Development of Control Algorithm and Real Time Numerical Simulation Program for Adaptive Cruise Control Vehicles (적응순향 제어(ACC) 차량의 제어 알고리즘 및 실시간 수치실험 프로그램 개발)

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is one of key features on intelligent Transportation System(ITS). In ACC, the steering is done by a driver, but the engine throttle valve and the brake are controlled electronically. The relative velocity and distance from the preceeding vehicle are measured by radars or image processing units and relevant vehicular spacing is maintained in ACC control systems. In this study, vehicle longitudinal dynamics are modeled to simulate vehicle longitudinal maneuver and to design longtitudinal controllers for ACC vehicles. The control algorithm is designed based on the modeled vehicle longitudinal dynamics using a non-linear sliding mode control method. To verity the performance of the control algorithm, a real time numerical simulation program is developed on a Silicon Graphics workstation using C-language . A real time graphic program is alos develpe and integrated with the numerical simulation program.

  • In this paper, a real-time multibody vehicle dynamics and control model has been developed for a virtual reality intelligent vehicle simulator. The simulator consists of low PCs for a virtual reality visualization system, vehicle dynamics and control analysis system a control loading system, and a network monitoring system. Virtual environment is created by 3D Studio Max graphic tool and OpenGVS real-time rendering library. A real-time vehicle dynamics and control model consists of a control module based on the sliding mode control for adaptive cruise control and a real-time multibody vehicle dynamics module based on the subsystem synthesis method. To verify the real-time capability of the model, cut-in, cut-out simulations have been carried out.

  • Ramjet engine have been usually operated on Mach $1.5\sim3$ as the vehicle of supersonic cruising engine and studied about the higher performance above Mach 4. The research of Duel mode Scramjet engine which have duel operating mode of ramjet/Scramjet are in progress actively nowadays. This paper suggests the effect the flow characteristics and the effects of back pressure, angle of attack, angle of yow on the supersonic air intake on mach 4 through the Schlieren/Oil flow visualization, and pressure measurement on experimental model.

  • This paper presents a theoretical analysis of a ramjet and scramjet engine according to flight Mach numbers. The main objective of this study is to give physical understanding on the performance parameters and to provide a more unified treatment of the fundamentals of ramjet and scramjet propulsion, mainly based on analytical methods. The effects of flight Mach number, inlet characteristics, and combustion on the performance of ramjet and scramjet are analysed. The cycle analysis are conducted on both combustors with constant pressure and with constant cross-section area, on which comparisons are made. Also the optimal Mach number at the entry of the combustor is studied.

  • Nowadays, many kinds of research for airship are studying with increasing of interests of airship. But these are far from perfect. The data acquisition from the actual flight test has lots of difficulties because of the characteristics from the slow dynamic response and high sensitivity for external environment. In this paper, through the actual flight test, appropriateness of the mathematical dynamic model applied here was verified by comparing the test data with simulation data in same control conditions.

  • To acquire the dynamic response and design the controller of the airship, the longitudinal motion of the airship with respect to the vertical gust, which is the nonlinear system, was studied. The effects of the apparent mass and moment of the airship delay the dynamic response and the settling time, which are slower than those of conventional airplanes. The current object of the airship is designed to cruise at 500~1000m altitude. At that height, the atmospheric conditions are generally unstable by wind gust. In this paper, it has been studied for the case of vertical gust, since the apparent mass effects are dominant in has been studied for the case of vertical gust, since the apparent mass effects are dominant in that plane. In addition to the study of the dynamic responses of the airship, the controller was designed using the PID-controller. When the gust was applied, airship responses were recovered of equilibrium states. However, it takes too ling time for recovery and the speed of airship is reduced. So, the aim in this paper was to fasten the recovery speed and to get back the cruising velocity. The control parameters were determined from the stability mode analysis, and the control inputs were the thrust and the elevator deflection angle.

Modelling of Fixed Wing UAV and Flight Control Computer Based Autopilot System Development for Integrated Simulation HILS Environment (고정익 UAV 모델링 및 비행조종컴퓨터 기반 오토파일럿 통합 시뮬레이션 HILS 환경 구축)

  • Fixed-wing UAVs have long endurance and range capabilities compared to other aerial platforms. These advantages led fixed-wing UAVs to become a popular platform for reconnaissance missions in the military. In this research, we modeled fixed-wing UAVs, including the landing gear model and developed a guidance and control system for flight control computers to construct a HILS environment. We also developed an autopilot system that includes automated take-off, cruise, and landing control for UAVs. We also retrived the Aerodynamic coefficients an UAV using Datcom and AVL software and used them for 6 degrees of freedom modeling. The Flight control computer calculates guidance commands using the Carrot chasing guidance law after distinguishing the condition of the UAV based on 16 pre-defined flight modes and calculates control inputs using Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (NDI) control scheme. We used RTNngine to integrate the Simulink model and flight control computer for HILS environment formulation.
