A study on the Activation Methods of Food Volume Meter by improving the Inlet Function (투입구 기능 개선을 통한 음식물쓰레기종량제 활성화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Under the government's principle of paying for emissions, the RFID-based pay-as-you-go system, which charges fees in proportion to emissions, was fully implemented in 2012. As of the end of 2018, the penetration rate is about 40% based on 149 local governments and multi-family apartments nationwide. The introduction of equipment showed a reduction effect of about 20-30%. Problems with existing equipment also began to appear. This study tried to improve by applying and integrating the existing technologies to solve the fundamental problems of these inlets. In other words, the plan is to improve the environment around the food waste meter by changing the design so that the hopper goes deep into the food waste bin inside the food waste meter so that the food waste becomes full and is designed smoothly when replacing the collection container.

Monitoring of Pesticide Residues on Herbs and Spices in the Incheon Metropolitan Area (인천 지역에 유통 중인 향신식물 및 향신료가공품 잔류농약 안전성 조사)

  • In this study we investigated pesticide residues on herbs and spices disrtibuted in the Incheon Metropolitan area. A total of 112 samples were purchased from off-line and on-line markets from January to October 2020. In accordance with the implementation of the Positive List System (PLS), the proper usage of pesticides is now being enforced. It is assumed that unregistered pesticides are being used on herbs and spices due to the low number of registered pesticides in the agricultural industry. Pesticide residue levels were not detected in 99 samples but 11 kinds of pesticides in 6 samples (13 times) exceeded the MRLs. The pesticides that were used in accordance with the PLS were Diazinon, Diethofencarb and Pyridalyl. However, unregistered pesticides were on the herbs and spices. Therefore, it is necessary to educate producers of herbs and spices on the appropriate use of pesticides. It is also necessary to establish MRLs on herbs and spices.

  • The purpose of the study is to collect basis data for to establish standard administrative processes of liquid fertilizer treatment. From this survey we could make out the key point of each step through a case of effective liquid manure treatment system in pig house. It is divided into six step; 1. piggery slurry management step, 2. Solid-liquid separation step, 3. liquid fertilizer treatment (aeration) step, 4. liquid fertilizer treatment (microorganism, recirculation and internal return) step, 5. liquid fertilizer treatment (completion) step, 6. land application step. From now on, standardization process of liquid manure treatment technologies need to be develop based on the six steps process.

Nitrogen Release from Hairy Vetch(Vicia villosa Roth) Residue in Relation to Different Tillages and Plant Growth Stage (생육단계 및 경운방법에 따른 헤어리베치 녹비의 질소방출 패턴의 변화)

  • Assessment of N release pattern from hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth) residue is an important step for the efficient use of the residue as a green manure and the specific management strategy development. Objective of this research was to determine the changes of chemical composition, especially in light of the N release, when the residues of hairy vetch were applied in the soil. hairy vetch was harvested at different growth stages (April 23, May 9, and May 28) and the residues were encapsulated in the nylon mesh (1 mm) bag. The bags were placed on the surface of no-tillage plots and buried at 15cm in depth in conventional tillage plots of the corn field in early June. The bags were removed for measurements of dry matter and N content at 1, 2, 3. 5, 8 and 12 weeks after placement. Dry matter and N content of hairy vetch were higher when harvested closer to maturity, as also found in C/N ratio, cellulose and hemicellulose contents. The rate of N releases from hairy vetch residue under conventional tillage condition was greater than that under no-tillage condition. Percentages of N remaining in residue over the initial N contents under conventional tillage condition were in average 40, 23, and 15% for 1, 2, and 3 weeks after placement of mesh bag, respectively, compared with respective values of 71, 31, and 21% under no-tillage condition. The rate of N release was slower as the harvest time was closer to maturity of hairy vetch under both tillage conditions. Most of N in residue was released within 3 and 5 weeks, under conventional and no-tillage conditions, respectively. Results indicated that amounts of N released from hairy vetch residue were more closely related to the variability of N contents in residue due to the harvest time than changes of chemical composition of plant or soil management.

