads into the change in their life styles. In the circumstance, people's participation into sports activities seems to be an important means to improve their quality of life. Along with the change of the times, more people take part in water leisure sports including kayak. As a result, people's needs for various designs of water leisure goods are on the rise. In this sense, it is necessary to come up with strategies to actively respond to such a change. In this paper, we proposed a user decision-making support system for designing kayaks for leisure. Based on the previous studies and literatures and a questionnaire survey with consumers, it chose the sensitivity related to design. By conducting factor analysis and evaluation, it drew sensitivity and proposed kayak design layouts in the aspect of customer sensitivity preference. It is expected that the result of this study will be used not only for kayak design, but as a design guide for the equipment of water leisure sports, and will be applied for user-friendly design.

  • Due to the recent popularity of sports, business items which combine IT technologies with sports have appeared. 'Sportainment' which combines the elements of sports and entertainment have a lot of potential and development as new business items in the view of overcoming many limitations such as time and place in real sports. For suggesting a baseball simulation game 'sportainment', this paper is to review the technologies in the existing indoor baseball ranges and to provide the possibility of indoor baseball simulation using various sensor technologies. This baseball simulation game is expected to develop as one of successful indoor 'sportainment' businesses such as Golfzon.

  • 경제가 성장함에 따라 생활문화의 수준 또한 향상되었고 그로인해 삶의 가치가 건강에 대한 관심으로 변하면서 함께 아웃도어 스포츠도 대중화되고 있다. 평균 수명이 늘어남에 따라 아웃도어 스포츠를 즐기는 인구도 노인층뿐만 아니라 다양한 계층으로 확대됨에 따라 아웃도어를 즐기는 이용자가 증가하고 있고 안전사고 또한 증가하고 있다. 아웃도어 활동 중 발생하는 안전사고 사망자의 대다수가 심장마비사고이다. 본 논문에서는 아웃도어 웨어에 심박센서를 장착하여 스마트폰과 연동되게 하며 심박수를 체크해주어 급작스레 심박수에 큰 폭의 변화를 보이면 스마트폰에 경고음을 크게 울려 주위의 사람들에게 위험상황을 알려 도움을 받을 수 있도록 하며 긴급한 사고가 발생할 경우 GPS를 통해 위치를 알려주며 구조요청 메시지를 보내도록 한다.

  • Recently the navigation service and LBS (Location based Services) using map supports much information services on mobile terminal. Also Internet Web sites support user much information. But, the user has the difficulty for acquiring the service and the various information based on map because of searching the many Internet sites. Accordingly, this paper supports a convergence information service model of various culture, education, tourism, sport and traffic for accessing synthesizing information based on map. And we design and implement this model using 공개 API. We present a convergence information service model of culture, tourism, sport and bus line information form tour destination and cultural place of Jeju province using the model. Additionally, we develop this service model using apache web server on Linux environment, PHP and JavaScript, MySQL database and Map 공개 API. As this service model supports a convenience action of culture and tourism for Jeju islanders and tourists.

  • 개인의 여가시간과 소득수준이 높아짐에 따라 해양 레저스포츠 활동이 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 그중 스쿠버 다이빙에 대한 관심과 참여도 계속 늘어나고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 스쿠버 다이빙은 물속에서 이루어지는 운동이므로 움직임에 제약이 크고 생명의 위험성이 높다. 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해 가상으로 스쿠버 다이빙을 체험해 볼 수 있는 시뮬레이터가 필요하지만 이를 위한 체감형 수중 인터페이스에 대한 연구는 많이 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 스쿠버 다이빙 시뮬레이터를 제작하기 위해 해저 가상공간과 스쿠버 다이빙을 하드웨어 장비의 상호작용 인터페이스를 설계하였다. 제안방법은 스쿠버 다이빙에 사용되는 실제장비를 가상현실 시스템에 연동시킴으로서 체감형 스쿠버 다이빙 시뮬레이터의 현실감을 높일 수 있을 것이다.
