Kinetics of Catalytic Oxidation of Vinyl Chloride over CrOx/γ-alumina (CrOx/γ-alumina 촉매상에서 Vinyl Chloride의 산화반응 속도해석)

  • The complete catalytic oxidation of vinyl chloride was investigated over chromium oxide supported ${\gamma}$-alumina using a fixed bed micro-reactor at temperature between 240 and $300^{\circ}C$ and concentration between 600 and 3500 ppm. The oxidation of vinyl chloride was nonlinear in the concentration of vinyl chloride and zeroth order in the concentration of oxygen. The addition of HCl and $H_2O$ as products to the feed stream didn't influence the conversion of vinyl chloride. Several kinetic rate model were tested to describe the data over the range of condition investigated, and developed a model which provide the best correlation of experimental data. The resulting model of kinetic rate was derived by assuming that the reacting occurred via adsorption and subsequent decomposition of the vinyl chloride onto the oxygen covered chromium oxide surface, with the reaction being inhibited by the adsorption of vinyl chloride. The percent standard deviation between the predicted and experimental was about 5.2%, and the activation energy was 18.9 kcal/mol.

Robust Threshold Determination on Various Lighting for Marker-based Indoor Navigation (마커 방식 실내 내비게이션을 위한 조명 변화에 강한 임계값 결정 방법)

  • In this paper, a method of determining the optimal threshold in image binarization for the marker recognition is suggested to resolve the problem that the performances of marker recognition are quite different according to the changes of indoor lighting. The suggested method determines the optimal threshold by considering the average brightness, the standard deviation and the maximum deviation of video image under the various indoor lighting circumstances, such as bright light, dim light, and shadow by unspecified obstacles. In particular, the recognition under the gradation lighting by shadow is improved by applying the weighted value that depends on the brightness of image. The suggested method is experimented to process $720{\times}480$ resolution video images under the various lighting environments, and it shows the fast and high performance, which is suitable for mobile indoor navigation.

Effect of the Physical Parameters and Alkalinity in the Ammonia Stripping (반응조의 물리적 인자와 알칼리도가 암모니아 탈기에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The effect of the physical parameters in the reactor (aeration depth, bubble size, and surface area) and the alkalinity of the solution on the ammonia stripping by bubbling were evaluated. When an airflow of 30 L/min was bubbled below the solution surface in the range 6-53 cm, the ammonia removal rate were observed to be the same regardless of the bubbling depths. At pH 10.0 and a temperature of $30^{\circ}C$, the average rate constant and the standard deviation were $0.178h^{-1}$ and 0.004. No appreciable changes in the ammonia removal rate were also observed with varying the bubble size and the air-contacting surface area. Alkalinity of the solution was found to affect the ammonia removal rate indirectly. This is expected because the pH of the solution would vary with dissolution of gaseous $CO_2$ by air bubbling. The real wastewaters from landfill site and domestic wastewater treatment plant were tested. In the case of domestic wastewater (pH = 7.1, alkalinity = 75 mg/L), the ammonia removal rate was poor even with the control of pH to 9.3. The raw landfill leachate (pH = 8.0, alkalinity = 6,525 mg/L), however, showed the appreciable removal rate with increasing pH during aeration. When the initial pH of the leachate was adjusted 9.4, the removal rate was significantly increased without changing the pH during aeration.

Analysis of Rainfall Effect on the GIUH Characteristic Velocity (GIUH 특성속도에 대한 강우의 영향 분석)

  • This study analyzed several storm events observed in the Seolma-chun basin to derive the characteristic velocity of GIUH (Geomophological Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph) as well as its variability. Especially, this study focused on the variation of characteristic velocity due to the change of rainfall characteristics. The IUH of the Seolma-chun basin was derived using the HEC-1, whose peak discharge and time were then compared with those of the GIUH to derive the characteristic velocities. The characteristics velocities were analyzed by comparing with the GcIUH (Geomorphoclimatic IUH) as well as the characteristics of rainfall. Results are summarized as follows. (1) The characteristic velocity of GIUH was estimated higher with higher variability than the GcIUH, but their trends were found similar (2) Total amount of effective rainfall (or, mean effective rainfall) well explains the characteristic velocity of GIUH. This could be assured by the regression analysis, whose coefficient of determination was estimated about 0.6. (3) The duration and the maximum intensity of rainfall were found not to affect significantly on the characteristic velocity of GIUH. The coefficients of determination were estimated less than 0.3 for all cases considered. (4) For the rainfall events used in this study, the characteristic velocities of GIUH were found to follow the Gaussian distribution with its mean and the standard deviation 0.402 m/s and 0.173 m/s, respectively. Most of the values are within the range of 0.4∼0.5 m/s, and its coefficient of variation was estimated to be 0.43, much less than that of the runoff itself (about 1.0).

