Alcohol-Amine Synergism in the Organic Solvent Extraction of Tungsten (텅스텐의 아민용매 추출과정에서의 알코올의 작용)

  • The organic solvent mixture of 5 % trioctylamine and 5 % n-octyl alcohol in n-hexane could be loaded with tungsten to 62 g $WO_3$/1 whereas the amine alone could be loaded only to 37 g $WO_3$/1. Molecular interaction between amine and tungstate ion during the solvent extraction process and the synergistic effect of alcohol in enhancing the solubility of the amine-tungstate complex have been studied by NMR spectroscopy. Tungsten has been shown to be extracted as a polymeric tungstate ion into the organic phase to form a trioctyl ammonium polytungstate salt, which was more stabilized in the hydrocarbon medium by interacting with alcohol via hydrogen bonding between the tungstate ion and alcohol.

  • Hydrogen purification is generally performed through chemical and physical methods. Among various types of purification method PSA(Pressure Swing Adsorption) is widely used with its purification capacity and economic efficiency. In Korea, most of the hydrogen used in automobiles and power generation fuel cells is purified using PSA. Hydrogen produced in petrochemical complexes has difficulties in transportation. The government is planning to install hydrogen extractors that produce hydrogen directly from consumers in connection with the city gas supply chain, and companies are also installing related research and demonstration facilities one after another. Europe and others have recently established safety standards related to PSA and are making efforts for systematic safety management at the construction and operation stage, but domestic safety standards related to PSA are still insufficient. This study aims to identify problems of existing facilities through surveys and risk assessment by companies operating existing PSA, and to prepare domestic technical standards including them in overseas technical standards to promote the safety of new and existing PSA systems.

Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Chinmey Soot Extract by High-Resolution Gas Chromatography (고분리능 기체크로마토그라피에 의한 굴뚝재추출물안의 다환방향족 탄화수소의 정량에 관한 연구)

  • 대기오염물질 속에 함유되어 있는 다환방향족 탄화수소 (PAHs)는 분자식 구조가 비슷한 수십개의 이성질체가 여러 종류의 유기화합물과 혼합되어 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 환경오염 시료중의 PAHs를 분석하는데 있어서 분석방법과 결과를 비교하기 위하여 지침이 될 수 있는 환경표준 기준물을 개발할 목적으로 굴뚝 안쪽벽에서 긁어 채취한 검댕을 시료로 선책하여 액체/액체 용매 추출방법에 의해 PAHs 분류부분을 얻었다. Phenanthrene 이외의 30여종의 PAHs 화합물을 가스크로마토그라피의 머무른시간과 가스크로마토그라피/질량분석기에 의하여 분리, 판명하였고 5종의 주 PAHs 화합물을 정확하게 정량 분석하였다. 정량분석 결과의 신뢰도, 정확도, 정밀도는 미국 NBS의 표준기준물 1647을 분석하여 검정치와 비교함으로써 평가하였다.

  • In this paper, aging of insulating oil in pole transformer has been studied by performing accelerated thermal aging test. Dissolved gases were extracted by air bubbling method. Concentration of dissolved gases were modified by extraction ratio of each gases in insulting oil. Aging of insulting materials were proceeded by thermal degradation and oxidation reaction. Both of the reactions followed zeroth order kinetics. Formation rate equations for hydrocarbons, carbon oxides, and hydrogen were derived. It was conformed by gas analysis and UV-visible spectrophotometric method that iron core and copper coil in pole transformer act as catalyst during the aging process.

Translation Inhibition Activity and Antifungal Activity of Korean Propolis (프로폴리스의 단백질합성저해활성 및 항진균활성)

  • It has been known that propolis possesses anti-infective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidative properties. Although antifungal activity of Propolis has already been demonstrated, very few studies has been conducted for action mechanism and its spectrum on fungi. We found that ethanol extract of propolis (EEP) inhibited in vitro translation. Since we also observed the growth inhibition of pathogenic fungi and anti-oxidative properties preliminarily, we try to see where those properties come from. Therefore we extracted the EEP further with chloroform, ethyl acetate and butanol. When their fractions were examined for the growth inhibition of Candida albicans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida glabrata, Candida lusitaniae, Cryptococcos neoformans, chloroform fraction exhibited the highest anti-fungal as well as anti-oxidative properties. Similarly the chloroform fraction showed highest translation-inhibiting activities among the various Propolis fractions. These data indicate that those properties might come from similar compounds.