Monitoring Total Mercury and Methylmercury in Commonly Consumed Aquatic Foods (다소비 수산식품 중 총수은 및 메틸수은 모니터링)

  • Total mercury and methylmercury concentrations were determined in 15 commonly consumed aquatic food species using total mercury analyzer and gas chromatography with electron capture detector. The mean total mercury and methylmercury concentrations (mg/kg) were 0.088 and 0.034 in mackerel, 0.061 and 0.016 in hair tail, 0.030 and 0.005 in yellow croaker, 0.032 and 0.008 in Alaska pollock, 0.059 and 0.023 in eastern catfish, 0.110 and 0.045 in snakehead, 0.030 and 0.011 in Japanese common squid, 0.026 and 0.009 in common octopus, 0.035 and 0.008 in swimming crab, 0.009 and not detected (ND) in oyster, 0.011 and ND in shortneck clam, 0.008 and ND in mussel, 0.018 and ND in sea mustard, 0.007 and ND in nori, and 0.019 and ND in sea tangle, respectively. The total weekly dietary intakes of total mercury and methylmercury were estimated, respectively, using food consumption data from diet surveys and the concentrations of total mercury and methylmercury from this study. They were $0.178\;{\mu}g/kg$ body weight (b.w.)/week (3.57% of provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI)) and $0.052\;{\mu}g/kg$ b.w./week (3.34% of PTWI) respectively, and all were within their respective PTWI set by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA). Therefore, considering that the main contributor to mercury intake in the diet is aquatic foods and that the 15 aquatic food species examined in this study are highly consumed, it is concluded that the mercury levels in the foods measured in this study do not present a concern for consumer health.

Investigation on Characteristics of Swine Manure of Optimum Volume for Escalator Reversing Composting Facility (돼지분뇨 특성에 따른 기계교반 퇴비화시설의 적정용적 산정 연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate evaporation rate of moisture per surface area and degradation rate of organic matter in full scale escalator reversing composting facility were analyzed to develope a computer program for the computation of an optimum volume of composting facility according to handling methods of swine farm, moisture levels of manure, degradation rate of organics and evaporation rate of moisture during composting. The obtained results can be followed as bellow; The temperature in full scale escalator reversing composting facility during composting reached $70^{\circ}C$ in 4 days and maintained until 11 days. Reduction rate of moisture and density was average 1.20% and 29.7%, respectively. Annual degradation rate of organic matter was 3.53%, showing lowest rate in winter as 3.23%. These seasonal degradation rate could be a factor to be considered for proper management and installation of composting facility. When computed with the amount of feces, urine, slurry and manure plus wastewater produced, the optimum volumes of composting facility for slurry and manure plus wastewater including each 95% moisture was $229m^3$ and $277m^3$, respectively, showing 21% ($48m^3$) difference.

The Residue Property of Fungicide Dimethomorph and Pyraclostrobin in Green Onion under Greenhouse Condition (시설재배 쪽파에서 살균제 Dimethomorph와 Pyraclostrobin의 잔류특성)

  • In order to use in the classification of minor crop for the mutual application of safe use guideline, it was investigated the residue property of fungicide dimethomorph and pyraclostrobin in green onion, a stem-crop. After pesticides were applied 2 times with 1 week interval in that day of harvest, 3 days, 7 days, 10 days and 14 days before harvest, a green onion was harvested. The residue of dimethomorph in a green onion was 26.31 and 39.08 mg/kg in that day of harvest, however, in according to elapse time, it was reduced to 6.86 and 9.34 mg/kg in 14 days before harvest. In case of pyraclostrobin, it was also reduced from 13.46 and 39.08 mg/kg to 3.57 and 5.21 mg/kg. Based on the residue in that day of harvest, the deposit of spray solution in a green onion was calculated. The deposit of spray solution of dimethomorph was 274.35~345.84 mL/kg, in case of pyraclostrobin, it was calculated 213.65~343.33 mL/kg. When the amount of the deposit of both pesticides was compared in a green onion, it was so similar. On the other hand, it was estimated the predicted dissipation curve of pesticides in the green onion during cultivation. The half-life of dimethomorph was 6.95~7.45 days, in case of pyraclostrobin, 7.15~7.45 days. When both pesticides were compared with the residue property, the deposit of spray solution and half-life of dissipation were so similar.

