In the present study, compact $0^{th}$ order resonant antenna for 2.4 GHz ISM frequency band is newly proposed. In case of wireless communication systems such as wi-fi, bluetooth and Zigbee, antennas with omni-directional radiation pattern are necessary because of the demands for uniformly received electric field strength without variation for direction. It is well-known that $0^{th}$ order resonant antennas are not only advantageous for miniaturization but also have advantage of maintaining omni-directional radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is composed of two-element array in which the size of unit element should be smaller than ${\lambda}/4$ correspondent to the resonant length of typical monopole antennas The proposed antenna which is placed at middle and upper side of PCB with $50{\times}50mm^2$ size is designed and fabricated within limited space of $8{\times}5mm^2$. The measured impedance bandwidth ($S_{11}{\leq}-10dB$) is about 100 MHz (2.4~2.5 GHz) which corresponds to quite wide bandwidth in comparison with the antenna size, and also the measured peak gain over the passband is more than 3 dBi which is thought to be slightly wider than the other $0^{th}$ order resonant antenna.
Dual-polarization can distinguish precipitation type and dual-polarization is provide not only meteorological phenomena in the atmosphere but also non-precipitation echoes. Therefore dual-polarization radar can improve radar estimates of rainfall. However polarimetric measurements by transmitting vertically vibration waves and horizontally vibrating waves simultaneously is contain systematic bias of the radar itself. Thus the calibration bias is necessary to improve quantitative precipitation estimation. In this study, the calibration bias of reflectivity (Z) and differential reflectivity ($Z_{DR}$) from the Bislsan dual-polarization radar is calculated using the 2-Dimensional Video Disdrometer (2DVD) data. And an improvement in rainfall estimation is investigated by applying derived calibration bias. A total of 33 rainfall cases occurring in Daegu from 2011 to 2012 were selected. As a results, the calibration bias of Z is about -0.3 to 5.5 dB, and $Z_{DR}$ is about -0.1 dB to 0.6 dB. In most cases, the Bislsan radar generally observes Z and $Z_{DR}$ variables lower than the simulated variables. Before and after calibration bias, compared estimated rainfall from the dual-polarization radar with AWS rain gauge in Daegu found that the mean bias has fallen by 1.69 to 1.54 mm/hr, and the RMSE has decreased by 2.54 to 1.73 mm/hr. And estimated rainfall comparing to the surface rain gauge as ground truth, rainfall estimation is improved about 7-61%.

The Radar Cross Section (RCS) is a virtual region indicating the strength of a wavelength at which a radar signal is reflected and received. As the ship's RCS represents its own stealth performance and survivability, efforts have been made in various areas from design to construction to reduce the RCS. The RCS can be predicted using design drawings and CAD models, but it is necessary to measure the RCS at sea since sea clutter and multipath reflections occur in the sea environment. However, such RCS predictions and measured values provide only a simple relative magnitude to the user, and there has not been much research on this topic. In this paper, a missile countermeasure technique was studied using 3D RCS measurement data in an operating environment. The elevation and azimuth angle of the ship viewed from the missile were estimated using the location information of the missile, and the RCS value was inverted by mapping it to previously measured 3D RCS measurement data. In addition, by using the movement information of the missile, the RCS observed by the missile could be predicted in advance, and this method can be used to propose a response plan based on the maneuvering and chaff system.

In this paper, the characteristics of compensation for WDM channel signal distortion due to both chromatic dispersion and Ken effect in 1,000 km 200 Gbps(5${\times}$40 Gbps) WDM systems was investigated. The WDM system has a path-averaged intensity approximation(PAIA) mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) as a compensation method. This system has a highly nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber(HNL-DSF) optical phase conjugator(OPC) in the mid-way of transmission line. In order to evaluate the degree of compensation, 1 dB eye opening penalty(EOP), bit error rate(BER) characteristics and power penalty of 10$\^$-9/ BER are used. It is confirmed that HNL-DSF is an useful nonlinear medium in OPC fur wideband WDM system with PAIA MSSI and that the optimal compensation for WDM channel distortion is achieved by the selection of pump light power of OPC, which equalize the conjugated light power into the second half fiber section with the input WDM signal light power depending on total transmission length, dispersion coefficient of fiber, OPC pump light wavelength, conversion efficiency of WDM channel in OPC.
