본 연구는 초등학교 수학에 적용 가능한 수학사를 추출하고 이를 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 수업 모형을 개발하여, 수학사를 활용하는 수업이 학생들의 수학적 의사소통과 수학적 태도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 이를 위해 실험집단에는 수학사를 활용한 수업을, 비교집단에는 교과서를 활용한 강의식 수업을 실시하였으며, 연구 중에 수집된 자료는 양적 분석과 질적 분석 방법을 병행하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 수학사를 활용한 수학수업은 학생들의 의사소통 참여도를 향상시키는 데에 도움을 주었으며, 둘째, 학생들이 수학적 논리를 가지고 자신의 의견을 상대방에게 정당화하게 하였다. 또한 셋째, 수학사를 활용한 수학 수업이 학생들의 수학적 태도를 긍정적으로 변화시키는 데에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

The aims of the study were to analyze the contents of elementary mathematics curriculum in order to help students to have ideas about the history of mathematics and to apply the ideas to develop their knowledge of mathematicians or mathematical history into the lesson ideas for preservice elementary teachers and elementary students. As a result, many ideas of mathematical connection into the history of mathematics are reviewed, and posters about Pythagoras and Pascal are designed to help students to reinvent the idea of triangular numbers and square numbers.

In this paper, we study the major mathematical history appeared in the elementary school mathematics textbooks. School mathematical history described in the texts reflects the axial age, and deals with mathematical transculture from the ancient Greek into Europe without the Islamic mathematics. We discuss about them through out the elementary school textbooks and give some directions for the problems.

There are currently various types of alternative schools which has diverse goals and traits in Korea. Education suited to educational principles can't be carried out, as long as mathematics education in alternative schools is same as one in the regular schools. In this thesis the problems of mathematics education which is conducted in alternative schools for maladjusted students will be examined in three aspects of teaching contents, teaching methods, and teaching environments. And we will study about mathematics education that use mathematical history as one way of mathematics education for the alternative school students.
