Wideband Class-J Power Amplifier Design Using Internal Matched GaN HEMT (내부정합된 GaN HMET를 이용한 광대역 J-급 전력증폭기 설계)

  • In order to satisfy the diffusion of multimedia service in mobile communication and the demand for high-speed communication, it is essential to modify and improve high efficiency, wideband and nonlinear characteristic of multiband power amplifier. This research is designed to implement a single-stub matching circuit as a 2nd harmonic one that meets conditions of the Class-J power amplifier. Low characteristic impedance of the single-stub line is necessary to suit conditions of wideband Class-J. This research uses ceramic substrates having high permittivity to implement the single-stub line with low characteristic impedance, which eventually results in an amplifier satisfying the output impedance terms of Class-J in wideband frequency range. This result attributes to use of GaN HEMT packaged with a 2nd harmonic matching circuit and external fundamental circuit. The measurement results of the Class-J amplifier confirms the following characteristics: more than output power of 50 W(47 dBm) in bandwidth of 1.8~2.7 GHz(0.9GHz), maximum drain efficiency of 72.6 %, and maximum PAE characteristic of 66.5 %.

  • Microstrip - slot line transitions are analyzed in the spectral domain. Some kinds of transitions which depend on the orientation angle between two lines and the stub types are designed and fabricated at 5GHz. It is shown that experiment results of the transition are in good agreement with those obtained from spectral domain analysis.

  • 본 논문에서는 이중 대역 소형 평면 패치 안테나를 이용하여 5.6GHz 대역과 5.8GHz 대역에서 동작하는 이중 대역 안테나를 제안하였다. 안테나의 격리도 특성을 최소화하기 위해 서로 다른 급전선 구조를 이용하였고, 급전부에 개방스터브를 사용하여 VSWR $\leq$2를 기준으로 5.48 GHz 대역과 5.87 GHz대역에서 각각 3.1%와 2.73% 이상의 대역폭을 얻었으며, 격리도 특성은 두 대역에서 평균적으로 -27㏈를 얻었다

  • In this paper, the exact analysis of the parallel coupled line with open stub is presented. This structure shows LPF characteristics with broad stopband and sharp skirt characteristics. We derived the exact Z-matrix expression of the structure. In order to show the validation of the expression we designed $3^{th}$ order Chebyshev LPF using the structure. The simulated data excellently agreed with the predicted values by the calculation using the derived expression.

Unequal Dual-band Wilkinson Power Divider (비대칭 이중대역 전력분배기)

  • This paper suggested a theoretical approach and an implementation for the design of an unequal Wilkinson power divider with a high dividing ratio operating at two-frequencies. The T-section transmission lines and the two-section of Monzon's theory are proposed to operate a dual-band application. To achieve the high dividing ratio divider, the high impedance line using a T-shaped structure and low impedance lines with periodic shunt open stubs are implemented. For the validation of this divider, a dual-band power divider with a high dividing ratio of 5 is simulated and measured at 1 GHz and 2 GHz. The measured performances of the divider are in good agreements with simulation results.

  • In this paper, the narrow band-pass filter with compact-size using the ${\lambda}g/2$ open stubs is proposed. The filter size is reduced by realization of transmission line at second harmonics and at the same time the power can be transferred to the output by using the fundamental wave generated in the resonator and the transmission line in which the impedance mismatch technique is adopted. Thus, the proposed filter can be reduced to half-length of horizontal transmission line than the conventional one. The experimental results show that insertion loss is 1.58 dB and return loss is 9.86 dB, and the fractional bandwidth is 10 % at the center frequency of 5.8 GHz. The filter size is $10.34{\times}18.56\;mm2$.

  • In this paper, a compact antenna is designed for the UWB lower half-band WVAN Gbps data-rate transceiver. The proposed antenna broadens the bandwidth less than -10 dB by placing the ring stubs and an open stub on the rectangular monopole above the partial ground and creating multiple resonant current paths. The designed antenna goes through the electromagnetic simulation and is fabricated and the implemented antenna has the characteristics of the return loss lower than -10 dB, the antenna gain greater than 5 dBi, and the efficiency over 80 % in the UWB lower half-band ranging from 3.197 GHz to 4.732 GHz. Therefore, it is thought that the proposed antenna is suitable for the size-reduced and excellently performing wireless communication transceiver.

  • In this paper, a compact Ultra-Wideband band-pass filter with notched band at 5.8GHz by using LC resonator is proposed. The structure of the proposed band-pass filter is very simple, and the DGS(Defected Ground Structure) is used to get the low-pass filter characteristics and the LC resonator is used to get the notched filter. The proposed band-pass filter can be much smaller than a cascaded filter type. The LC resonator is designed with a radial stub and small stub. As a result of measurement, the insertion loss is less than 0.5dB throughout the pass-band of 2.21GHz~10.92GHz, the return loss is more than 16dB and the maximum variation of group delay is 0.29ns and a notched band is 5.2GHz~6.2GHz.

A New Type of 5-Pole Low Pass Filter Using Defected Ground Structure (결함 접지 구조를 이용한 새로운 5-단 저역 통과 여파기)

  • In this paper, a new type of 5-pole low pass filter(LPF) having defected ground structure(DGS) and very wide transmission line elements is proposed. The previously presented design method of 3-stage LPF using DGS is generalized to design N-pole LPFs for $N\geq5$. As an example, a 5-pole LPF having DGS is designed and measured. The accurate curve-fitting method to determine the series inductors in the prototype filter, and ultimately the size of DGS is described. The proposed 5-pole LPF has transmission line elements with a very low impedance to realize the required shunt capacitance instead of open stubs. Therefore, open stub. Therefore, open stub, Tee-junction, Cross-junction, and high impedance line are not required for the proposed LPF, while they all have been essential in conventional LPFs.
