A study on the growth and properties of KTP single crystals ($KTP(KTiOPO_4)$단결정 육성 및 물성 연구)

  • KTP seed crystals were grown by the hydrothermal method and the properties of grown crystals were investigated by means of infrared spectrophotometer. The hydrothermal conditions for high growth rates of seed crystals are as follows: temperature ranges, between , $430 and 450^{\circ}C $ ; hydrothermal solvent, 4m KF solution ; temperatures difference, $30<{\triangle}T<65^{\circ}C$ ; filling %, 65% ; growth method, vertical temperature gradient method. Under these conditions, morphologies of the grown KTP single crystals tended to be bounded by (100), (011) and (201) faces and hydroxyl groups were observed in the grown crystals.

Hydrothermal synthesis of PLT[$(Pb,La)TiO_3$] powders (수열법에 의한 PLT[$(Pb,La)TiO_3$ 분말의 합성)

  • Synthesis of PLT($Pb_{1-X}La_{2X/3}TiO_3$, x=0.1~0.3) powders was carried out by hydrothermal method. Optimal conditions for synthesis were $250^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature, 8M-KOH solution of hydrothermal solvent and 12 hrs reaction time, and the monolithic $Pb_{1-X}La_{2X/3}TiO_3$ particles were obtained with the composition of x$\leq$0.2. The tetragonality(c/a) and the phase transition temperature were decreased by the increment of the $La_2O_3$ contents in PLT solid solutions, and the Curie temperature of the $Pb_{1-X}La_{2X/3}TiO_3$(x=0.2) was $400^{\circ}C$. The shape of the synthesized particles were nearly spherical and the size was in the 20~200 nm range.

  • PV module power is calculated on PV module surface temperature adjustment by irradiation on the summer and autumn in NOCT(Nominal Operating Cell Temperature) conditions. The summer and autumn periods were selected because of large variation in outdoor air temperature and irradiation. This study was performed to understand relationship between PV module surface temperature and photovoltaic power using field measurement. As a results, it was determined that the amount of irradiation was proportional to the amount of photovoltaic power in the field measurement. However, it was also identified that the PV power generation decreased by increased PV module surface temperatures due to irradiation.

  • In this study, the control strategies of indoor air temperature in floor radiant heating system were researched by computer simulation. The temperature difference based time control method using the difference of indoor set temperature and indoor temperature is compared with the existing On-Off control one for heating control performances. As a result, the temperature difference based time control method shows better thermal environmental characteristics in case of selected operational conditions in comparison with existing control one.

  • In this paper, an experimental study on the cooling operation characteristics for different entering water temperatures in geothermal heat pump system are carried out by using Lab VIEW system program Set-point temperature controls for cooling water and supply air temperatures is applied to analyze the energy consumption and control performances. As a result, the system responses show that different entering water temperatures(EWT) effect greatly on the energy consumption and system COP.

  • The Effects of hot water supply temperature on indoor thermal characteristics for floor radiant heating system in residential apartment were researched by computer simulation. The parametric study on hot water supply temperatures with different outdoor air temperatures was done with regard to energy performance and control characteristics, respectively. As a result, the maximum overshoot of indoor air temperature and energy consumption were reduced by adjusting the hot water supply temperatures with outdoor air temperatures.

수열합성법으로 성장된 ZnO 박막의 열처리에 따른 특성 변화

  • 수열합성법을 이용하여 Si(111) 기판에 ZnO 박막을 성장하였다. ZnO 박막의 성장을 위한 씨앗층은 plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PA-MBE)를 이용하였다. 씨앗층의 표면 거칠기(root-mean-square roughness)는 2.5 nm이고, 씨앗층 위에 성장된 ZnO 박막은 다양한 크기의 입자들로 이루어져 있었으며 두께는 약 $1.8{\mu}m$로 매우 일정하였다. 배향성을 알아보기 위하여 texture coefficient (TC)를 계산해 보았다. TC(100)과 TC(200)은 a-축 배향성을, TC(002)는 c-축 배향성을 나타내는데, c-축으로 더 우세한 배향성(99.5%)을 보였다. TC 비율(TCa-axis/TCc-axis)은 열처리 온도를 $700^{\circ}C$까지 올렸을 때, 점차적으로 증가하였고, 그 이상의 열처리 온도(< $900^{\circ}C$)에서는 급격히 감소하였다. 잔류응력과 Zn와 O의 bond length도 유사한 경향을 보였다. $700^{\circ}C$까지 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라, 잔류응력은 증가하였고 bond length는 감소하였다. Near-band-edge emission (NBE)의 피크 강도는 열처리 온도가 $700^{\circ}C$까지 증가함에 따라 점차적으로 증가하였다. 열처리 온도가 $800^{\circ}C$ 이상 증가함에 따라 deep-level emission (DLE)가 적색편이(red-shift)하였다. $700^{\circ}C$로 열처리를 한 ZnO 박막이 가장 우세한 (002)방향의 배향성을 보였을 뿐만 아니라 가장 큰 발광효율 증가를 보였다.

Color enhancement and characteristics of natural rubies originated in Africa by the hydrothermal treatment method (수열처리법에 의한 아프리카산 천연루비의 색상개선 및 특성평가)

  • Color enhancement of African rubies with dark red was carried out by the heat treatment and the hydrothermal treatment method respectively. The heat treatment method brought about an adverse effect causing the color to be deteriorated. However, the hydrothermal treatment method enhanced its color and clarity. The hydrothermal treatment conditions for color enhancement of them were as follows: solvent: 0.9M $Na_2CO_3-1M\;K_2CO_3$, temperature: $450^{\circ}C$, duration: 48 hrs, filling: $30\%$, pressure: 375 atm. As the results of characteristics for African rubies obtained under these conditions, it was known that the amount of $Cr^{3+},\;Fe^{3+},\;Ti^{4+}$ was reduced after the hydrothermal treatment from the ICP/MS and XRF analyses. Also, it was found that the red color from the colorimeter analyses was getting lighter. These results were consistent with the PL analysis showing that the intensity of the luminescence peak generated by the electron transition of $Cr^{3+}$ ion became lower after the hydrothermal treatment compared with the non-treated rubies.

  • In this study single crystalline corundum ($\alpha$-$Al_2O_3$) powders were prepared from gibbsite using hydrothermal growing processes. Addition of a mineralizer and the characteristics of solid substances were investigated to find their effects on the size distribution and crystalllnity of products. Experimental results showed that as the concentration of potassium hydroxide (KOH), a mineralizer, the particle size of corundum powders became larger at lower reaction temperatures. However, the size of corundum powders became smaller as the concentration of gibbsite increased in the feedstock. The hydrothermal synthetic conditions are also strongly dependent on the properties of hydrothermal solutions. Corundum powders which have the weight mean particle size of 1~10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ with shapes of hexagonal were prepared in this experiment.
