The prolein components of each crystal toxin of Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki and alzawai were separated by SDS-PAGE. The major clqistal proteins from both shins were composed of paiypeptides having molecular weights of 130 kd and 64 kd. Digestive mixture of both. toxins with t~ypsin and gut juices shared 62 kd polypeptide which may be major actwe toxh. However, aizawal produced much less amount of 62 kd polypeptide than kurstaki did. On ingestion with Bt &-endotoxin, larvae of Hyphantria cunea developed 45 kd stress protein in the several tissues including fat body, which was induced by heat and cold shock.
Production of stress shock proteins in Burkholderia cepacia YK-2 in response to the phenoxyherbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D) as an environmental contaminant was investrigated. The stress schock proteins were synthesized at different 2,4-D concentrations in exponentially growing cultures of B. capacia YK-2. This response involved the production of 43kDa and 41kDa GroEL proteins. The proteins were characterized by SDS-PAGE and Western blot using the anti-DnaK nad anti-GroEL monoclonal antibodies. Total stress shock proteins were analyzed by 2-D PAGE. Survival of B. cepacia YK-2 with time in the presence of different concentrations of 2,4-D was monitored, and viable counts paralleled the production of the stress shock proteins in this bacterium.
Boiling stable proteins of 53 kDa and 29 kDa existed natively in the cotyledons of Bak Kyoung, fall radish (Raphanus raphanistrodes L.) Boiling stable proteins of 36 kDa and 16.5 kDa were newly induced by cold stress and the proteins of 53 kDa and 29 kDa increased during the cold stress. The proteins of 53 kDa were denatured within 2 hrs after removing cotyledons from plants. Boiling stable proteins of 53 kDa existed natively in the hypocotyls as much as in the cotyledons whereas 24 kDa and 18 kDa proteins were increased by stress. Boiling stable proteins of 53 kDa were induced and those of the 25 kDa and 23 kDa were increased by cold treatment and ABA treatment in the cotyledons of Jangchundaehyung F1 spring white (Raphanus raphanistrodes L.). These results showed the differences of induced boiling stable proteins between fall radishes and spring radishes. Cycloheximide inhibited the induction of 25 kDa and 23 kDa proteins during stress. 22 kDa native protein disappeared during ABA treatment and reappeared by cycloheximide treatments. It may be explained that cycloheximide was responsible for the destruction process of proteins in the living organisms. The profile of boiling stable proteins in hypocotyls of spring radishes during stress was same as that of fall redishes.
Recently, the demand for the cultivation of upland soil has been increasing, and the rate of conversion of paddy soil into upland soil is also increasing. Theincrease in uneven precipitation due to climate change has resulted in dramatic effects of waterlogging stress on upland crops. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the changes in growth characteristics and the expression patterns of proteins at the two-leaf stage of adzuki beans. The domestic cultivar, Arari (Miryang No. 8), was used to test waterlogging stress. At the two-leaf stage of adzuki beans, plant height slightly decreased androot fresh weight showed significant changes after 3 days of waterlogging treatment. Chlorophyll content was also significantly different after 3 days of waterlogging treatment compared to its content in control plants. Using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, more than 400 protein spots were identified. Twenty-one differentially expressed proteins from the two-leaf stage were analyzed using linear trap quadrupole-Fourier transform-ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. Of these 21 proteins, 9 were up-regulated and 12 were down-regulated under waterlogging treatment. Protein information resource (https://pir.georgetown.edu/) categories were assigned to all 49 proteins according to their molecular function, cellular component localization, and biological processes. Most of the proteins were found to be involved in the biological process, carbohydrate metabolism and were localized in chloroplasts.

In order to investigate rice stem proteome in response to heat stress, rice plants were subjected to heat treatment at 42$^{\circ}C$ and total soluble proteins were extracted from stem tissues, and were fractionated with 15% PEG (poly ethylene glycol) and separated by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-DE). After staining of 2-DE gels, 46 of differentially expressed proteins were extracted, digested by trypsin, and subjected to matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) analysis. Proteins were identified through database search by using peptide mass fingerprints. Among them, 10 proteins were successfully identified. Seven proteins were up- and 3 proteins were down-regulated, respectively. These proteins are involved in energy and metabolism, redox homeostasis, and mitochondrial small heat shock proteins. The identification of some novel proteins in the heat stress response provides new insights that can lead to a better understanding of the molecular basis of heat-sensitivity in plants, and also useful to molecular breeding of thermotolerant forage crops.
As the earth's average temperature rises, crop and livestock productions are at risk. Chickens are sensitive to heat stress, and increased temperatures may have adverse effects on their production performance and animal welfare. Reliable stress measurements are crucial for heat stress adaptation. Therefore, various measurement methods and biomarkers are used to evaluate poultry stress levels. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are heat sensitive biological markers that are highly expressed under stress, thereby acting as a cellular thermometer. HSPs also have chaperone activity, which protects cells from heat stress. This review details the role of HSP70 as a molecular chaperone and biomarker for heat stress, which is important for breeding climate-adaptable, thermo-tolerant poultry.
It has been known that the proteome profiles in the period of growth and development of rice are changed by the growth conditions including temperature, soil, and fertilization. In this study, the proteome profiles of Odae polished white rice grown in Chulwon and Chilgog were compared on 2-dimensional(D) gels. The differentially expressed proteins were selected from the 112 identified total proteins and classified into functional groups. The most significantly differentially expressed proteins were stress responsive proteins; Ent-kaur-16-ene synthase, which is responsible for synthesizing a plant hormone gibberellin, was expressed in Chulwon rice and heat shock proteins were in Chilgog rice, respectively. Xylanase inhibitor protein, which inhibits the enzyme xylanase produced by pathogenic fungi and Bacilli, was expressed significantly high in Chilgog rice grown at high temperature. Differential expressions of transporter proteins were observed both in Chulwon and Chilgog rice. Regarding the facts that Chilgog rice contained relatively higher amount of proteins than Chulwon rice and Chulwon rice showed large number of proteins were differentially expressed, it can be concluded that different cultivation conditions could change the protein expression profiles in rice in various ways, including elevation of protein amount or differential expressions of specific proteins, etc. The results suggest that the characteristics of the profiles of the proteome in the polished white rice are definitely changed by the environmental factors including high temperature. The results can be utilized for the development of the proper cultivation conditions for the production of high quality rice with good palatability.

To investigation protein expression pattern in rice leaves exposed to cold stress, the soluble proteins extracted from leaf tissue were fractionated with $15\%$ PEG and separated by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-DE). Differentially expressed proteins were identified by peptide mass fingerprinting using matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Eight proteins up-regulated and 10 down-regulated were found in $15\%$ PEG supernatant fraction. In addition, 13 proteins up-regulated and 14 down-regulated were found in $15\%$ PEG pellet fraction. It was identified the differentially expressed proteins in $15\%$ PEG supernatant fraction as pimerase/dehydratase fructokinase, ribose-5-phosphate isomerase (Rpi), chaperonin 21 precursor, probable photosystem II oxygen-envolving complex (PS II OEC) protein 2 precursor and thioredoxin h-type (Trx-h) and those in $15\%$ PEG pellet fraction as OSINBb0059K02.15, hypothetical protein, putative mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MAPKK), beta 7 subunit of 205 proteasome, ribulose-1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) small subunit. These proteins are involved in metabolism, energy, protein synthesis, disease/defense and signal transduction-related proteins.