The residue property of fungicide boscalid and fluidioxonil at the same time harvest leafy-vegetables (일시수확 엽채류에서 살균제 Boscalid와 Fludioxonil의 잔류특성)

  • In order to use in the classification of minor crop for the mutual application of safe use guideline, it was investigated the residue property of fungicide boscalid and fludioxonil at the same time harvest leafy-vegetables, such as spinach, ulgaribaechu, vitaminchae and cheongkyungchae. After pesticides were applied 2 times with 1 week interval in that day of harvest, 2 days, 5 days and 7 days before harvest, vegetables were harvested, and the residue of pesticides was investigated. Base on the residue in that day of harvest, the deposit of spray solution in vegetables was calculated. The deposit of spray solution of boscalid was 253.9 mL/kg in spinach, 83.0 mL/kg in ulgaribaechu, 97.8 mL/kg in vitaminchae, and 88.3 mL/kg in cheongkyungchae, respectively. In case of fludioxonil, it was calculated 157.6 mL/kg in spinach, 67.6 mL/kg in ulgaribaechu, 64.8 mL/kg in vitaminchae, and 66.6 mL/kg in cheongkyungchae, respectively. When the amount of the deposit of both pesticides was compared in leafy-vegetables, it was the highest in the spinach. On the other hand, it was estimated the predicted dissipation curve of pesticides in leafy-vegetables during cultivation. The half-life of boscalid was 5.9 days in spinach, 7.4 days in ulgaribaechu, 4.6 days in vitaminchae, and 4.3 days in cheongkyungchae, respectively. Also, it was estimated half-life in fludioxonil, it was 3.0 days in spinach, 4.0 days in ulgaribaechu, 3.2 days in vitaminchae, and 3.5 days in cheongkyungchae, respectively. The half-life was the longest in the ulgaribaechu. When both pesticides were compared with the residue property, the deposit of spray solution and half-life of dissipation of boscalid were more than those of fludioxonil.

Performance Test for the Long Distance Sprayer by an Image Processing (영상처리를 이용한 광역방제기 팬의 성능실험)

  • This research was carried out to test and analyze capacity of the long distance sprayer fan in large livestock farmhouses. Long distance sprayer was manufactured to be able to spray a lot of water, which was a solvent for agricultural chemicals and black dye with the maximum spraying distance of 140 m and the effective spraying distance of 100 m. The spraying quantity and the distance were measured the intensity values of images within A4 papers, which absorbed the agricultural chemicals by spraying by binary image processing. These A4 papers were fixed upon the height of 1 m from soil ground at regular 10 m interval. After the A4 papers were collected and analyzed the intensity values of gray level. Gray level was ranged from 0 to 255, where 0 was black and 255 was white. A4 paper was fallen down from the stick at 10 m distance, because there were too large amount of sprayed water with black dye. Also, the paper showed low gray level at distance 30 m because of dropping lots of black water. The intensity value of gray level was showed almost less than 200 on the A4 papers between the distance 20 m and 100 m, which meant equality of spraying quantity. Additionally, it was possible to spay agricultural chemicals of until 180 m. Throughout this research, long distance sprayer could apply for preventing hoof-and-mouth disease in large livestock farmhouses.

Simultaneous Determination of Caffeine, Theobromine and Theophylline in Tea Leaves by HPLC (HPLC를 이용한 다류 중 카페인, 테오브로민과 테오필린 동시분석 및 함량 조사)

  • This study was aimed at investigating the natural occurrence of caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline in tea leaves. Sample clean-up was based on a simple solid phase extraction (SPE) treatment, and simultaneous analysis was performed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This method showed good results in terms of linearity, recovery, precision, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantitation (LOQ). The caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline contents of tea leaves (n = 228) ranged from 5.4 to 58.2 mg/g, from not detected to 11.2 mg/g, and from not detected to 0.7 mg/g, respectively. The results obtained in this study can be used as fundamental data of caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline contents in tea leaves.