For extending of hot-spot of WLAN, (2) proposes internetworking scheme between wireless LAN (WLAN) and mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), which employ the same layer-2 protocol with different mode. Compared to internetworking schemes between UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems) and WLAN (3-4), the scheme from (2) has relatively low overhead and latencies because WLAN and MANET are physically and logically similar to each other. However, the mode switching algorithm proposed in r2] for internetworking between WLAN and MANET only considers signal strength and determines handoff, and mobile nodes following a zigzag course in pollution area may perform handoff at short intervals. Furthermore, (2) employs mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) at base, which brings still high delay on handoff and overhead due to signal message exchange. In this paper, we present optimized internetworking scheme between WLAN and MANET, modified from (2). To settle ping-pong handoff from (2), we propose adaptive mode switching algorithm. HMIPv6 is employed for IP connectivity and mobility service in WLAN, which solves some shortcomings, such as high handoff overhead and vulnerable security. For routing in MANET, OLSR is employed, which is a proactive Protocol and has optimally reduced signal broadcasting overhead. OLSR operates with current P protocol compatibly with no change or modification. The proposed internetworking scheme based on adaptive mode switching algorithm shows better performance than scheme from (2).

Conventional RF signal-based indoor localization techniques such as BLE or Wi-Fi based fingerprinting method show considerable localization errors even in small-scale indoor environments due to unstable received signal strength(RSS) of RF signals. Therefore, it is difficult to apply the existing RF-based fingerprinting techniques to large-scale indoor environments such as airports and department stores. In this paper, instead of RF signal we use the geomagnetic sensor signal for indoor localization, whose signal strength is more stable than RF RSS. Although similar geomagnetic field values exist in indoor space, an object movement would experience a unique sequence of the geomagnetic field signals as the movement continues. We use a deep neural network model called the recurrent neural network (RNN), which is effective in recognizing time-varying sequences of sensor data, to track the user's location and movement path. To evaluate the performance of the proposed geomagnetic field based indoor positioning system (IPS), we constructed a magnetic field map for a campus testbed of about $94m{\times}26$ dimension and trained RNN using various potential movement paths and their location data extracted from the magnetic field map. By adjusting various hyperparameters, we could achieve an average localization error of 1.20 meters in the testbed.
In this paper, the effect of atmospheric turbulence is numerically modeled and analyzed via a phase-screen model, in regard to long-range optical energy transfer using coherent beam combination. The coherent-beam-combination system consists of three channel beams pointing at a target at a distance of 1-2 km. The phase and propagation direction of each channel beam are assumed to be corrected in an appropriate manner, and the atmospheric turbulence that occurs while the beam propagates through free space is quantified with a phase-screen model. The phase screen is statistically generated and constructed within the range of fluctuations of the structure constant Cn2 from 10-15 to 10-13 [m-2/3]. Particularly, in this discussion the shape, distortion, and combining efficiency of the 3-channel combined beam are calculated at the target plane by varying the structure constant used in the phase-screen model, and the effect of atmospheric turbulence on beam-combination efficiency is analyzed. Analysis with this numerical model verifies that when coherent beam combination is used for long-range optical energy transfer, the received power at the target can be at least three times the power obtainable by incoherent beam combination, even for maximal atmospheric fluctuation within the given range. This numerical model is expected to be effective for analyzing the effects of various types of atmospheric-turbulence conditions and beam-combination methods when simulating long-range optical energy transfer.

