Inference of Korean Public Sentiment from Online News (온라인 뉴스에 대한 한국 대중의 감정 예측)

  • Online news has replaced the traditional newspaper and has brought about a profound transformation in the way we access and share information. News websites have had the ability for users to post comments for quite some time, and some have also begun to crowdsource reactions to news articles. The field of sentiment analysis seeks to computationally model the emotions and reactions experienced when presented with text. In this work, we analyze more than 100,000 news articles over ten categories with five user-generated emotional annotations to determine whether or not these reactions have a mathematical correlation to the news body text and propose a simple sentiment analysis algorithm that requires minimal preprocessing and no machine learning. We show that it is effective even for a morphologically complex language like Korean.

Daily Stock Price Forecasting Using Deep Neural Network Model (심층 신경회로망 모델을 이용한 일별 주가 예측)

  • The application of deep neural networks to finance has received a great deal of attention from researchers because no assumption about a suitable mathematical model has to be made prior to forecasting and they are capable of extracting useful information from large sets of data, which is required to describe nonlinear input-output relations of financial time series. The paper presents a new deep neural network model where single layered autoencoder and 4 layered neural network are serially coupled for stock price forecasting. The autoencoder extracts deep features, which are fed into multi-layer neural networks to predict the next day's stock closing prices. The proposed deep neural network is progressively learned layer by layer ahead of the final learning of the total network. The proposed model to predict daily close prices of KOrea composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) is built, and its performance is demonstrated.

Adaptive Group-wise Resource Reservation for Spectral Efficient Handover Prioritization in Cellular Mobile Systems (셀룰러 시스템에서 자원 효율적인 핸드오버 우선화를 위한 적응적 그룹별 자원 예약 기법)

  • Resource reservation scheme is effective for better QoS guarantee to handover call for the next generation cellular systems where handover rate highly increases. However, resource reservation for handover call can incur negative impact on the new user admission. In this paper, we propose a random access based adaptive group-wise reservation to effectively reduce dropping rate of handover call, while protecting new local call. In the proposed scheme, target base station divides adaptively future handover users into groups based on the expected handover time, and then does group-wise reservation, where service allocation within each group is done on random access basis. Markov approach is also provided to analyze the performance of the proposed scheme. By computer simulation, it is shown that theoretical analysis on the performance is similar to the simulation results and the proposed reservation scheme outperforms the conventional scheme with respect to dropping probability of handover call.

Outage Probability of the Device-to-Device Communication According to the Interference-to-Signal-Ratio Generated by Cellular Networks (셀룰러 시스템의 간섭에 의한 D2D 시스템의 Outage 확률 분석)

  • In this paper, the outage probability of device-to-device (D2D) uplink communication underlaying cellular networks is analyzed over Rayleigh fading. We assume that a D2D pair and M cellular user equipments share the same frequency resources. To prevent any harmful interference from a D2D transmitter to the BS, the maximum transmit power of the D2D transmitter is strictly limited. Under these assumptions, the outage probability is represented as a function of the interference-to-signal ratio from M cellular user equipments to a D2D receiver and the number of cellular user equipments, M. In addition, the interference-to-signal ratio is represented as a function of distances among D2D equipments, cellular user equipments and the BS. Simulation results validate these analytical results.

A Study on Accelerated Built-in Self Test for Error Detecting in Multi-Gbps High Speed Interfaces (수 Gbps 고속 인터페이스의 오류검출을 위한 자가내장측정법의 가속화 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a 'linear approximation method' which is an accelerated BER (Bit Error Rate) test method for high speed interfaces, based on an analytical BER model. Both the conventional 'Q-factor estimation method' and 'linear approximation method' can predict a timing margin for $10^{-13}$ BER with an error of about 0.03UI. This linear approximation method is implemented on a hardware as an accelerated Built-In Self Test (BIST) with an internal BERT (BET Tester). While a direct measurement of a timing margin in a 3Gbps interface takes about 5.6 hours with $10^{-13}$ BER requirement and 95% confidence level, the accelerated BIST estimates a timing margin within 0.6 second without a considerable loss of accuracy. The test results show that the error between the estimated timing margin and the timing margin from an actual measurement using the internal BERT is less than 0.045UI.

  • As the performance of the next-generation broadband wireless networks is dramatically enhanced, various services (i.e., education, Live video streaming, Live video conferencing, online games, etc.) have been provided to users through a smart mobile platform. Those services are usually provided by using the centralized communication server. However, since all multimedia traffic is exchanged through a communication server, it often has the scalability problem with regard to traffic management. Our main purpose is for group smart users to provide scalable live multimedia streaming service based on P2P network. To do this, we have designed an architecture of P2P-based service management for mobile group communication management and service management protocol. In order to verify the performance of the proposed scheme, we have mathematically analyzed the performance in terms of the average transmission delay and bandwid th utilization.

