In this paper, the performance of DS-CDMA system with smart antenna is analyzed for different bandwidths (1.25MHz,5MHz) and different channel environments (rural, urban) in wideband multipath channel. For the analysis of smart antenna system, the vector channel having the spatio-temporal correlation is modeled as a time-variant linear filter in time, and each multipath is assumed as a reflective wave from only one direction (only one cluster) in space. Several multipath is within one chip are distingushed into each one and the strongest signal is selected, DS-CDMA system with smart antenna using wider bandwidth present better performance than that using narrow bandwidth. It is shown that the smart antenna is more effective in urban area when using 2D-RAKE receiver.

This paper presents an implementation of smart antenna system channel card that executes modulation/demodulation. Operations and performances of modules of implemented channel card is confirmed and field test of channel card shows the performance of smart antenna systems. Based on the analysis obtained from the field test in cdma2000 1x environments which contains multipath lading, it is confirmed that smart antenna system channel card provide exact beampattern to the DOA and performance of proposed channel card has better FER by 5∼8 times, compared to 2 antenna diversity system.

In this paper, we present a hardware structure and new features of a smart antenna BTS (Base Transceiver Station) for CDMA2000 1X system. The proposed smart antenna BTS is a composite system consisting of many subsystems, i.e., array antenna element, frequency up/down converters, AD (Analog-to-Digital) and DA (Digital-to-Analog) converters, spreading/despreading units, convolutional encoder/Viterbi decoder, searcher, tracker, beamformer, calibration unit etc. Through the experimental tests, we found that the desired beam-pattern in both uplink and downlink communications is provided through the calibration procedure. Also it has been confirmed that the adaptive beamforming algorithm adopted to our smart antenna BTS is fast and accurate enough to support 4 fingers to each user. In our experiments, commercial mobile terminals operating PCS (Personal Communication System) band have been used. It has been confirmed that the smart antenna BTS tremendously improves the FER (Frame Error Rate) performance compared to the conventional 2-antenna diversity system.

Omni-directional antennas of UHF-Band are located on the top and bottom side of the Smart UAV in order to connect a link always. Therefore one of each antennas should be connected to a ground antenna. Because the communication link of the omni-directional antennas is influenced by the objectives around aircraft, the clearance of LOS(Line of Sight) should be achieved in order to avoid a loss of link. In this paper, the analysis results on the influence of the complex objectives placed around the antenna on the communication link are presented according to the change of attitude angles. The best positions of antennas are selected based on the electromagnetic analysis using XGTD tool which supports the modeling of antenna pattern. The flight tests of the Smart UAV were successfully performed with the selected antenna position.

Communication flow is changing rapidly. Recently, a range of wearable devices such as wearable glasses and wearable watch, have been launched. These kinds of wearable devices help people to live a more comfortable life. Wearable devices most have an antenna for wireless communication. This paper reports a transparent antenna that is made of an optically transparent material for wearable glasses. Transparent antenna can be applied to smart windows and will not disturb the view of user. IZTO/Ag/IZTO multilayer electrode has higher electrical and optical properties. This antenna is available because of its good electrical properties. This study measured the performance of the proposed transparent antenna, which is made of a multilayer electrode, applied to a lens. The proposed antenna was simulated with several substrates. The antenna impedance was matched with length and width of the antenna. The antenna's conductivity and transparency was measured using a HMS-3000 and UV-spectrometer. A 40nm thick Ag single layer antenna was fabricated on a flexible polyimide substrate for comparing the antenna performances. The fabricated antenna is useable at a frequency of 2.4-2.5GHz, which is suitable for Wifi communications and has peak gain of 2.89dBi and an efficiency of 34%.
In this paper, we have proposed a tapered slot antenna for UWB communication system. The tapered slot antenna has directional radiation and broad bandwidth. Proposed tapered slot antenna is designed using Ansys Inc. HFSS and its VSWR, return los, and radiation pattern is analyzed. Operating band of the antenna were satisfied -10 dB S11 and $VSWR{\leq}2$ in 2.7 ~ 4.8 GHz band. The radiation pattern of the antenna is showed in E-plane (YZ plane) and the H-plane (XZ plane) and the highest gain of 7.3 dBi is seen at 4.5 GHz. Therefore, proposed tapered slot antenna has wide bandwidth characteristic and directional for location awareness.

A new smart antenna receiver which incorporates the spatial fourier Transform and the maximal ratio combining(MRC) is proposed. By adapting the spatial fourier transform, the proposed method could separate the received signal into several spatial frequency components which correspond to the arrival angles of signal components, which means the beam focusing. By using the MRC, the proposed method could achieve the maximum signal to noise ratio for the signal of interest. The proposed algorithm is integrated to the CDMA reverse link receiver and simulations are performed to confirm the performance. As a result, the beam focusing effect is confirmed and the performance gain with the proposed algorithm is comparable to ordinary smart antenna receivers. The simulations are performed over the additive white gaussian noise (AWGN) environments and the results are obtained for the beam focusing capability according to the angle of arrival of a signal and the bit error performance improvement according to the number of combining branches in the MRC.
This research introduces a novel approach to address the complexities of the 5G ceramic antenna manufacturing process through the utilization of a blockchain-based 5G ceramic antenna manufacturing (B-5GAM) architecture. By seamlessly integrating blockchain technology and smart contracts, this architecture enhances transparency, security, and efficiency within the realm of 5G ceramic antenna manufacturing. The impact of applying blockchain to enhance security measures, process efficiency, and overall reliability is evident, not only optimizing the production process but also establishing a robust foundation for future advancements in communication technology. Validation of the B-5GAM architecture was achieved by manufacturing 5G antennas and implementing blockchain and smart contracts through algorithm proposals, confirming their practicality in real manufacturing environments. The results of this study demonstrate the feasibility of employing blockchain and smart contracts in the field of 5G ceramic antenna manufacturing, confirming their potential to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reliability.

This paper suggests an installation procedure of a smart skin prototype into an aircraft, flight demonstration test procedures and test results. Four communication and navigation antennas are embedded into one Conformal Load-bearing Antenna Structure(CLAS). Log periodic patch type antenna was designed as a multi-band antenna to cover four antenna frequency bands. The requirements of CLAS were verified by ground tests before aircraft installation. A CLAS speed-brake was installed into KT-1 aircraft and performances of dual antennas were verified as multi-antenna tests on the ground. Electromagnetic compatibility tests were conducted to check compatibility between the CLAS and all existing equipments. Flight demonstration tests were conducted by one sortie of flight test for one antenna. The activeness and continuity of communication and navigation signal during the flight, null area of antenna signal along the circling flight were monitored. The embedded antennas worked better than expected during four sorties of flight tests.

This paper presents a performance analysis of experimental observations of a uplink smart antenna system operating in a wide-band CDMA environment designed for a WLL (Wireless Local Loop) system. The numerical results shown in this paper have been obtained from practical experiments using commercially developed mobile terminals. The beam pattern provided by the weight vector and the resultant BER (Bit Error Rate) are observed in both indoor and outdoor signal environments. From the experimental observations, it is concluded that the proposed smart antenna system provides significant improvements in receiving both indoor and outdoor signal environments.
