현실적 수학교육은 탐구학습, 열린학습 등을 통해 수학적 사고력, 문제해결력을 신장하려는 최근의 수학교육의 방향에 걸맞는 새로운 교수${\cdot}$학습 방법의 하나로 주목받고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 고등학교 확률과 통계 영역에서 현실적 수학교육을 적용하기 위한 문맥을 개발하였다. 이 문맥들은 수학사, 자연 및 사회 현상, 실생활의 상황, 타 교과에서의 활용 상황 등 다양한 분야에서 고등학교 2${\sim}$2학년 수준에 알맞게 개발되었다.

In this research, I explored how to apply the history of mathematics in teacher education and investigated the applicability of Chosun Sanhak (mathematics of Chosun Dynasty) as the program that enriched the mathematical knowledge for teaching of prospective elementary school teachers. This program included not only mathematical knowledge but also socio-cultural knowledge and connection knowledge. Prospective teachers participated in various mathematical activities such as explaining, reasoning and problem solving in this program. The effects of this program are as follows. Prospective teachers learned the subject matter knowledge(SMK) which was helpful in teaching basic concepts and skills of elementary mathematics. Next, this program produced the pedagogical content knowledge(PCK) to prospective teachers by giving ideas how to teach.

우리 겨레가 현대식 학교를 설립하고 학교 교과로써 수학을 가르치기 시작한지도 올해로 115년이 된다. 1883년 덕원읍민이 설립한 원산학교는 공통과목으로 산수를 가르쳤다(박한식, 1991, p. 8). 1895년에는 국립으로 한성사범학교부속소학교를 세웠고 또 칙령으로 소학교령을 공포하여 초등수학교육의 제도적 기반을 마련하였다(박한식, 1991, p. 12). 1905년까지 10년 사이에 전국에 세운 공립소학교만 60여 개교나 되었다(박한식, 1991, p. 15). 이들 소학교에서는 모두 초등수학(산술)을 필수과목으로 가르쳤다. 이렇게 우리나라에 도입된 학교 교육으로서의 초등수학교육은 격변하는 역사의 소용돌이 속에서도 끊어지지 않고 이어졌다.(중략)

The paper surveys various attempts to use the concept of 'fundamental ideas' -Bruner's concept- as a tool for organizing mathematics teaching and research in mathematics education. One of the characteristics of fundamental ideas in mathematics is their correspondence to the history of mathematics; therefore in forming out contents and methods in mathematics education, the history of mathematics may be serve as an interesting aspect. It is demonstrated by the example of mean values.
