An Adaptive Signal Transmission/Reception Scheme for Spectral Efficiency Improvement of Multiple Antenna Systems in Cellular Environments (셀룰러 환경에서 다중 안테나 시스템의 전송 효율 증대를 위한 적응적 송수신 방안)

  • Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques can be used for the spectral efficiency enhancement of the cellular systems, which can be categorized into spatial multiplexing (SM) and spatial diversity schemes. MIMO systems suffer a severe performance degradation due to the intercell interference from the adjacent cells as the mobile terminal moves toward the cell boundary. Therefore for the spectral efficiency enhancement, an appropriate transmission scheme for the given channel environment and reception scheme which can mitigate the intercell interference are required. In this paper, we propose an adaptive signal transmission/reception scheme for the spectral efficiency improvement of $M_R{\times}M_T$ MIMO systems, present the decision criteria for the adaptive operation of the proposed scheme, and demonstrate the performance gain. The proposed scheme performs adaptive transmission using spatial multiplexing and spatial diversity, and adaptive reception using maximal ratio combining (MRC) and intercell spatial demultiplexing (ISD) when the spatial diversity transmission is used at the transmitter. Spatial multiplexing/demultiplexing is performed at the high signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) range, and the transmit diversity in conjunction with the adaptive reception uses either conventional MRC or ISD which can mitigate the $M_R-1$ interference signals, based on the mobile location. For the performance evaluation of the proposed adaptive scheme, the probability density function (pdf) of the effective SIR for the transmission/reception methods in consideration are derived for $M_R{\times}M_T$ MIMO systems. Using the results, the average effective SIR and spectral efficiency are presented and compared with simulation results.

  • In this paper, we study the secrecy outage probability when using cooperative diversity and jammer in a relay system based on decode-and-forward. MRC method is used in receiver and eavesdroppers to obtain cooperative diversity. To use the MRC technique, direct links between the sender and receiver, and between the sender and the eavesdropper are used, respectively. Jammers are used to generate intentional noise siganls to increase security capacity. Jammers generate intentional noise, degrading the channel quality of the eavesdropper and helping physical layer security be realized. The secrecy outage probability is used to evaluate security performance. Assume that the system is under the Rayleigh fading channel.

  • 본 논문에서는 부채널 상관 특성을 이용하여 상관도가 가장 낮은 두 개의 부채널로 정보를 전송함으로써 OFDM 시스템에서 주파수 다이버시티 이득을 얻는 방안을 제안하였다. 제안된 기법은 간단한 심볼 부호화 과정을 통해 상관도가 가장 낮은 두 부채널로 특정한 위상차를 갖는 심볼을 전송하며, 수신단에서는 두 부채널을 통해 수신된 심볼의 위상차를 검출, 조합함으로써 주파수 다이버시티 이득을 얻을 수 있다. 제안된 기법은 부호화 및 복호화 과정이 간단하기 때문에 시스템의 복잡도와 성능면에서 우수하며, 또한 기존의 다중 안테나 신호처리 기술과 결합시킴으로써 송신 및 수신 다이버시티 기법의 성능을 개선할 수 있다. 제안된 기법의 검증을 위해 채널 변화가 느린 레일리 페이딩 환경 하에서 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해 기존의 OFDM 및 2개의 수신 안테나를 가지는 OFDM 시스템과 성능을 비교, 분석하였다.

Performance Evaluation and Theoretical Model for the Polarization Diversity using Circularly Polarized Waves in N-LOS Radio Environments (비가시거리 전파환경에서 원형편파를 이용한 편파다이버시티의 이론적 모델 및 성능평가)

  • In this paper, we analyzed a two-branch polarization diversity at a mobile station in NLOS environment when a base station transmits a circularly polarized wave. In order to calculate the correlation coefficient considering the XPD(cross polarization discrimination) between the received signals for the two diversity branches, a simple theoretical model of circular polarization diversity is adopted. From the analysis results, it can be seen that the XPD of circularly polarized wave is less than vertically polarized wave about 6~7 dB in measurement results. And also, it is clearly seen that the correlation coefficient of circular polarization diversity evaluated by the XPD is less than that of vertical polarization diversity.