A split beam ultrasonic transducer operating at a frequency of 70 kHz to use in the fish sizing echo sounder was developed and the acoustic radiation characteristics were experimentally analyzed. The amplitude shading method utilizing the properties of the Chebyshev polynomials was used to obtain side lobe levels below -20 dB and to optimize the relationship between main beam width and side lobe level of the transducer, and the amplitude shading coefficient to each of the elements was achieved by changing the amplitude contribution of elements with 4 weighting transformers embodied in the planar array transducer assembly. The planar array split beam transducer assembly was composed of 36 piezoelectric ceramics (NEPEC N-21, Tokin) of rod type of 10 mm in diameter and 18.7 mm in length of 70 kHz arranged in the rectangular configuration, and the 4 electrical inputs were supplied to the beamformer. A series of impedance measurements were conducted to check the uniformity of the individual quadrants, and also in the configurations of reception and transmission, resonant frequency, and the transmitting and receiving characteristics were measured in the water tank and analyzed, respectively. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Average resonant and antiresonant frequencies of electrical impedance for four quadrants of the split beam transducer in water were 69.8 kHz and 83.0 kHz, respectively. Average electrical impedance for each individual transducer quadrant was 49.2$\Omega$ at resonant frequency and 704.7$\Omega$ at antiresonant frequency. 2. The resonance peak in the transmitting voltage response (TVR) for four quadrants of the split beam transducer was observed all at 70.0 kHz and the value of TVR was all about 165.5 dB re 1 $\mu$Pa/V at 1 m at 70.0 kHz with bandwidth of 10.0 kHz between -3 dB down points. The resonance peak in the receiving sensitivity (SRT) for four combined quadrants (quad LU+LL, quad RU+RL, quad LU+RU, quad LL+RL) of the split beam transducer was observed all at 75.0 kHz and the value of SRT was all about -177.7 dB re 1 V/$\mu$Pa at 75.0 kHz with bandwidth of 10.0 kHz between -3 dB down points. The sum beam transmitting voltage response and receiving senstivity was 175.0 dB re 1$\mu$Pa/V at 1 m at 75.0 kHz with bandwidth of 10.0 kHz, respectively. 3. The sum beam of split beam transducer was approximately circular with a half beam angle of $9.0^\circ$ at -3 dB points all in both axis of the horizontal plane and the vertical plane. The first measured side lobe levels for the sum beam of split beam transducer were -19.7 dB at $22^\circ$ and -19.4 dB at $-26^\circ$ in the horizontal plane, respectively and -20.1 dB at $22^\circ$ and -22.0 dB at $-26^\circ$ in the vertical plane, respectively. 4. The developed split beam transducer was tested to estimate the angular position of the target in the beam through split beam phase measurements, and the beam pattern loss for target strength corrections was measured and analyzed.
This paper describes ATM cell encipherment method using Rijndael Algorithm adopted as an AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) by NIST in 2001. ISO 9160 describes the requirement of physical layer data processing in encryption/decryption. For the description of ATM cell encipherment method, we implemented ATM data encipherment equipment which satisfies the requirements of ISO 9160, and verified the encipherment/decipherment processing at ATM STM-1 rate(155.52Mbps). The DES algorithm can process data in the block size of 64 bits and its key length is 64 bits, but the Rijndael algorithm can process data in the block size of 128 bits and the key length of 128, 192, or 256 bits selectively. So it is more flexible in high bit rate data processing and stronger in encription strength than DES. For tile real time encryption of high bit rate data stream. Rijndael algorithm was implemented in FPGA in this experiment. The boundary of serial UNI cell was detected by the CRC method, and in the case of user data cell the payload of 48 octets (384 bits) is converted in parallel and transferred to 3 Rijndael encipherment module in the block size of 128 bits individually. After completion of encryption, the header stored in buffer is attached to the enciphered payload and retransmitted in the format of cell. At the receiving end, the boundary of ceil is detected by the CRC method and the payload type is decided. n the payload type is the user data cell, the payload of the cell is transferred to the 3-Rijndael decryption module in the block sire of 128 bits for decryption of data. And in the case of maintenance cell, the payload is extracted without decryption processing.
Effects of magnesium sulfate ($MgSO_4$) and magnesium hydroxide $[Mg(OH)_2]$, which have different chemical characteristics, on soil pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and exchangeable cation distributions were investigated. Using plastic columns packed with a loam soil, the two Mg-fertilizers were treated at the rate of $300kg\;MgO\;ha^{-1}$ and water was applied on the soil surface four times at every 7 days. Soil samples were taken at 5, 10, 15, and 20 cm depth after 7 days of each water application. Magnesium hydroxide could increase soil pH, but due to the low solubility of $Mg(OH)_2$, the effect on pH was limited on the surface soil. Soil pH was lowered in the $MgSO_4$ treatment and the effect was found through the 20 cm depth. Since the pH decrease in $MgSO_4$ treated soil was due to the salts from $MgSO_4$, after leaching of most salts from the investigated soil depth pH was not significantly different from that of non-treated soil. Soil EC was increased in $MgSO_4$ treatment through the soil depth, but in $Mg(OH)_2$ treatment EC was slightly increased only at the surface layer. Exchangeable Mg was increased in both of the treatments at surface layer after the first water application. In $Mg(OH)_2$ treatment, the increase of exchangeable Mg was found only at 5 cm depth through the experiment, but leaching down of Mg in the $MgSO_4$ treatment was very apparent. High concentration of Mg in the $MgSO_4$ treated soil could effectively replace exchangeable Ca through the investigated soil depth, but the effect of $Mg(OH)_2$ on exchangeable Ca was not significant.