A Deep Learning-Based Face Mesh Data Denoising System (딥 러닝 기반 얼굴 메쉬 데이터 디노이징 시스템)

  • Although one can easily generate real-world 3D mesh data using a 3D printer or a depth camera, the generated data inevitably includes unnecessary noise. Therefore, mesh denoising is essential to obtain intact 3D mesh data. However, conventional mathematical denoising methods require preprocessing and often eliminate some important features of the 3D mesh. To address this problem, this paper proposes a deep learning based 3D mesh denoising method. Specifically, we propose a convolution-based autoencoder model consisting of an encoder and a decoder. The convolution operation applied to the mesh data performs denoising considering the relationship between each vertex constituting the mesh data and the surrounding vertices. When the convolution is completed, a sampling operation is performed to improve the learning speed. Experimental results show that the proposed autoencoder model produces faster and higher quality denoised data than the conventional methods.

Computer Analysis of Kinematic Parameters of the Intact Heart Using X-ray Image Sequence (X-ray 영상을 이용한 심장운동해석에 관한 연구)

  • It is important to extract the mechanical informations from the image sequences of the moving object. We have studied the computer algorithms for analysis of the moving heart using X-ray image sequence. A new mathematical method was developed to estimate the local epicardial deformation, wall thickness, and the regional circumferential and longitudinal wall stress using biplane coronary cineangiograms. In this method, the motion images of the coronary artery bifurca-tion points were used as natural landmarks for the kinematic analysis of the ventricular deformation. In four dogs and a normal patient's coronary cineangiograms, the estimation results show the validity of the present analysis, compared with the experimental results based upon the implanted markers. Thus, the present method provides a new method of evaluating the regional wall deformation and wall stress together with the blood vessel conditions using the coronary cineangiography procedure.

환경분야를 위한 공간정보 분석 기술의 동향과 전망 - 지구통계학을 중심으로

  • 공간자료를 다루는 일반적인 과정은 연구자의 정의에 따라 달라질 수 있지만, 일반적으로 자료 수집, 자료 구축, 분석 및 결과 도출의 일반적인 과학/공학적 분석 절차와 유사하다. 산업체의 관점에서 볼 때, 1990년대 초기 국가GIS 사업이 시작될때부터 현재까지는 공인된 자료 구축에 많은 주안점을 두어서 기존 아날로그 자료의 디지털화, 자료 가공, 데이터베이스 구축, 자료의 시각화 등의 일반적인 자료 구축 및 도시에 주안점을 두어왔다. 또한 다양한 공간해상도의 원격탐사 자료와 같이 다중 근원 자료의 이용이 빈번해짐에 따라 공간자료의 갱신 또한 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 그러나, 공간자료를 다루는 일련의 과정이 궁극적으로는 특정 분야에서의 의사 결정보조자료의 제공 등을 지향한다고 간주할 때, "from data to information to knowledge"의 중간 혹은 최종 단계의 결과물을 산출하기 위한 적절한 분석 기술의 개발 및 적용 또한 중요한 부분을 차지한다. 공간분석을 별도의 학문분야로 간주하느냐 아니냐의 문제와는 상관없이, 최근 20년간 공간분석은 GIS 및 원격탐사 분야뿐만 아니라 기본적으로 공간자료를 다루는 많은 응용분야에서 공간자료의 이해와 부가정보의 생산을 위한 중요한 기술 분야로 간주되어 왔다. 공간분석의 여러 응용 분야중에서 환경분야에의 적용 연구는 또한 환경과학이라는 별도의 분야 뿐만 아니라, 기존 학문들인 지리학, 생태학, 지구과학, 사회학, 경제학, 도시 계획 등의 하위분야에서 중요한 방법론으로 자리 잡고 있다. 이 기술 세미나에서는 환경분야에 직간접적으로 활용이 가능한 공간정보 분석 기술의 동향을 지구통계학을 중심으로 소개하고자 한다. 국내에서 크리깅으로 대표되어온 지구통계학은 적용하는 학문 분야에 따라 보다 넓은 의미를 가지는 공간 통계학이라는 용어로 사용되고 있지만, 보다 학문적/기술적 의미로 살펴보면 공간분석의 특화된 분야로 간주할 수 있다. 1950년대 알려진 광상의 위치 정보를 이용하여 은둔 광상의 위치를 추정하기 위해 기본 개념이 소개된 이후에 수학적으로 이론이 1960년대 정립된 지구통계학은 많은 발전을 이루어 현재 다양한 분야에서 적용되고 있다. 그러나 외국과 달리 국내에서는 크리깅을 고급 내삽 기법으로만 간주하여 단순 주제도 작성에 제한적으로 사용하고 있다. 이 기술 세미나에서는 특정 학문분야에서 적용되기 보다는 일반적으로 통용될 수 있는 지구통계학의 기본 개념을 우선 소개한 후에, 국내외 학계에서의 환경주제도 제작과 관련된 주요 응용분야를 소개하고자 한다. 이후에 지구통계학이 적용될 수 있으면서, 다학제적 관점에서의 이슈가 될 수 있는 분야를 제시하고자 한다.
