While dramatic shifts in the media environment underscore the emerging importance of structural approaches in media studies. political economists in Korea have failed to meet such demands. It is particularly noteworthy that their most serious weakness lies in economic theories. This paper aims to examine major problems in political economic approaches in Korea and suggest some research agenda and directions for the future. Above all, political economists need to scrutinize and elaborate both microscopic and macroscopic frameworks. On the microscopic level, they may learn tremendous implications from the "audience-commodity" thesis and recent debates on "information goods" among Korean economists. For the more macroscopic part, it is urgently needed to delve into mid-level issues that may illuminate specific ways the media capital operates: trends in the accumulation of capital, the influence of technological innovation, changes in the labor process, and the relations among production, circulation and consumption sectors.

The male audience for melodrama, a typical women's genre, has drawn little attention in the audience research. Thus, this paper examines how and in what context they watch it, as well as how they accept and rationalize their 'feminine' taste. And in-depth interviews were conducted with seven middle-aged males. While they acknowledge their feminine taste, they tend to legitimize and re-contextualize it in ways that may not contradict their notion of masculinity. Consequently, they often demonstrate seemingly contradictory attitudes oscillating between enjoying it and distancing themselves from their please of viewing. Yet, their acknowledgement of feminization hardly extends to an acceptance of being labelled 'feminine' men. They attempt to distance themselves from emotional engagement in television viewing, either through emotional self-censorship or under-valuation of the taste for the genre itself. Finally, they hardly connect their taste for the genre to a sort of active post-viewing practices of fandom. The results have considerable implications for understanding how the melodrama-viewing males keep traversing the boundaries of gender-specific genres, and reconstitute the notion of masculinity.

The present study evaluated the localization of luteinizing hormone receptors (LHR) and galectin-3 (Gal-3), a beta-galactoside-binding animal lectin, in the mature mouse ovaries by immunohistochemical analysis. Intense LHR immunoreactivity was detected in the active corpus luteum (CL), whereas expression of Gal-3 was high in the regressing CL and atretic follicle. In the CL of pregnant mice, LHR immunoreactivity was intense, but Gal-3 expression was low. Thus, LHR and Gal-3 had opposite patterns of expression in mature mouse ovaries, suggesting that both proteins have stage-specific expression patterns and are possibly involved in CL formation and regression.

The growth response of the fish-killing dinoflagellate Cochlodinium polykrikoides was studied in cultures, using the treatment of Ceratium extracts by a methanol, a water-soluble, and a cell-free medium. The cell-free medium had the most increasing on the growth of C. polykrikoides cultures, enriched with $\geq$ 25% Ceratium, whereas the methanol and water-souble fractions did not affect the growth of C. polykrikoides exposed to even higher concentration. In particular, the cell-free medium also increased the growth of Gyrodinium impudicum and Chaetoceros sp., similar species to C. polykrikoides. In contrast to C. polykrikoides, G. impudicum and Chaetoceros sp., the growth of Alexandrium tamarense was inhibited significantly, and there was no great effect on the growth of Prorocentrum minimum. These results imply that Ceratium extracts may play an important role in the stimulatory effect of C. polykrikoides, and they have to affect the interaction between C. polykrikoides and Ceratium when co-existing.

With the rapid growth of smartphone game in Korea, it is necessary to review the new monetization model. Especially, various contents supplied by smartphone did not find proper monetization model from business view. But smartphone game industry actively accepted market experience of arcade game industry and console, PC based package game industry, then have developed and applied various monetization models to induce billing such as monetization model and in-game advertising model, thereby forming a thick charging user group in a short time. The development and application of this monetization model is an important catalyst for the rapid growth and development of the smartphone game market. Therefore, we will examine the process of changing the monetization model of the entire game industry and the cultural characteristics of the micropayment model in Korea. To this end, we will compare the micropayment model of Japan which introduced the micropayment model and China which leads the world market.

This study aims to examine how the subject-matter contents related to digital literacy are adopted in Informatics curriculum in middle school and draw implications by exploring and analyzing teaching cases based on how digital literacy education is put into practice in real Informatics classes. Especially the result showed that 13 items out of all 17 standards of Informatics curriculum in terms of achievement standards are directly related with digital literacy. Also, it confirmed the position of Informatics subject-matter as a core subject for digital literacy education by analyzing the related curriculum contents. Furthermore, the study investigated the aspects of digital literacy education's being applied and the possibilities of the digital literacy education which is implemented in diverse manners in Informatics subject-matter through the analysis of teaching cases. Finally, it identified the limitations and improvement directions revealed in the process.

