Effect of droplet length on a burning constant rate of suspended droplet (액적간격이 고정액적의 연소율상수에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the combustion of single droplets and 1-D droplet arrays of jet A-1 fuel droplets in atmospheric pressure. Experimental results indicate that burning rate constants$({\kappa}_c)$ of jet A-1 fuel droplets were independent of initial droplet size as $0.915{mm}^2$/sec. It was acquired a general relationship expressing the variation of $d^2$ with time for droplet burning For 1-D droplet arrays $(l/d_o$=1.208{\sim}2.922)$/TEX>, the burning rate constant ${\kappa}_c$ decreased with decreasing droplet spacing $l/d_o$ and, The effect on combustion rate constant ${\kappa}_c$ was stronger to second fuel droplet than third fuel droplet with uniform droplet distance

A Study on the Knocking Characteristics with Various Excess Air Ratio in a HCNG Engine (HCNG 엔진의 공기과잉율 변화에 따른 노킹 특성에 관한 연구)

  • As emission regulation for vehicle has been reinforced, many researches carried out for HCNG(hydrogen-natural gas blends) fuel to the conventional compressed natural gas (CNG) engine. However, abnormal combustion such as backfire, pre-ignition or knocking can be caused due to high combustion speed of hydrogen and it can result in over heating of engine or reduction of thermal efficiency and power output. In the present study, improvement of combustion performance was observed with HCNG fuel since it can extend a flammability limit. Knocking characteristics for CNG and HCNG fuel were investigated. Feasibility of HCNG fuel was evaluated by checking the knock margin according to excess air ratio. The operation of engine with HCNG was stable at minimum advance for best torque(MBT) spark timing and knock phenomena were not detected. However, it is necessary to prepare higher knock tendency since possibility of knock is higher with HCNG fuel.

  • $CO_2$ 분리는 크게 연소전 탈탄소화(pre-combustion capture)와 연소후 포획(post-combustion capture)으로 나누어지는데, post-combustion capture는 연료가 연소하면 $N_2$$CO_2$가 남게 되고 흡수나, 흡착, 막분리 등을 이용해서 $CO_2$를 분리하는 것이고, Pre-combustion capture(연소전 회수)는 연소 전에 이산화탄소가 발생되지 않도록 하는 기술로써, 부분 산화나 개질 및 수성가스 변위반응 등이 포함되며 생성된 수소와 이산화탄소를 분리하여 수소를 생산하는 기술($CO_2/H_2$ 분리가 핵심)이다. 우리나라는 대부분 연소 후 포획 위주로 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔지만, 최근 고유가 시장이 형성되면서 석탄화력발전 및 복합가스발전(IGCC)에 필요한 연소전 탈탄소화($H_2/CO_2$ 가스로부터 $CO_2$ 회수) 연구에 산업적 관심이 급상승 되고 있다. 특히, Pre-combustion 과정에서는 높은 자체압력(약 2.5 - 5.0MPa)과 비교적 높은 농도의 $CO_2$(약 40%의)가 발생되기 때문에, 연소전 탈탄소화는 가스하이드레이트 형성/분해 원리가 가장 잘 적용될 수 있는 기술이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 비교적 저압 조건에서도 하이드레이트를 보다 쉽게 형성시키는 촉진제를 이용하여 $CO_2/H_2$ 혼합 가스 중 $CO_2$를 분리하는 실험을 수행하였다.

Prediction and Measurement of Flash Point and Fire Point of Aromatic Hydrocarbons (방향족탄화수소의 인화점과 연소점 측정 및 예측)

  • The flash points and the fire points are one of the most important combustible properties used to determine the potential for the fire and explosion hazards of flammable substances. In this study, the flash points of aromatic hydrocarbons, were measured by using Pensky-Martens Closed Cup apparatus(ASTM-D93) and Tag Open-Cup apparatus(ASTM D 1310-86). Also the fire points of aromatic hydrocarbons, were measured by using Tag Open-Cup apparatus. The measured flash points were in good agreement with reference values. The measured fire points compared with the estimated values based on 1.23 times stoichiometric concentration. The values calculated by the proposed equation were in agreement with measured values.

  • In the regeneratively cooled combustion chambers using hydrocarbon fuels, coking occurs as the wall temperature increases which generates compounds deposition on the wall. This phenomenon reduces cooling capability of the coolant, finally it can cause damage to combustor by overheating of chamber wall. In this paper electrical heating equipment which is used for the coking experiments and the test results are introduced. The compatibilities of copper alloy with let A-1 were assessed at each condition based on the test results.

