Before evaluating convergent, discriminant, and known-groups validity, it is suggested to design an instrument that reflects hypothetical relationships or differences with other comparator instruments or groups. For criterion validity, a gold-standard instrument measuring the same construct should be carefully selected.

The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of Stroke Impact Scale 3.0 (SIS 3.0). Here, the SIS 3.0 was completed by 154 stroke patients (mean = 62.7; standard deviation [SD] = 9.43). Construct validity was verified by analyzing the correlation between SIS 3.0 sub-domains, and convergent validity was investigated by analyzing the correlation between the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) and the Mini-Mental State Examination-Korean (K-MMSE) version. The characteristics of each item were analyzed by internal consistency and item discrimination based on the classical item theory. Construct and convergent validity were verified through this study. Although the item i included in the emotion domain showed low item discrimination, all but this item showed high discrimination. Internal consistency was also high in all sub-domains.

Objective : The aim of this study was to verify validity of the Activity Participation Assessment for school-age children. Methods : A questionnaire consisting of 30 items from the APA, 75 items from the PACS, and 55 items from the CAPE was administered to elementary school students. A total of 207 questionnaires were analyzed. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to confirm the construct validity of the APA. Convergence validity and discriminant validity were verified with the average variance extracted (AVE) and the square of the correlation coefficient. The discriminant validity was the Pearson correlation coefficient of the APA, PACS, and CAPE. Results : The results of the analysis were as follows: 1) For construct validity, the goodness of fit of the modified hierarchical second-order factor model was found to be appropriate (p < .001), 2) For convergent validity, the AVE was higher than .50 for all latent variables, 3) For discriminant validity, the AVE of the latent variable was greater than the square of the correlation coefficient (0.239), 4) For concurrent validity, the correlation between the total sum of the APA and PACS scores showed a positive correlation in all domains, and the correlation coefficient ranged from .303 to .647 at a statistically significant level (p < .01), 5) The correlation coefficient between the total sum of the APA and CAPE scores was .490 for recreational activities, .329 for physical activities, .571 for social activities, .401 for skill-based activities, and .390 for self-improvement activities. All domains showed a positive correlation, and were statistically significant (p < .01). Conclusion : APA can be used as a valid assessment tool to measure the participation of school aged children.
This study aimed to develop the short-form of age-friendly scale which was suitable for the Korean cities and to examine the validity. To develop the scale, WHO and Seoul welfare foundation's age-friendly city guide were compared and analyzed. The data for this study were collected on people aged over 55 years old living in Seoul. The results in exploratory factor analysis showed that seven-factor structure model was appropriate for the scale. Seven factors were outdoor amenity, transportation, leisure activity, social participation, social communication, health and welfare service, social exclusion. The results supported the construct and concurrent validity of the age-friendly scale. Also its good internal consistency was confirmed. The implication and limitation of the study and suggestions for the future studies were discussed.
This study aimed to develop a scale to measure physical health behaviors among social work clients using general services. The scale items were constructed based on literature review and FGI of social workers. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmative factor analysis affirmed the factor structure of Physical Health Behavior Scale with two sub-scales: Health Promotion Behavior Scale and Health Hindrance Behavior Scale. Promotion Scale had 7 factors and Hindrance Scale had 5 factors. Both sub-scales showed acceptable ranged goodness-of-fit for the model, and internal consistency test proved that the scale was reliable. The analyses of discriminant validity, convergent validity, and concurrent validity resulted significant validation. Based on those results, the developed Physical Health Behavior Scale were proved well-constructed, reliable and valid. The Scale will be utilized for both clients in general to check their own health related behaviors and social workers to adopt as a tool for assessment in order to perform an evidence based practice.
This study aims to evaluate psychometric properties of the korean version of the secondary traumatic stress scale. A total of 238 practitioners in child protection agencies are recruited using complete enumeration method. The psychometric properties of the instrument are tested by item-analysis, exploratory factor analysis,(EFA) and convergent and construct validity. The results show that the internal consistency values for the two dimensions of the K-STSS are good. While the convergent and discriminant validity is empirically confirmed, the construct validity is not supported. The EFA with the common factor analysis method reveals the factor structure in the observed variables. The findings of the study confirmed that although it was reliable and discriminant, the K-STSS needed to be explored more in a way to support construct validity.

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate Korean Game Addiction Scale for children and adolescents. Data from a representative sample of 3,115 children and adolescents residing in Korea were analyzed to identify the factor structure and reliability of the scale. In addition, criterion-related evidence of validity (concurrent and convergent) was examined. Consistent with our theoretical assumptions, the Korean Game Addiction Scale revealed a stable higher order factor structure (second order-one factor, first order-seven factors), and the reliability of the scale was high (average Cronbach's alpha = .84, six week test-retest reliability = .75). The scale was also showed high levels of concurrent and convergent validity. Implications of the findings and directions for future research on game addiction are discussed.

Objective: The purpose of this study was performed to modify the performance-based assessment tool, Melbourne Low-Vision ADL Index (MLVAI) had been developed in Australia to suit the Korea culture to verify the reliability and validity. Methods: The subjects were only over the age of 20 living in communities, 26 with low-vision and 42 normal persons. The Korean MLVAI was completed through the expert translation verification and validation of the configuration tool. The validity of the Korean MLVAI was established through the content, discriminant, and convergent validity. Also, the reliability was analyzed through internal consistency reliability for the items, test-retest, and interrater reliability. Results: The Content Validity Index(CVI) was more than .78. There was a statically significant low in low-vision. Also, there was a statically significant low in low-vision. The convergent validity was determined the correlation coefficient of .751 analyzing LVQOL and Korean MLVAI total score, had a significant correlation(p<.05). Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient indicated an internal consistency of .983(p<.05). Test-retest reliability had a high, significant correlation of .976 and interrater reliability had a high, an intraclass correlation coefficient of .91(p<.05). Conclusion: The results of this study mean that the Korean MLVAI which was modified to fit the Korean is the ADL assessment tool with both validity and reliability. Based on this study, the Korean MLVAI can be used as a useful ADL assessment for OT interventions in low vision.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate dimensionality and psychometric properties of identified theoretical constructs of the 'Life Satisfaction Scale for Elderly(LSSE)', which was developed by Choi, Sung-Jae in 1986. Data was obtained from 'The survey of health and welfare status of the elderly aged 65 or older in Chung-Choo city'. The subjects were 275 elderly. Results showed that LSSE had a multi-dimensional structure with three theoretical constructs. Each theoretical construct was named as 'positive affect and subjective satisfaction', 'negative self image and affect', and 'self-value'. Three theoretical constructs had high levels of reliability and validity based on internal construct. 'Positive affect and subjective satisfaction' and 'negative self image and affect' showed high levels of convergent and discriminant validity. 'Self-value' had a high level of convergent validity but acceptable level of discriminant validity. Results of this study revealed that there was a difference in theoretical dimensionality of LSSE between this study and Choi's study, which explained the dimensionality of LSSE as a single dimension. However, the result of this study regarding theoretical dimensionality supported findings from existing studies which insisted that life satisfaction had a multi-dimensional structure.
