Use of IMS-RT-PCR for the Rapid Isolation and Detection of Hepatitis A Virus from the Swine Feces (IMS-RT-PCR을 활용한 육성돈 분변으로부터 간염 A형 바이러스의 신속순수분리 및 검출법 연구)

  • Human pathogenic viruses such as hepatitis A and E virus (HAV and HEV), which lead to acute liver failure and death, are foodborne pathogens associated with the consumption of virus-contaminated meats, filter-feeding bivalves, fruits, and salads. Two of the three swine farms examined in this study had HAV and HEV positive stool samples in a nested RT-PCR assay. The use of the immunomagnetic separation (IMS) facilitated the separation of HAV through interactions between the ligand on the virion surface and the antibody from the swine feces containing both HAV and HEV. The nested RT-PCR analysis was performed for the detection of HAV obtained from hepatocarcinoma cell line (PLC/PRF/5) contaminated with eluent fraction of IMS. This indicated that IMS has the potential to simultaneously isolate and concentrate target viruses by changing antibodies linked on the magnetic beads.

On the Tree Model grown by one-sided purity (단측 순수성에 의한 나무모형의 성장에 대하여)

  • Tree model is the most popular classification algorithm in data mining due to easy interpretation of the result. In CART(Breiman et al., 1984) and C4.5(Quinlan, 1993) which are representative of tree algorithms, the split fur classification proceeds to attain the homogeneous terminal nodes with respect to the composition of levels in target variable. But, fur instance, in the chum prediction modeling fur CRM(Customer Relationship management), the rate of churn is generally very low although we are interested in mining the churners. Thus it is difficult to get accurate prediction modes using tree model based on the traditional split rule, such as mini or deviance. Buja and Lee(1999) introduced a new split rule, one-sided purity for classifying minor interesting group. In this paper, we compared one-sided purity with traditional split rule, deviance analyzing churning vs. non-churning data of ISP company. Also reviewing the result of tree model based on one-sided purity with some simulated data, we discussed problems and researchable topics.

The application for predictive similarity measures of binary data in association rule mining (이분형 예측 유사성 측도의 연관성 평가 기준 적용 방안)

  • The most widely used data mining technique is to find association rules. Association rule mining is the method to quantify the relationship between each set of items in very huge database based on the association thresholds. There are some basic association thresholds to explore meaningful association rules ; support, confidence, lift, etc. Among them, confidence is the most frequently used, but it has the drawback that it can not determine the direction of the association. The net confidence and the attributably pure confidence were developed to compensate for this drawback, but they have other drawbacks.In this paper we consider some predictive similarity measures for binary data in cluster analysis and multi-dimensional analysis as association threshold to compensate for these drawbacks. The comparative studies with net confidence, attributably pure confidence, and some predictive similarity measures are shown by numerical example.

A Study of Purity-based Page Allocation Scheme for Flash Memory File Systems (플래시 메모리 파일 시스템을 위한 순수도 기반 페이지 할당 기법에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a new page allocation scheme for flash memory file system. The proposed scheme allocates pages by exploiting the concept of Purity, which is defined as the fraction of blocks where valid Pages and invalid Pages are coexisted. The Pity determines the cost of block cleaning, that is, the portion of pages to be copied and blocks to be erased for block cleaning. To enhance the purity, the scheme classifies hot-modified data and cold-modified data and allocates them into different blocks. The hot/cold classification is based on both static properties such as attribute of data and dynamic properties such as the frequency of modifications. We have implemented the proposed scheme in YAFFS and evaluated its performance on the embedded board equipped with 400MHz XScale CPU, 64MB SDRAM, and 64MB NAND flash memory. Performance measurements have shown that the proposed scheme can reduce block cleaning time by up to 15.4 seconds with an average of 7.8 seconds compared to the typical YAFFS. Also, the enhancement becomes bigger as the utilization of flash memory increases.

The proposition of compared and attributably pure confidence in association rule mining (연관 규칙 마이닝에서 비교 기여 순수 신뢰도의 제안)

  • Generally, data mining is the process of analyzing big data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful information. The most widely used data mining technique is to generate association rules, and it finds the relevance between two items in a huge database. This technique has been used to find the relationship between each set of items based on the interestingness measures such as support, confidence, lift, etc. Among many interestingness measures, confidence is the most frequently used, but it has the drawback that it can not determine the direction of the association. The attributably pure confidence and compared confidence are able to determine the direction of the association, but their ranges are not [-1, +1]. So we can not interpret the degree of association operationally by their values. This paper propose a compared and attributably pure confidence to compensate for this drawback, and then describe some properties for a proposed measure. The comparative studies with confidence, compared confidence, attributably pure confidence, and a proposed measure are shown by numerical example. The results show that the a compared and attributably pure confidence is better than any other confidences.

  • 첫 평론집 "비순수의 선언"은 2천부를 찍었는데 전혀 나가지가 않았다. 그래도 신구문화사쪽에서는 덤핑처리를 하지 않고 계속 창고에 보관해 두었으니 고맙기 이를 데 없다. 20년이 훨씬 지나서 '북페어'란 것을 할 때 한권 샀다는 얘기를 신문사에 있는 조우석씨에게 들은 적이 있는데 이쯤되면 장기판매로서는 기록이 아닐까 한다.

  • 분단 이후 반세기 세월이 흐르는 동안 과학기술 분야에도 이질적인 문제가 산재해 있다. 남한이 응용과학을 토대로 삼고 있는데 비해 북한은 순수과학을 중시한다는 점, 북한이 발표했던 연구실적에 대한 진위 여부, 북한 과학자들과의 처우 문제 등은 통일 이후 논란이 될 수 있는 부분이다. 그러나 이런 예상되는 쟁점은 인문.사회과학 분야에 비하면 거의 없는 것이라 해도 과언이 아니다.

AC Breakdown Characteristics of Pure Ar, $N_2$ Gas and Ar/$N_2$ Gas Mixutres under Uniform and Non-Uniform Fields (평등 및 불평등 전계하에서 순수 Ar, $N_2$가스와 Ar/$N_2$혼합 가스의 교류절연파괴 특성)

  • In this paper, the AC breakdown characteristics of pure Ar and $N_2$gas with gas pressure range of 58.8~137.3[kPa] under uniform and non-uniform fields were investigated, and the measured values were compared with those in Ar/$N_2$gas mixtures with pressure varying. Summarizing the experimental results, the breakdown voltages of pure $N_2$gas, under uniform and non-uniform fields, were increased about 4.8 and 1.1 times than those of pure Ar gas, and the AC breakdown voltage increased with the pressure increasing. The breakdown voltages of Ar/$N_2$ gas mixtures were decreased with decreasing the mixture ratio of $N_2$gas. In case of Ar(85%)/$N_2$(15%) and Ar(70%)/$N_2$(30%) gas mixtures comparing to the pure Ar gas, the breakdown voltages under uniform field were increased about 1.5 and 2.1 times, and under non-uniform field were increased about 1.1 and 1.3 times at the pressure of 101.3[kPa]. Also, corona inception voltage of Ar(70%)/$N_2$(30%) gas mixtures under non-uniform field were increased about 1.5 times than those of pure Ar gas.
