  • The farm house structure, ventilation system and manure treatment of two-storey buildings and sawdust pig houses were surveyed and analyzed. Based on the data for ten selected farms in five provinces during eight months, the goal is to eventually establish a standard two-storey pig house. Manure treatments were composting, slurry and activated sludge in two-storey pig houses, while fermentation method was done in sawdust pig house. The depth of sawdust as a litter material were 10 to 60cm, with a duration of 1/2, 1, 3 and 6 months, respectively. The ventilation systems were the mechanical type in two-storey pig houses and natural system in the sawdust pig house. Side wall in the two-storey pig house was enclosed with insulation materials such as block, colored metal sheet and sandwich panels. The minimum ceiling height in the first floor of the two-storey pig house was 2.0m and the maximum was 3.0m. On the second floor, ceiling height ranged from 2.0 to 2.7m. The construction cost in the two-storey systems were $700\~140$, and sidewall curtain systems were $30\~40$ thousand Won/pyung.

  • This study was performed about composting in a batch reactor of laboratory scale using garbage waste and swine waste. Sawdust and coconut peat were materials to control optimum moisture, C/N ratio and specific gravity in the study. Comparing compost using only sawdust with compost using sawdust and coconut peat, the latter was higher at reduction rate and decomposition rate. Coconut peat was accelerated aerobic fermentation, because it had moisture holding ability, initial moisture was low, ventilation was good and control of optimum specific gravity was possible. Compost by only garbage waste was under standard of manure. but mixtures in same proportion of garbage waste and swine waste producted high quality compost. CEC value was average 63.8me/100g. The initial C/N ratio of compost was regulated effectively because of high C/N ratio of sawdust. As the C/N ratio(>40) was higher, reduction rate was higher. During the composting C/N ratio was improved more and more.

  • This study was carried out to investigate on the composting characteristics variation accoding to air supply capacity in Pig manure. The composting of pig manure is economical and efficiently process. The fermented compost was added in pig manure mixed with sawdust was composting reators. Air supply capacity levels of fermented compost on the pig manure mixed with sawdust were regulated at 50, 100, 150 and 200$\ell/m^3$/min. respectively. The obtained results can be followed as bellow; The temperature variations of experimental composting piles during composting for the different of T-1 reach $40^{\circ}C$ in 2 days, T-2, T-3 and T-4 reach $60^{\circ}C$ in 2 days and T-3, T-4 maintained until 8 days. The decreases in water contents per each square meter for the different of T-1 (50 l/$m^3$/min), T-2(100 l/$m^3$/min), T-3(150 l/$m^3$/min) and T-4(200 l/$m^3$/min.), The decreases ratio in water contents was T-1, T-2, T-3 and T-4 were 15.4%, 28.8%, 33.4% and 35.2%. The decreases ratio in weight was T-1, T-2, T-3 and T-4 were 7.6%, 15.6%, 16.8% and 16.9% respectively. The variations of oxygen concentration from composting period in case of oxygen discharge concentration T-1, T-2, T-3 and T-4 were 9 ppm. respectively. Fertilizer components after composting were examined. Nitrogen contents of the T-1, T-2, T-3 and T-4 were 0.45%, 0.44%, 0.42% and 0.44%, and P2O5 contents were T-1, T-2, T-3 and T-4 were 0.37%, 0.41%, 0.42% and 0.44% respectively. Therefore, the compost curing air supply of air volumes at least 150$\ell$/min/min. or more to supply the aerobic composting pig manure normally are judged to be possible.

  • This study was carried out in order to reduce the amount of sawdust for recycling the generated manure from livestock farms, and to investigate the effects on the reducing usage of sawdust and quality of produced compost. To do this, a cylindrical horizontal composting device were used in the experiments and compost was analyzed for judging produce compost quality. The experiment was carried out separately under different cases of operational control conditions. The first case was produced by using sawdust and pig manure mixture(Test-1); the second case was produced by using sawdust, pig manure and the previously produced compost(Test-2). In the second case, Except for some heavy metal content, The water content and C/N ratio were found to be suitable for fertilizer process specification of the RDA(Rural Development Administration) and it was found to reduce the sawdust 1.25tons usage.

  • This study was conducted to develope the new solid separating system which can be efficiently and economically removed the solid parts in high pollutants concentration of pig slurry. The pollutants concentration, BOD$_{5}$ , COD and SS of the slurry used in this study was 15,990($\pm$2,389)mg/l, 20,004($\pm$5,512)mg/l and 26,486($\pm$5,935)mg/l, respectively. After removal of solid part in slurry, the pollutants concentration, BOD$_{5}$, COD and SS was change into 5,617($\pm$690)mg/l, 5,553($\pm$633)mg/land 1,456($\pm$341)mg/l, respectively in the Fixed biological membrane tank. The reduction of the pollutants concentration of suspend liquid through membrane will be allowed to greatly improve the water purification by an Activated sludge method. This separating system consisted of a temporary storage, a circulating tank and a Fixed Biological membrane tank. A temporary storage which has a draining system of screw type and an aeration device played a tremendous role in draining the solid by filled an aeration of 0.3 l/min. A Fixed Biological membrane tank of which a styrofoam filled in a 2/3 volume as a Biological media was fixed by a stainless steel net (pore size : 0.5mm) to separate the liquid layer of influx in them. The separating system efficiency factors were the speed of screw motor, cycle number of slurries in a circulating tank and moisture contents of solid effluent through the screw path. Although the pollutants concentration was very variable in temporary storage, the final concentration of $BOD_5$ and SS, except COD of the suspended liquid in a Fixed biological membrane were not different regardless of cycle number of a circulating tank. Moisture contents of effluent from temporary storage was 73% under the speed 1 ppm of screw motor and 62% under the 1/4rpm of it.