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the combustion characteristics of the liquid hydrocarbon fuel atomized by an ultrasonic oscillator. Configuration of the flame was caught by the DSLR camera, and images were analyzed in detail through a post-processing. Temperature of the flame zone was measured using thermocouple. It is resulted that the flame area is proportional to the mass flow rate of carrier gas as well as the voltage applied to the ultrasonic oscillator. Temperature of the flame zone is measured and analyzed according to variation in the operating condition of the burner, too.

  • The effect of cycling on the absorption and desorption characteristics of the 80 wt% $AB_2$-15 wt% Mg-5 wt% Mm system was investigated. The material was made by Hydrogen Combustion Synthesis. The cycling experiment was performed at 298 K, 30 atm for 15 min. During the reaction time, the amount of absorption was fully desorbed. After the full activation, the hydrogen storage capacity was 1.57 wt% and the capacity was maintained until 50 cycles. And the reaction rate does not change with an increase in the number of cycles. This material has good durability and reversible feature.

  • 마이크로 반응기술은 작은 반응기 부피, 높은 열전달, 넓은 반응 면적/부피 및 정확한 반응시간 조절이 가능하기 때문에 화학공정의 고집적화, 반응 선택도의 향상 및 안전도 향상을 꾀할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 이러한 마이크로 반응 기술을 중소형 천연가스 및 국내에서 소규모로 국지적으로 발생하는 메탄의 활용 방안으로서 개발함은 청정 합성유를 제조함으로서 석유 자원의 고갈과 고유가에 대비하여 에너지 자원의 다변화 및 자립을 확보 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 마이크로 반응기술을 적용한 미세 유로 반응기(Micro Channel Reactor)를 사용하여 메탄 스팀 개질 반응 특성을 연구하였다. 미세유로 반응기는 내부 홀이 존재하는 plate를 적층함으로 반응기내에 반응가스가 이동할 수 있는 미세유로가 존재하게 하였다. 이러한 미세유로는 반응기의 크기가 작음에도 반응기내에서 반응가스가 충분히 반응할 수 있는 시간과 높은 열전달 효율을 가질 수 있게 한다. 메탄 스팀 개질 반응에 사용된 촉매는 Ni 촉매를 사용하였고, 반응에 필요한 열원으로는 수소 연소에서 발생한 열을 사용하여 반응을 유도하였다. 본 반응기는 외부의 열원을 사용하지 않고, 반응기 내부의 수소 연소에서 발생한 열을 사용함으로 적은 발생 열만으로 메탄 스팀 개질 반응에 필요한 에너지를 얻을 수 있고, 열의 손실이 적다. 또한 메탄 스팀 개질 반응으로 발생한 일부의 수소를 열원으로 이용하여 에너지 사용면에서도 효율적인 반응 공정이다.

  • A model combustor has been designed and fabricated for studying the combustion characteristics of oxygen (O2)/hydrogen (H2) flames under supercritical conditions. The combustor is designed to allow combustion experiments up to 60 bar, the supercritical pressure condition of O2 and H2. Injectors can be replaced to study various types of flames and the combustion chamber is designed to visualize flames by installing optical windows. Through the preliminary tests, including a high-pressure (up to 60 bar) test using air and combustion tests for coaxial jet flames of liquid oxygen (LO2)/gaseous hydrogen (GH2) at elevated pressure, the reliability of the combustor has been demonstrated.

  • This study investigates the combustion characteristics of methane-hydrogen-air premixture in a constant volume combustion chamber. Primary factors of the combustion characteristics of methane- hydrogen-air premixture are the equivalence ratio and hydrogen supplement rate. In the case of $\phi$= 1.1, maximum combustion pressure and heat release rate have peaks, and they increase as the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate increase. The total burning time is also the shortest at the $\phi$= 1.1, it shorten by lowering the initial pressure and by increasing the hydrogen supplement rate. The maximum flame temperature is shown at the $\phi$= 1.0, and increasing the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate, it increases. The concentration of NO reveals the highest value at the $\phi$= 0.9, and it increases by increasing the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate. It is also found that the limit of lean inflammability of methane-hydrogen-air premixture is greatly widened by increasing the hydrogen supplement rate.