This study analyzed YouTube beauty videos that focus on makeup for teens, based on the assumption that the main viewers of the videos are teens. Through looking at the interaction between beauty information providers and receivers, communication among information receivers, and the way people participate in comment thread, the study examined how teens engage in social media. Many teens who posted comments on YouTube beauty videos praised and envied the beauty of beauty gurus, and tried to connect with them. The comment thread shows that teens answered to each other's questions on makeup tips, shared thoughts and experiences on issues around teen wearing makeup, which helped them build a sense of community, and broaden their views on the way of life. Also observed was power dynamics among youth, such as lecturing or verbal abuse against children and pre-teens by older teens.

The relationship between ethylene action and flesh softening in post-storage persimmon fruits was investigated by treating the fruits with 1-MCP. The patterns of firmness change caused by various treatments with 1-MCP and ethylene were similar to those of changes in cell wall-degrading enzyme activities, including cellulase, PG, PME, and ${\beta}$-galactosidase. Moreover, the activities of these enzymes were inhibited by 1-MCP treatment. These results show that the cell wall-degrading enzymes influenced by ethylene account for the flesh softening process of post-storage persimmon fruit. The ethylene production of fruits, as measured by ACC content and ACC oxidase activity, nevertheless, was not influenced by 1-MCP treatments. It is suggested that the flesh softening phenomena in post-storage persimmon fruits is correlated to the ethylene responsiveness of tissue rather than the ethylene production rate per se.

Aquaporin (AQP) family protein은 일종의 수분 전달 통로 역할을 하는 단백질로 AQP를 통한 수분의 조절은 삼투압을 통한 물의 이동과 함께 조직내 정상적인 수분의 상성 유지에 필수적이다. 현재까지 11종의 AQP이 신장·뇌·정소·안구 등에서 발현이 확인되었다. AQP9은 물 뿐 아니라 carbamide, polyol, purine, pyrimidine, urea, glycerol 등의 이동에 관여한다. 본 연구에서는 생쥐에서 출생 후 성체에 이르는 동안 정소 내 AQP9의 발현, Leydig cell의 분화에 따른 AQP9의 발현을 조사하였다. 1, 2, 4, 8주령의 정소로부터 semiquantitative RT-PCR 및 real time PCR 법으로 AQP9의 발현을 분석한 결과 1주령에서는 발현되지 않았고 2주령에서는 미량이 발현되기 시작하였고, 4주령에서는 성체의 1/2수준으로 발현량이 급격히 증가하였고 성체에서는 다량으로 발현됨이 확인되었다. Semiquantitative RT-PCR 법과 real time PCR법을 비교할 때 주령별 발현 양상은 유사하였으나 4주령과 성체에서는 두 시험법 사이에 양적인 차이가 있었다. 면역조직화학염색 결과 주로 Leydig cell에서 AQP9의 발현이 확인되었다. 성체의 정소 균질액의 Western blot 상에서 분자량 80, 55, 35 및 23 kDa의 항원이 검출되어 dimer, trimer 형태로 존재할 가능성과 당쇄 결합에 의한 단백질의 변형이 있는 것으로 추정된다. 미성숙 개체의 정소에서는 23 form이 확인되는 반면 성체에서는 35 kDa form이 주로 발현되므로 정소에서 발현되는 AQP9의 경우 Post-translation 수준에서 AQP9의 변형이 수반되는 것으로 사료되며 AQP9의 기능과의 연관성은 추후 연구되어야 할 것이다. Leydig cell은 fetal 및 adult type 2종의 세포가 정소발달 과정에 출현, 사멸, 분화하며 이들은 각기 정소발달, 성숙과 정자형성에 필요한 steroidogenesis에 관여한다. 정소 내 AQP9의 발현은 17beta HSD의 발현 양상과 같게 나타나므로 성적 성숙에 따른 정소 내 AQP9의 발현의 증가는 adult type Leydig cell의 분화와 관련된 것으로 추측된다. 성체의 정소로부터 분리한 Leydig cell-enriched culture에 hCG를 처리한 결과 배양체의 AQP9의 발현이 증가하므로 AQP9은 LH 수용체 하위 신호전달과정을 통해 Leydig cell의 steroidogenesis 또는 생성된 steroids의 분비에 요구되는 수분 및 중성용질의 이동에 관여하는 것으로 사료된다.

Soluble protein of purified Pneumocvstis cnrinii was prepared from experimentally infected rats. SDS-PAGE of the crude antigen resolved about 20 protein bands from 20 to 200 kDa. Out of thenl, 116 kDa band strongly reacted and 45-55 and 100 kDa bands reacted weakly to the positive reference human serum from U.S.A. Western blot analysis with sera of 130 normal children and 15 newborns in Korea revealed specific IgG antibody reaction to 40-55 and 116 kDa protein bands. Forty percent (40.0%) of the 145 sera were positive with any of the antigenic protein bands of R corinii. The positive rate was 56% in 50 males and 33.3% in 48 females. The protein bands 40-55 and 116 kDa from rat P. carinii were confirmed to cross-react with human sera in Korea.