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 일반인의 비직업적 노출에 대한 혈중 16종의 다환방향족탄화수소(PAHs) 의 농도르 분석하여 PAHs의 백그라운드 노출 농도를 평가하는 것이다. 내용 및 방법: 농촌지역에 거주(비직업적 노출로서 16종 다환방향족탄화수소가 특정한 환경오염을 받지 않은 지역에 거주)하는 156명의 연구 참여자의 혈중 16가지 다환방향족탄화수소 농도의 기하평균치를 간접흡연군, 구운 음식물섭취군과 각대조군을 비교 하였다. 혈중 16종의 다환방향족탄화수소의 농도는 질량분석기를 장착한 가스크로마토그라피법과 헤드스페이스 마이크로고체상 추출법에 의하여 분석하였다. 결과: 연구참여자 중, 간접흡연자들에서 4종의 다환방향족탄화수소 아세나프틸렌(p<0.01), 아세나프텐(p<0.1), 플로렌(p<0.01), 피렌(p=0.05)가 대조군 보다 유의하게 높았다. 또한 구운육류와 생선 섭취군에서는 벤조(a)피렌(p<0.1)이 대조군 보다 유의하게 높았다. 결론: 간접흡연과 구운음식물 섭취는 비직업적 노출에서 다환방향족탄화수소 노출원의 가능성이 높다고 추정된다. 혈중 다환방향족탄화수소는 한국일반인의 비직업적 노출 농도로 사용 가능하다고 생각된다.

Reactive Extraction of Succinic Acid by Amino Extractants and Comparison of Extraction Characteristics of Maleic Acid (아민계 추출제를 이용한 숙신산의 반응추출 및 말산과의 추출특성 비교)

  • Succinic acid is of interested as the raw material of biodegradable polymer. In this study, succinic acid was separated by reactive extraction using amine extractants such as TOA (trioctylamine) and Aliquat 336. The extractability of TOA for succinic acid was higher than that of Aliquat 336. The distribution of succinic acid into organic phase was decreased with increasing pH in aqueous phase. However, the effect of pH on the extractability of Aliquat 336 was little. In the case of maleic acid which has similar structure to succinic acid, the extractability for maleic acid was higher than that for succinic acid. It was mainly due to the difficulty of deprotonation of second carboxylic group by intramolecular hydrogen bonding.

A Study of Analytical Methods for Oils in Contaminated Soil (오염 토양중의 유류 분석법)

  • To analyze of oils in contaminated soils, it is necessary to classify of oils accurately and it has to be selected suitable extraction method and instrumental analysis method in according to the character of sample. In this study, oils are classified into three groups-gasoline, diesel and kerosene-we consider extraction methods and quantitative analysis method of these oils using GC/MS. As the analysis example of real sample, we analyze some gasolines and diesels of some oil refining company and calculate BTEX in gasoline and saturated n-hydrocarbons in diesel. And also, we study the representative quantitative method of each kind of oils.

Studies on Preparation and Ion Exchange Characteristics of Humic Acid Membranes (Humic Acid 분리막의 제조와 이온교환 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Humic acid has been extracted and purified from biologically nondegradable humic substances. Using the ion exchange capability of carboxylic acids which are the main component of the humic acids, a membrane was prepared with poly(viny1 alcohol). Its transport behavior of biologically active ions, $K^+$and $Na^+$, were investigated. The ion transport velocity increased with hydrogen ion concentration, especially, in the range of $10^-1$~$10^0$. The selectivity increased with increasing the concentrations of $K^{+}$ and Na$^{+}$, In particular, the transport velocity of $K^+$ increased twice compared to that of $Na^+$ at the 100 hydrogen ion concentration. In this regards, humic acid may be used as a new material for ion exchange membranes.
