A Study on the Properties of Laser-Welded Boron Steel for Hot Stamping According to the Heat-Treatment Conditions (핫스탬핑용 보론 강판의 레이저 용접부에 대한 열처리 조건에 따른 특성 연구)

  • The hot-stamping technique is a forming method for manufacturing high-strength parts, in which the part is cooled rapidly after press forming above the austenite transformation temperature. Boron steel, which contains a very small amount of boron, is one of the materials used for hot stamping. The purpose of this study is to investigate the microstructure and mechanical properties according to the heat-treatment conditions. Die-quenching from various temperatures was conducted for different elapsed heat-treatment times. Laser-welded boron steel after quenching has a tensile strength of 1454 MPa and an elongation of 6 %. It has 94 % of the tensile strength of the base metal (1522 MPa). These properties can provide practical information for the use of boron steels for hot stamping.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties of boron steel according to the heat-treatment conditions and the formability by using an Erichsen cupping test. Die quenching from various temperatures was conducted for different elapsed heat-treatment times. Laser-welded boron steel after quenching at 1173 K-0 s has a tensile strength of 1203 MPa. This is 79% of the tensile strength of the base metal (1522 MPa). The formability of boron steel was not significantly different from that at the mold temperature. However, it decreased with increasing forming speed. These properties provide practical information for the use of boron steels for hot stamping.

  • 본 논문에서는 자동화 모듈인 씨마트론 다이 디자인을 활용하여 자동차에 사용되는 브라켓을 3D로 설계를 하였다. 제품의 스탬핑을 원활하게 하기 위하여 스트립 레이아웃을 일부 수정하여 광폭 2열 2개뽑기의 내측캐리어를 단 배열로 블랭크 레이아웃을 최적화하였다. 사용된 3D CAD/CAM 소프트웨어는 Cimatron Die Design이며 11개 공정으로 3D 설계를 완성하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 HEV UV단자를 자동화 모듈인 씨마트론 다이 디자인을 활용하여 스트립 레이아웃설계를 3D로 하였다. 제품의 스탬핑을 원활하게 하기 위하여 스트립 레이아웃을 33.5도 경사지게 수정하여 광폭 1열 1개 뽑기의 내측캐리어를 단 배열로 블랭크 레이아웃을 최적화하였다. 1개의 금형에서 두개의 단자를 공용으로 양산하기 29개 공정으로 3D 스트립 레이아웃설계를 완성하였다.

  • In developing computer-aided design technology for optimization of stamping die design, it has been an important issue to treat the frictional constraint acting on the blank holder surface. The main goal of this work is to establish database of draw bead restraint force and clarify friction characteristic for various automotive sheet steels, which is essential in developing friction algorithm that can be used for CAD of stamping die design. Draw bead friction tester is used to evaluate the various parameters that affect the draw restraint force and the coefficient of friction for the cold rolled and the coated sheet steels such as drawing rate, lubricant type, surface property of material, etc.

  • In this study, the bracket for car was designed in 3D using Cimatron Die Design, one of the automatic modules. To facilitate the stamping of the product, the layout of the strip was adjusted slightly. The blank layout of the double-width, 2-line, 2-pull out inner carrier was then optimized as a single arrangement. 3D design was completed in 11 processes.

  • An analysis system for evaluating the design of dieface of stamping press dies is developed. The die design analysis system interfaced with CATIA via universal or NASTRAN data format provides the design information such as binder-wrap, punch contact status, section length change ratio, wrinkle symptom etc., which are crucial in predicting the defects of initial shape of the sheet in the dieface design stage. The graphic post-processor of developed system which displays 3-dimensional shapes of tool and die and analysis results, helps the interpretation of design evaluation. The dieface design analysis system was tested in draw dies of front floor panel and quarter panel of auto-body in order to verify the usefulness and validity of the system The examples show that the developed system would be a good tool in evaluating dieface designs.

  • In a link motion punch press, numerous links are interconnected and each link executes a constrained motion at high speed. As a consequence, dynamic unbalance force and moment are transmitted to the main frame of the press, which results in unwanted vibration. This degrades productivity and precise stamping work of the press. This paper presents an effective method for reducing dynamic unbalance in a link motion punch press based upon kinematic and dynamic analyses. Firstly, the kinematic analysis is carried out in order to understand the fundamental characteristics of the link motion mechanism. Then design variable approach is presented in order to automate the model setup for the mechanism whenever design changes are necessary. To obtain the inertia properties of the links such as mass, mass moment of inertia, and the center of mass, 3-dimensional CAD software was utilized. Dynamic simulations were carried out for various combinations of design changes on some links having significant influences on kinematic and dynamic behavior of the mechanism.

  • The This research paper deals with research on the 3D strip layout design of HEV UV terminal by utilizing the Cimatron Die Design, an automation module. To ensure smooth stamping of the product, strip layout was corrected for 33.5 degrees of slope, and blank layout of the double-width, 1-line, 1-pull out inner carrier was then optimized as a single arrangement. To mass-produce two different terminals from one common die, 3D strip layout design and die design were completed in 29 different processes.
