  • The rapid development of mobile technology and the improvement of network speed are providing convenience to various services, and mobile shopping malls are no exception. Although efforts are being made to promote sales by combining various technologies such as customized recommendations using big data and specialized personalization services based on artificial intelligence, most mobile shopping malls have the same detailed page information structure including detailed product information. In this context, in this study, it was determined that the content layout of the product detail page and the mobile product detail page layout tailored to the consumer's preference should be presented according to the consumer's preference. Based on Higgins' Regulatory Focus Theory, a study of consumer propensity revealed that the content layout arrangement on a product detail page, when presented in an F-shape, informs the consumer that it is organized. If presented in a Z-shape, vivid information was recognized, and it was examined whether the product attitude and purchase intention were affected. As a result, when the content layout composition was presented as a layout arrangement in the form of a sense of unity and organization, prevention-focused consumers were positively affected by product attitudes and purchase intentions, and promotion-oriented consumers felt freedom. When presented in an arrangement, it was confirmed that the product attitude and purchase intention were affected.

The causal relationships of variables are also examined. The analysis was based on an online survey with 247 responses. Four types of internet shopping sites were developed and used as a stimulus. The results of the mean comparison analysis indicated that perceived variety, information overload, perceived shopping value and attitude towards the site varies significantly with product classification standards and structure. There was also of a marginally significant interaction between the classification standard and structure on perceived variety and information overload. The causal relationship analysis revealed that perceived variety positively influenced hedonic and utilitarian shopping value. However, information overload had a negative effect on hedonic and utilitarian shopping value. Both the hedonic and utilitarian shopping value positively influenced attitudes towards the sites. This study demonstrates that classification method influences customer perception and attitude. It offers interesting insights on a product classification method as a strategic tool for online shopping.

  • As online shopping malls continue to grow in popularity, various chances of consumption are provided to customers. Customers decide the purchase by exploiting information provided by shopping malls such as the reviews of actual purchasing users, the detailed information of items, and so on. It is required to provide objective and reliable information because customers have to decide on their own whether the massive information is credible. In this paper, we propose a personalized recommendation method considering an item confidence to recommend reliable items. The proposed method determines user preferences based on various behaviors for personalized recommendation. We also propose an user preference measurement that considers time weights to apply the latest propensity to consume. Finally, we predict the preference score of items that have not been used or purchased before, and we recommend items that have highest scores in terms of both the predicted preference score and the item confidence score.
