A Study on Response Improvement of a Proportional Solenoid Actuator (비례제어 솔레노이드 액추에이터의 응답성 향상 연구)

  • This paper presents a control method for the performance improvement of a proportional solenoid actuator using a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal. It is very difficult to obtain excellent response performance from a proportional solenoid actuator using a simple proportional controller with no PWM signal or dither because the mass and structure of a proportional solenoid actuator changes according to the application target, friction force in the proportional solenoid tube, operating force and displacement range. To solve the above problems, first, a controller with a PWM function for experimenting with attraction force characteristics was designed and manufactured. Secondly, an experimental setup for solenoid performance measurement with a force sensor and a displacement sensor was also manufactured. The attraction force characteristics according to the frequency and duty ratio variations of a PWM signal were tested and the relationships among the frequency, duty ratio, plunger mass and friction characteristics were analyzed. Finally, response characteristics improvements for proportional solenoid actuators are discussed.

Pressure Control of Lockup Solenoid Valve for Automatic Transmission (자동변속기 록업솔레노이드밸브의 압력제어)

  • The lockup clutch is embeded on torque converter of automatic transmission to prevent the efficiency deterioration of torque converter in high speed. For improving fuel consumption rate, it is desirable to engage the lockup clutch earlier. But, it results in degrading shift quality, due to the transient torque. The transient clutch pressure which affects the shifting quality, should be controlled properly. In this study, to solve the problem, it is analysed the hydraulic circuit of lockup system including line pressure regulating circuit, established the nonlinear model, and designed the PID controller. The line pressure is supplied to the lockup clutch through the lockup control valve by switching the lockup solenoid valve on. In order to control the transient pressure actively, it is needed to control the lockup solenoid valve by closed loop control. The lockup solenoid valve is 2-way on-off valve, and is adequate for PWM control. To reduce the pressure chattering, the carrier frequency is increased. Target pressure profile is computed from optimized velocity difference profile throuth dynamic equation of vehicle system.

  • The proportional control solenoid valves as well as the PWM solenoid valves operated by electric signal play an important role in the hydraulic system for automatic transmissions to improve the shift quality. However it is not generally available for the performance data because most of the automotive parts manufacturer don't release the specific test results, especially dynamic performance that is essential to design a shift control algorithm. In this research, a performance test equipment that can be applied to various types of pressure control solenoid valve was developed. It was implemented by 8-bit micro-controller with many useful functions such as adjustable PWM carrier frequency, embedded function generator, current controller, data monitoring and acquisitions, etc. for the test of dynamic performance of solenoid valve as well as the steady-state pressure characteristics. The performance test results for the direct type proportional control solenoid valve show not only the validity of overall functions but also its usefulness as a hydraulic valve tester.

  • 최근 산업현장에서 작업능률의 향상, 인건비의 절감을 목적으로 공장자동화가 급속히 추진됨에 따라 자동화 설비의 핵심기기인 공압벨브의 수요가 급격히 증가하고 있다. 공압밸브는 전기적신호로 솔레노이드를 작동하여 공기의 흐름을 제어하는 것으로 기계와 전기가 결합된 Mechatronics화된 제품이다. 본 연구에서는 공압벨브류의 성능측정 분야 에 있어서 세계 각종규격(ISO, JIS, CETOP) 에 명기된 시험항목들을 자동으로 측정할 수 있는 종합성능 시험시스템을 개발하였고, 시스템의 작동은 한명의 작업자가 측정항목의 모든 시험을 제어할 수 있도록 완전자동화 하였다.

  • For the practical use of a fuel injection system using solenoid, some mechanical and electrical problems should be explicitly analyzed. In our study, we have investigated these problems experimentally and have improved such that a solenoid driving circuit is liable to establish a fast reponse and a precise control of injection quantity. This proposed fuel injecton system is capable to control equivalence ratio from low level to high level. Therefore, we expect that this proposed system should be applicable to an actual engine.