  • 전송다이버시티 는 일반적으로 송신기에서 하나이상의 안테나를 필요로 한다. 그러나 많은 무선기기들은 크기나 하드웨어의 복잡도로 인해 다수의 안테나를 사용하는데 많은 제약을 가지고 있었다. 최근 들어 해외에서 활발히 연구되고 있는 협력통신이라는 전송방식은 단일 안테나를 사용하는 다수의 사용자가 있는 환경에서, 사용자간의 안테나를 공유하여 가상의 다중 안테나를 가진 송, 수신기의 성능을 제공하여 높은 전송 다이버시티를 획득 할 수 있는 기술이다. 이와 관련된 연구로 저전력 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 순환부호를 이용한 부호화 협력통신을 소개한다.

  • This paper presents channel measurements for wireless body area network(WBAN) and provides performance evaluation from the measurement. We measured the radio propagation in 2.45 GHz ISM band in an anechoic chamber according to various human movements and the position of transmit antennas. Two transmit antennas are mounted on different positions of human body for the purpose of comparing the diversity gain and correlation between the channels in $2{\times}1$ multiple-input single-output(MISO) systems. The experimental results show that the outage capacity is closely related with the correlation coefficient between channels in transmit diversity system.

An Efficient STBC Scheme for a Cooperative Satellite-Terrestrial System (위성과 지상 중계 장치와의 협동 다이버시티를 위한 효율적인 STBC 방식)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient space-time block coding (STBC) scheme in a cooperative satellite-terrestrial system. The proposed STBC scheme has code rate 1 for a 3 transmit antenna scheme. Because the channel matrix of the proposed scheme is orthogonal, we can use a simple linear decoding algorithm and also can expect improved performance over the conventional scheme. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has improved performance for bit error rates (BER) than several conventional STBC schemes. In addition, we investigate performance simulation results by power imbalance between the terrestrial repeaters and satellite.

  • 본 논문은 3D-HDTV 지상파 방송을 위한 분산송신 기반 단일 주파수 방송망 내 송신안테나 위치에 따른 송신신호 전력분포를 분석하였다. 분산송신 기반 단일 주파수 방송망 구조는 하나의 주 송신안테나와 3개의 부 송신 안테나로 구성되어 있어 수신기가 방송망 내 어느 위치에 있더라도 최소 2개 이상의 송신신호를 수신할 수 있다. 이러한 방송망 구조는 송신 안테나들이 지역적으로 배치되어 있기 때문에 공간 다이버시티를 획득 할 수 있다. 그러나 거리에 따른 송신신호 전력 감쇠 때문에 방송망 내 수신기 위치에 따라 수신 SNR이 변화하게 된다. 시스템 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 단일 주파수 방송망 내 송신전력 분포 분석을 통하여 안정적인 데이터 수신율을 보장하기 위해 적용 가능한 데이터 송신기법에 대해 고찰하였다.

Performance Analysis of Quasi-Orthogonal Space-Time Block Coded OFDM Systems (준직교 시공간 블록 부호화된 OFDM 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • As a technique for high-quality multimedia service in down-link, the transmit diversity schemes using a orthogonal space-time block codes were proposed. But if the number of transmit antenna is three or more, it was impossible to obtain full diversity gain because of the decline of spectral efficiency. Accordingly, the quasi-orthogonal space-time block code that not required a additional bandwidth was proposed. But using a space-time block codes, the transmit diversity schemes were verified over quasi-static and frequency non-selective channels. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the performance of OFDM systems, which a frequency selective channel equalized a frequency non-selective channel, adapting the quasi-orthogonal space-time block code, and compare they to the conventional orthogonal space-time block coded OFDM systems.

  • In this paper a new space-time diversity relaying strategy using cooperative communication technique is proposed. More than one relaying terminals are included in one cooperative group to share their state information, such as frame error rate and channel state information. The best terminals are selected to send bit information using space-time diversity relay system. An implementation for the proposed scheme is also presented using the TDMA cooperative protocol. The resulting receive signal to transmit signal ratio and computer simulation demonstrate that the proposed strategy outperforms the conventional cooperative system.
