A Study of Optimal Image Steganography based on LSB Techniques (LSB 기법 기반 최적의 이미지 스테가노그래피의 연구)

  • Steganography is the technique of hiding the existence of a secret message that is communicated hiddenly. Generally, the main objectives of this paper is to develop newer and more sophisticated steganographic techniques based on perceptual transparency, robustness and capacity of the hidden data. This paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of image steganography techniques and proposes an effective method. As a result, the images steganography technique based on good ELSB and DCT which applies the rearranged key is secure and effective.

  • Steganography is a technology capable of protecting data by hiding the existence of data. Recently, with the development of deep learning technology, deep learning-based steganography are being developed. Deep learning can learn by analyzing high-dimensional features of data, so it can improve the performance and quality of steganography. In this paper, we investigated the research trend of image steganography based on deep learning.

Steganography Software Analysis -Focusing on Performance Comparison (스테가노그래피 소프트웨어 분석 연구 - 성능 비교 중심으로)

  • Steganography is a science of embedding secret data into innocent data and its goal is to conceal the existence of a carrier data. Many research on Steganography has been proposed by various hiding and detection techniques that are based on different algorithms. On the other hand, very few studies have been conducted to analyze the performance of each Steganography software. This paper describes five different Steganography software, each having its own algorithms, and analyzes the difference of each inherent feature. Image quality metrics of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural SIMilarity (SSIM) are used to define its performance of each Steganography software. We extracted PSNR and SSIM results of a quantitative amount of embedded output images for those five Steganography software. The results will show the optimal steganography software based on the evaluation metrics and ultimately contribute to forensics.

  • 기업 간에서 정보를 전달할 때, 중요한 정보를 숨기는 정보 보안 방법으로는 크게 워터마킹, 크립토그래피, 스테가노그래피 3가지가 있다. 워터마킹은 텍스트, 이미지와 같은 컨텐츠에 소유주만이 아는 마크를 사람의 육안이나 귀로는 구별할 수 없게 삽입하여 추후 소유주가 삽입한 마크를 추출함으로써 저작권 행사의 중요한 증거로 사용되는 방법이며, 스테가노그래피와 크립토그래피는 비슷하면서 다른 정보 보안 방법인데, 크립토그래피는 암호화 알고리즘을 작성하여 상대방이 이해할 수 없게끔 메시지를 작성하고 그 안에 비밀을 숨겨놓는 방식이며, 스테가노그래피는 정상적으로 보이는 컨텐츠 안에 메시지를 숨김으로써 겉으로 보기에 무해해 보이는 객체에 비밀 메시지를 은닉해 전달하는 방법으로 앞서 말한 워터마킹과는 다르게 조금 더 보안 쪽으로 치중되어 있는 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 정보 보안 방법으로 워터마킹과 스테가노그래피를 이용하는 정보 보안 알고리즘을 설계한다.

A Study and improved Approach of Text Steganography (텍스트 스테가노그래프의 개선된 접근과 연구)

  • In the digital world of the internet, steganography is introduced to hide the existence of the secret communication by concealing a secret message inside another unsuspicious cover medium. The third parties are unaware that a stego medium is being communicated. There exists a large variety of steganography methods based on texts. In this paper, analyzed the advantages and significant disadvantages of each existing text steganography method and how new approach could be proposed as a solution. The objective of this paper is to propose a method for hiding the secret messages in safer manner from external attacks by encryption rearrangement key.

  • Audio seganography is the art and science of writing hidden messages that evolves as a new secret communication method. And audio steganography is similar to the process of modifying the Least Significant Bit of image files 8th LSB layer embedding has been done for desired binary messages. The effective of steganographic tools is to obtain imperceptible and robust way to conceal high rate of secret data. The objective of this paper is to propose a method for hiding the secret messages in safer manner from external attacks by modified LSB technique and encryption rearrangement key.

Identification of Steganographic Methods Using a Hierarchical CNN Structure (계층적 CNN 구조를 이용한 스테가노그래피 식별)

  • Steganalysis is a technique that aims to detect and recover data hidden by steganography. Steganalytic methods detect hidden data by analyzing visual and statistical distortions caused during data embedding. However, for recovering the hidden data, they need to know which steganographic methods the hidden data has been embedded by. Therefore, we propose a hierarchical convolutional neural network (CNN) structure that identifies a steganographic method applied to an input image through multi-level classification. We trained four base CNNs (each is a binary classifier that determines whether or not a steganographic method has been applied to an input image or which of two different steganographic methods has been applied to an input image) and connected them hierarchically. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed hierarchical CNN structure can identify four different steganographic methods (LSB, PVD, WOW, and UNIWARD) with an accuracy of 79%.

A Study on Novel Steganography Communication Technique based on Thumbnail Images in SNS Messenger Environment (SNS 메신저 환경에서의 썸네일 이미지 기반의 새로운 스테가노그래피 통신 기법 연구)

  • Steganography is an advanced technique that hides secret messages by transforming them into subtle noise and spreading them within multimedia files such as images, video and audio. This technology has been exploited in a variety of espionage and cyber attacks. SNS messenger is an attractive SNS Service platform for sending and receiving multimedia files, which is the main medium of steganography. In this study, we proposed two noble steganography communication techniques that guarantee the complete reception rate through the use of thumbnail images in the SNS messenger environment. In addition, the feasibility was verified through implementation and testing of the proposed techniques in a real environment using KakaoTalk, a representative SNS messenger in south korea. By proposing new steganography methods in this study, we re-evaluate the risk of the steganography methods and promoted follow-up studies on the corresponding defense techniques.

Image Steganography and Its Discrimination (영상 스테가노그래피의 개념과 판별)

  • Steganography is to hide information in a media data so naturally that the other users can not notice the existence of hidden information. Data encryption focuses on the complex encoding methods of information data in order to make it difficult to decode the information even though the other users notice the existence of information. On the other hand, steganography methods concentrate on natural hiding information into other media. Since the other users do not recognize the existence of hidden information, the information can be better protected. This paper introduces the concept of image steganography that an image information is concealed into another image (cover image), and proposes a new discrimination method of steganography. This paper explains the spatial methods with LSB manipulation and frequency methods using DCT coefficients. Finally, this paper proposes a new discrimination method of image steganography by inspecting that an image information is correctly decoded.

A Techniques to Conceal Information Using Eojeol in Hangul Text Steganography (한글 텍스트 스테가노그래피에서 어절을 이용한 정보은닉 기법)

  • In the Digital Age, All Data used in the Internet is Digitized and Transmitted and Received Over a Communications Network. Therefore, it is Important to Transmit Data with Confidentiality and Integrity, Since Digital Data may be Tampered with and Tampered by Illegal users. Steganography is an Efficient Method for Ensuring Confidentiality and Integrity Together with Encryption Techniques. I Propose a Hangul Steganography Method that Inserts a Secret Message based on a Changing Insertion Position and a Changing Eojeol Size in a Cover Medium. Considering the Insertion Capacity of 3.35% and the File Size Change of 0.4% in Hangul Text Steganography, Experimental Results Show that the Jaro_score Value needs to be Maintained at 0.946.