  • Carboxy-guns are used for rapid and precise injection of $CO_2$ gas to the target skin area using external power source. In the design of carboxy-gun, the most important thing is how to precisely control injection volume of $CO_2$ gas. This paper deals with the control scheme of injection volume of carboxy-gun using solenoid valve. First the amount of volume that passes through the solenoid valve under on-off time ratio control is estimated based on the assumption of compressible gas flow. The flow rate of gas is experimentally measured under the varying pressure of the gas reservoir. Two results showed good correlation to each other, thus demonstrating the validity of the volume control strategy.

  • To reduce the shock in shifting, the clutches and the brakes in automatic transmission have to be connected smoothly and disconnected rapidly. It is PCSV(Pressure Control Solenoid Valve) that paly this role of automatic transmission. In this paper, there were two steps in the analysis of the PCSV. The first step was modeling the elctromagnet by the permeance method. The second step was modeling the hydraulic circuit by the pressure differential equa- tion. In addition to this modeling, a experiment was performed and the commercial package program was used in order to justify modeling. The result of modeling coincide with the result of experiment and commercial package program. As a result, this modeling is usable in analysis of dynamic characteristics of the PCSV.

  • The design of the main control valve, which is the main component of the flap control system, was based on actual manufacturing experience on the basis of trial and error method. In this paper, a model-based part design method is proosed. The flap control system consists of a main control valve, fail-safe valve, solenoid valve, LVDT and force motor. The main control valve consists mainly of a spool and slot. The important design parameters of the main control valve are the slot width, overlap and clearance. AMESim is linked to the model and it analyzes the flow path of the main control valve. Applying the proposed design procedure, it was confirmed that the required performance was satisfied within the allowable machining error range.

  • LPG 및 석유류는 온도에 따라서 유량의 변화가 LPG의 경우는 ±0.23%/℃, 무연은 ±0.11%/℃, 등유는 ±0.10%/℃, 경유의 경우는 ±0.09%/℃로 특히 LPG의 경우가 그 변화가 심하므로 정확한 충전량을 계량하는 것이 중요하다. 이는 공정거래 확립의 차원에서 공급자와 소비자 입장에서 반드시 요구되는 사항이다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 LPG 충전기의 충전제어 및 자동 온도 보정의 알고리즘을 개발하고 이를 프로그래밍한 후 온도센서와 16-bit 마이크로프로세서(intel 80C196)로 자동 온도 보정이 가능한 LPG 충전기의 충전제어 시스템을 설계 및 제작하였다. 설계 제작된 시스템은 프로세서부, I/O 입ㆍ출력부, VFD(vacuum fluorescent display) 디스플레이 구동부로 구성된다. 충전제어 동작은 LPG 유량계의 encoder로부터의 유량(유속)신호와 기차 보정값 및 15℃를 기준으로 한 온도 센서부의 온도 보정값을 입력받아 솔레노이드 밸브를 제어하여 충전을 제어하게 된다. 온도 보정은 80C196 프로세서의 내부 10-bit A/D 변환기를 사용하여 0.5℃ 분해능으로 온도제어를 할 수 있다. VFD 디스플레이는 유량, 금액, 단가가 표시되며 그 값을 누적시켜 일계, 월계를 알 수 있게 하였다. 그 외에 시스템 진단기능 및 컴퓨터통신, POS 통신이 가능하도록 하였다. 제작된 시스템을 LPG 충전기에 실장하여 시험한 결과 목표한 정확도로 유량이 제어됨을 알 수 있었다.

유압 위치제어 시스템의 단속적 제어방법에 관한 연구 I

  • Two kinds of discontinuous control methods i, e., simple on-off(SOF) control and pulsating on-off(POF) control methods are implemented and compared each other for a low cast hydraulic position-control system which utilizes a solenoid-operated directional valve instead of a servovalve. Experimental work was carried out to investigate effects of control parameters and loading conditions on step response characteristics of the system for each control method. The results show that much higher accuracy and much better transient response characteristics can be achieved by POF controller than those by SOF controller. The results may be used as basic data in the selection of control parameters as well as in the design of the hydraulic position-control system.
