  • After prolonged viewing of a moving pattern, a stationary pattern can appear to move in the opposite direction, a phenomenon known as motion aftereffect (MAE). Unlike the classical explanation MAE was not confined to an adapted region; instead it can spread to an adjacent region, which was not adapted previously. In order to examine the relative locus of the mechanism responsible for MAE spreading, a rotating harmonic spiral pattern was presented as an adapting stimulus within an annulus window, and then the duration of MAE was measured in both the adapted annulus region and the non-adapted inner region. Two different kinds of test patterns were used: the same and mirror images of the original adapting pattern. An interesting characteristic of a harmonic spiral is that the orientation of a contour at a given location is different from thar of its mirror image by 90 degrees, and consequently the adapting effect of local motion detector is not expected to occur in the mirror image. The results showed that MAE duration in an adapted region was longer in the same image condition than in its mirror image condition, while MAE duration in an non-adapted region was not found to be different between those two different image conditions. These results suggest that MAE spreading might be produced by the adaptation of global motion detectors, not by local motion detectors.

  • Entering aging society and increasing individual's interests on wellbeing lead to increasing demands of healthcare service and various healthcare related applications are providedon app market or Internet. These healthcare services could enhance user's health status if the users continuously use the service. In order to enhance effectiveness of a healthcare service, the service user should comply with recommendations or directions are provided by the service. However, previous studies of healthcare service are not considered effects of compliance intention on continuous usage. Hence, we tested how user's compliance intention effect on continuous usage intention of healthcare service based on theories of information system and medical information. Moreover, we found that compliance intention of users for healthcare service is an important factor on sustainability of healthcare service. Additionally, we investigated what factors are related with user's compliance intention.

  • Tolerance on temperature and salinity of Ruditapes philippinarum was investigated in five different salinity, $32.0,\;25.6,\;19.20,\;12.80,\;6.40,\;3.20{\%_{\circ}}$ with increasing continuously $1^{\circ}C/day 2^{\circ}C/day\;and\;3^{\circ}C/day$ water temperature. R. philippinarum was acclimated to $18^{\circ}C\;and 25^{\circ}C$ before the experiment. Oxygen consumption rates and filtration rates of R. philippinarum were estimated during the experiment. $LT_{50}$ of two stocks acclimated to $18^{\circ}C\;and\;25^{\circ}C$ were similar. However, the maximum tolerance temperature of a stock acclimated $18^{\circ}C\;was\;36^{\circ}C$ while a stock acclimated $25^{\circ}C\;was\;37^{\circ}C$. This suggested that the higher water temperature a stock acclimated, the higher tolerance a stock showed, The surival rates of R. philippina겨m with the changes in salinities decreased below $19,2\;{\%_{\circ}}\;at\;18^{\circ}C\;and\;25^{\circ}C$. Oxygen consumption rates in the experimental group acclimated at $18^{\circ}C$ reduced with decreasing of salinity concentrations, while those of the experimental group acclimated at $25^{\circ}C$ showed irregular trend. Filtration rates revealed the maximum at 24{\~}28^{\circ}C$ in the experimental group acclimated ai $18^{\circ}C\;and\;31{\~}33^{\circ}C\;in\;those\;at\;25{\circ}C$. Filtraton rates shanty decreased at the lower salinity concentrations.

  • For the purpose of color reproduction under standard viewing conditions, recently, color display devices have developed for the colorimetric color reproduction. However the real viewing condition of color display devices is quite different from that. Therefore, it is very important for reproduced colors viewed under real conditions to match the color appearance under standard situations. There are various models that can be used to reproduce corresponding colors considering the chromatic adaptation of the human visual system. However neutral point or chromatic adaptation for the luminance level is not enough. In this paper, we propose a model that find adapting white points for the variations of the luminance levels under the same illuminant. This model is modeled by the proportion of Euclidian distance for luminance level. It is the adapting white function of the sigmoid type for surround luminance level. In the model, the optimal coefficients are obtained from the Hunt's experimental result. It is applied in the chromatic adaptation model using the neutral point of the various viewing conditions. And the neutral point can be used as the theoretical standard which determines the reference white of the color display devices.

  • Real surround viewing conditions in watching the color display devices such as TV and PC monitor are quite different from the standard viewing conditions. Human visual system is adapted chromatically under the different viewing conditions in luminance levels and chromaticity of illuminants. Accordingly, the reproduced colors of the same chromaticity will appear as quite different color. Therefore, it is necessary that the displayed colors are reproduced to be appeared as the original colors in the standard viewing conditions. In this paper, we propose a chromatic adaptation model for the variations of the surround illuminants' chromaticity under the same luminance conditions. In proposed chromatic adaptation model, we calculate each gain of L, M, and S as nonlinear functions according to the chromaticity of the surround illuminants. And the optimal coefficients are obtained from the corresponding colors data of the Breneman's experiments. The proposed chromatic adaptation model is compared with the conventional chromatic adaptation models. In the experimental results, the proposed model has very good performance in the whole range of luminance levels. We also experimentally confirmed that the reproduced corresponding colors using the proposed chromatic adaptation are appeared as the original colors when the real surround viewing conditions are different from the standard viewing conditions.

  • The stationary image appears to move after we view a moving stimulus for a long time. The motion aftereffect(MAE) can spread to an adjacent region if there is no contrast discontinuity between two regions. In this study, it is investigated whether a phenomenon of MAE spreading to an adjacent non adapting area is affected by the depth discontinuity defined by binocular disparity. In the first experiment a disparity defined slanted pattern was presented in an unadapted region, and in the second experiment, a disparity defined pattern with a different depth was presented on the fronto-parallel plane. Although MAE duration in the condition with slanted pattern was not different from that in the non-slanted pattern condition, MAE durations in the pattern presented on pronto-parallel plane was vividly reduced, but not completely disappeared. These results suggest that a phenomenon of MAE spreading might be affected by depth discontinuity, and could be occurred after binocular information converges.

  • The adaptation for a right source on the retina consists of the light-dark adaptation's two curves for a time by the rod-cone receptor. We obtained the adaptation for a time to measure the threshold intensities, it was two decay curves by the center of a rod-cone break. It could be represented the dark adaptation by a exponential decay function consisting of $T_{min}$, $a_r$, $a_c$, $T_{0(r)}$, $T_{0(c)}$, $t_b$, $t_c$'s parameters. The curves of a $t_b$ below and a $t_b$ above showed the adaptation sensitivity of the cone and the rod. The exponential decay function was well applied to the dark adaptation in difference retinal positions, in contrally fixated fields, in luminous, as age etc. It could be used the decay parameter as the index because of representing the properties of the dark adaptation's function.

  • In this study, factors influencing the parking policy compliance (i.e. levying a garage option on car buyers) were identified, and then, were applied to the theory of planned behavior. To find out the influence of factors and their path, the study built a parking policy compliance model using structural equation modeling. The independent variables such as attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control had positive effects on the parameter describing the efforts to secure his garage, but the parameter impact on the dependent variable was not significant. In the end, the independent variables affected the dependent variable was not significant. The perceived behavioral control utilizing regulations had positive effects on the parking policy compliance behavior, but past behavior such as street parking and prowling to find a free parking space had a negative effect on parking policy compliance behavior.
