Fuzzy rule based automated liver function test analysis (퍼지논리에 입각한 간기능 검사 결과의 자동분석)

  • 퍼지규칙에 기반을 둔 간기능검사 자동 분석 시스템을 제안하였다. 전문의의 지식과 경험을 수리화한 소속함수를 설정한 후 4가지의 간질환이 있는 118명의 환자를 대상으로 측정된 6종목의 간기능검사 결과에 적용하여 80%의 높은 적중율을 얻었다. 질환별 적중향상은 전문의가 판정한 때 예상되는 것과 일치하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 시스템은 유사한 상황의 모든 진단시스템에 동일하게 적용할 수 있다.

  • 영재의 특성은 다양한 분야에 대한 관심과 재능을 가지고 있으며 지적 호기심에 대한 도전의식이 강하다. 영재교육프로그램은 이러한 영재들의 지적호기심을 자극하여 영재로서 갖추어야할 제반 능력들을 균형 있게 길러 줄 수 있어야한다. 그러나 현재까지 개발된 대부분의 영재교육프로그램들은 여전히 논리와 이론을 중시하여 수리능력, 창의적 문제해결력 등 대부분 지적 능력신장에 치중하는 경향이 있다. 이러한 프로그램만으로는 교과별 학습을 통하여 얻게 되는 개념과 원리들을 생활과 관련지어 이해하거나 다양한 분야에 적용하는 능력을 길러주는데는 한계가 있다. 따라서, 영재아들의 잠재능력을 계발하고, 교과간의 연결능력을 길러 새로운 분야를 창의적으로 개척할 수 있는 능력을 신장하기 위해서는 수학분야에 집중된 주제를 다루기보다는 개방적인 주제를 다루는 간학문형 프로그램 개발이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 수학분야나 지적영역에만 국한되는 편협성을 탈피하여 보다 창의적인 역량(creative competency)을 신장할 수 있는 수학과 관련성이 있는 간학문형(間學文型, inter-disciplinary)프로그램 개발 방안과 그 사례를 제시하고자한다.

  • Recently, two international standard organizations, ISO and OGC, have done the work of standardization for GIS. Current standardization work for providing interoperability among GIS DB focuses on the design of open interfaces. But, this work has not considered procedures and methods for designing GIS DB. Eventually, GIS DB has its own model. When we share the data by open interface among heterogeneous GIS DB, differences between models result in the loss of information. Our aim in this paper is to revise the design guidelines for geographic information databases in order to make consistent spatial data models, logical structures, and semantic structure of populated geographical databases. In details, we propose standard guidelines which convert ISO abstract schema into relation model, object-relation model, object-centered model, and geometry-centered model. Furthermore, we provide sample models for applying these guidelines in commercial GIS S/Ws. Building GIS DB based on design guidelines proposed in the paper has the following advantages: the interoperability among databases, the standardization of schema definitions, and the catalogue of GIS databases through.

  • A series of papers in recent literature on logical topology design for wavelength routed optical networks have proposed mathematical models and solution methods unifying logical topology design wavelength assignment and traffic routing. The most recent one is by Krishnaswamy and Sivarajan which is more unifying and complete than the previous models. Especially the mathematical formulation is an integer linear program and hence regarded in readiness for an efficient solution method compared to the previous nonlinear programming models. The solution method in [7] is however elementary one relying on the rounding of linear program relaxation. When the rounding happens to be successful it tends to produce near-optimal solutions. In general there is no such guarantee so that the obtained solution may not satisfy the essential constraints such as logical -path hop-count and even wavelength number constraints. Also the computational efforts for linear program relaxation seems to be too excessive. In this paper we propose an improved and unifying solution method based on the same to be too excessive. In this paper we propose an improved and unifying solution method based on the same model. First its computation is considerably smaller. Second it guarantees the solution satisfies all the constraints. Finally applied the same instances the quality of solution is fairly competitive to the previous near optimal solution.

Turing's Cognitive Science: A Metamathematical Essay for His Centennial (튜링의 인지과학: 튜링 탄생 백주년을 기념하는 메타수학 에세이)

  • The centennial of Alan Mathison Turing(23 June 1912 - 7 June 1954) is an appropriate occasion on which to assess his profound influence on the development of cognitive science. His contributions to and attitudes toward that field are discussed from the metamathematical perspective. This essay addresses (i)Turing's mathematical analysis of cognition, (ii)universal Turing machines, (iii)the limitations of universal Turing machines, (iv)oracle Turing machine beyond universal Turing machine, and (v)Turing test for cognitive science. Turing was a ground-breaker, eager to move on to new fields. He actually opened wider the scientific windows to the mind. The results show that first, by means of mathematical logic Turing discovered a new bridge between the mind and the physical world. Second, Turing gave a new formal analysis of operations of the mind. Third, Turing investigated oracle Turing machines and connectionist network machines as new models of minds beyond the limitations of his own universal machines. This paper explores why the cognitive scientist would be ever expecting a new Turing Test on the shoulder of Alan Turing.

Mathematical modeling approach for classroom assignment problem (수리적 모델링을 통한 강의실 배정문제 해법에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, as the education population of Korea has been rapidly declining, many changes have been taking place in the university environment. Especially, community colleges linked to local communities have responded to these crises through various educational changes, such as three-year study transfers, work-parallelism, and employee commissioned education. However, such changes in the contents of education are causing a new type of classroom allocation problem, in which it is difficult to assign the limited number of classrooms to the major courses. In this paper, we classified the constraints involved in assigning classrooms into absolute constraints and relative constraints, mathematically modeled them, and allocated the classrooms optimally through optimization software. The results were satisfactory and enabled us to obtain superior results in terms of the various performance indices (classroom utilization rate, teacher satisfaction, etc.) than when assigning classrooms in the normal way.

  • As integrated essay writing is performed in university entrance examinations, teachers and students recognize the importance of integrated essay, but teachers have still difficulties of teaching methods. The purpose of this study is to derive educational implications through case of mathematics instruction for integrated essay education to pre-service mathematics teachers. The content knowledge of this class is a definition of conic section in mathematics and properties of conic section in an antenna reflector. The students have to discover them using the history of math, manipulative material, paper-folding and computer simulation. In this teaching and learning process the students can realize mathematical knowledge invented by humans through history of mathematics. The students can evaluate the validity of that as create and justify a mathematical proposition. Also, the students can explain the relation between them logically and descript cause or basis convincingly in the process of justifying. We should keep our study to instructional materials and teaching methods in integrated essay education.

A Study on the Prediction of Groundwater Contamination using GIS (GIS를 이용한 지하수오염 예측에 관한 연구)

  • This study has tried to develop the modified DRASTIC Model by supplying the parameters, such as structural lineament density and land-use, into conventional DRASTIC model, and to predict the potential of groundwater contamination using GIS in Hwanam 2 District, Gyeonggi Province, Korea. Since the aquifers in Korea is generally through the joints of rock-mass in hydrogeological environment, lineament density affects to the behavior of groundwater and contaminated plumes directly, and land-use reflect the effect of point or non-point source of contamination indirectly. For the statistical analysis, lattice-layers of each parameter were generated, and then level of confidence was assessed by analyzing each correlation coefficient. Groundwater contamination potential map was achieved as a final result by comparing modified DRASTIC potential and the amount of pollutant load logically. The result suggest the predictability of contamination potential in a specified area in the respects of hydrogeological aspect and water quality.
