  • Economic analysis predicts that the drone market will grow, and the growth of the toy and hobby drone market is expected to gradually expand. Drone expectations are rising due to the net economic function of drone market growth, but accidents due to improper management and operations are also increasing. The difference in toy drone performance is incomparably small compared to industrial drone performance, but the ordinary buyer can not know whether the difference can cause an accident during use. The toy drones used in this study were obtained from KC and CE certification, and 20 kinds of drones were used. The flight time ranged from a minimum of 3 minutes to a maximum of 12 minutes, and the control distance ranged from a minimum of 20m to a maximum of 380m. Therefore, it is necessary to secure product safety through sampling inspection of the radio wave output of toy drones, and it is also necessary to mount an algorithm that automatically lowers the altitude or hover when exceeding the limit flight distance. For future research, we will build data to establish toy drone safety standards through a altitude testing and impact testing of toy drone.

  • In the fourth industrial revolution age, because of advance in the intelligence information technologies, the various roles of AI have attracted public attention. Starting with Google's Alphago, AI is now no longer a fantasized technology but a real one that can bring ripple effect in entire society. Already, AI has performed well in the medical service, legal service, and the private sector's business decision making. This study conducted an exploratory analysis on the possibilities and issues of AI-driven policy decision making in the public sector. The three research purposes are i) could AI make a policy decision in public sector?; ii) how different is AI-driven policy decision making compared to the existing methods of decision making?; and iii) what issues would be revealed by AI's policy decision making? AI-driven policy decision making is differentiated from the traditional ways of decision making in that the former is represented by rationality based on sufficient amount of information and alternatives, increased transparency and trust, more objective views for policy issues, and faster decision making process. However, there are several controversial issues regarding superiority of AI, ethics, accountability, changes in democracy, substitution of human labor in the public sector, and data usage problems for AI. Since the adoption of AI for policy decision making will be soon realized, it is necessary to take an integrative approach, considering both the positive and adverse effects, to minimize social impact.

  • Porous asphalt pavement (PAP) has many functions, such as reducing accidents and decreasing noise. On the other hand, vulnerability is inevitable because PAP contains approximately 20% porosity. This study evaluated the effects of the maximum aggregate size (MAS), temperature, and porosity on the PAP durability. The indirect tensile strength measures durability. This study tested the samples that stayed dry and were moisturized by freezing and thawing for mixtures having the same porosity of 20% and MAS of 13mm, 10mm, and 8mm. The same test was performed on a mixture of 20% and 22% voids made of the same material with a MAS of 10mm. As a result, for 20% porosity, significant differences in the changes in MAS and temperature were found. A clear difference was observed between 8mm and 13mm under dry conditions, but there were no other significant differences in the MAS change. Furthermore, there was a clear difference in temperature for the change in porosity and temperature, but the gap in 2% porosity at 20% did not show a clear difference. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a more durable PAP through quantitative evaluations of the factors affecting the PAP durability.

  • This study was to examine the mediating role of high school students' teacher justice experience and their emotional relationship with teachers in the links between belief in a just world and school engagements, along with gender differences. The participants were 383 high school students in Seoul, Korea. The results showed that the more the students believed in a just world, the more they engaged in school life. In addition, the effect of belief in a just world on teacher-student relationship was fully mediated by teacher justice experience, and teacher-student relationship also mediated association between teacher justice experience and school engagement. In particular, for female students(N=213), the belief in a just world had both direct and indirect effect on school engagement mediated by students' experience of teacher justice and their relationship with teachers in order. On the other hand, for male students(N=168), the influence of belief in a just world on school engagement was fully mediated by teacher justice experience and teacher-student relationship in sequence. The results that belief in a just world had different path to school engagement by gender could be helpful to understand beneficial effect of belief in a just world in educational context.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the dysfunctional effects of job crafting by examining (1) the sequential dual mediating effect of work-related sense of coherence (Work-SoC) and job strain on the relationship between two dimensions of job crafting (i.e., promotion focus & prevention focus) and turnover intentions, and (2) the moderating effect of supervisor support in the relationship between each focus and Work-SoC. A total of 293 employees working at various companies in Korea participated in an online survey. The results showed that promotion-focus job crafting had a direct negative effect on turnover intention, while prevention-focus job crafting had a direct positive effect. Both promotion- and prevention-focus job crafting also had indirect effects on turnover intention by partially mediating Work-SoC and job strain. Supervisor support had a moderating effect on the relationship between prevention-focus job crafting and Work-SoC, weakening the negative effect of prevention focus on Work-SoC. The implications and future directions are discussed on the basis of the results.

  • This study identified the types and dimensions of faculty-student interaction (FSI). A narrative methodology was applied within the qualitative research paradigm. Data was collected using individual in-depth interviews involving 10 students who had experiences of faculty-student interaction more than 6 times over the prior 6 semesters. Data was analyzed according to actors' perspectives, the motivation of actions, and actions toward goal achievement. Three major types of faculty-student interactions emerged from our analysis. First, the initiative interaction type reflects active characteristics of the narrator within FSI and is goal achievement-oriented. Second, the stereotyped interaction was characterized as a unified reaction to the FSI and not significantly related to self-development. Lastly, the reciprocal interaction reflected characteristics of narrators who had potential and flexibility for self-development in the circumstances involving support from professors. The results of this study indicate that faculty-student interaction does not represent the best way to support students for their successful school lives. Faculty needs professionality and sensitivity for student teaching, and students must exhibit curiosity and activeness in developing their knowledge. Positive outcomes from the FSI will be expected in supportive school environments.