  • Purpose: Greenhouse gases are one of the major causes of global warming, a global disaster. In this study, the priority that affects when calculating the GHG emissions in the road sector is accurately calculated based on the speed of individual vehicles from the existing section average speed. I have the purpose of finding a possible factor. Method: A comparative analysis is conducted between the conventional method of the general passage section, the rest area section, the entrance section, and the confluence section of the highway and the speed-based emission calculation method of individual vehicles. Result: As a result of analyzing a total of 6 sections of the Gyeongbu Expressway, it was found that the standard deviation of the speed and the congestion of the sections had a great influence. Conclusion: When comparing the existing GHG emission calculation method with the speed-based emission calculation method of individual vehicles, it is clear that the speed-based method of individual vehicles is more precise. However, since it is difficult to apply it all over the country, this study compares the existing method with the speed-based method of individual vehicles and presents factors that have a significant difference.

A Comparison of the Trainees' Evacuation Characteristics according to the Indoor Smoke-fullfill during the Safety Training on Ship (선상안전교육 시 선내 연기충진 여부에 따른 실습생의 피난이동특성 비교)

  • To make students recognize the danger of fire smoke that may occur in ships and to improve the response capability, spaces for safety educ ation were built inside the training ship, and scenarios were developed. This study is an analysis of the movement characteristics of the students acquire d under each scenario. Followings are the summary of the analysis results. In the non-smoke environments, there was no difference in the velocity of escape movement between the case of without block on the familiar route and the case of with unexpected block. However, when the indoor was filled with smoke, the visibility became very low because of the smoke density and the average velocity was 62.5 % slower than the case where it was not. Regardless of the scenarios, the average equivalent velocity on the complex path was faster than the simple straight path, and the standard deviation was smaller. Under the smoke-fullfilled environment, although the relative velocity probability distributions of the complex passage and the entire passag e are very similar, the inter-individual fluctuation of the relative velocity ratio of the complex passage to that of the entire passage was very large. On the other hand, equivalent velocity could be expressed by the logarithmic function of the visibility. Also, as the tension of the students increased, the equivalent velocities were accelerated on all scenarios.

A Study on the Minimum Number of Rebound Number Test and Pulse Velocity Method for Estimating Compressive Strength of Concrete (콘크리트 압축강도 추정을 위한 반발도법과 초음파속도법의 최소시험횟수에 관한 연구)

  • Among non-destructive tests for compressive strength, rebound number test and pulse velocity test are the most widely used methods. However, the non-destructive tests mostly used in Korea was developed by foreign country. Therefore, it is unreasonable to directly apply them to concrete structures in Korea. In accordance with the suggestion of Institute of Architecture in Japan for rebound number test, a compressive strength is calculated by the mean value of 20 hit points without being considered standard deviation. Furthermore, there is no regulation on the number of measurements required for measuring compressive strength by pulse velocity test. This study, therefore, reviewed the rebound number test and pulse velocity test by chi-square, and suggested the minimum number of each test. As a result, the minimum number that falls within range of reliability for rebound number test and pulse velocity test are 11 and 7, respectively. If abnormal values are processed as missing and test groups are assumed to be arrayed in cross by considering changes in quality of actual concrete structures, 20 times and 9 times are appropriate for rebound number test and pulse velocity test, respectively.

  • A divided matched filter-reference filter(MF-RF) technique for LEO satellite packet transmission is proposed to increase the packet throughput in the presence of severe Doppler shift and fading. To overcome the severe Doppler shift, the divided matched filter is adopted where the integration region of matched filter is divided and ouputs of divided matched filer are added to decide the correct pseudo-noise (PN) phase. To maintain the constant false alarm rate in time varying interference and fading channel, the adaptive threshold for acquisition is obtained from the reference filter. As a performance measure, average acquisition time and packet throughput are used, and the effets of the parameters, i.e., Doppler shift, chip energy to noise ratio, user velocity, standard deviation of shadowing, and preamble length are shown.

  • 반응성RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링 법으로 상온에서 c-축으로 우선 배향된 AIN 박막을 여러 기판 위에 증착하였다. SiO$_{2}$/Si, Si$_{3}$N $_{4}$Si, Si(100), Si(111)그리고 $\alpha$-AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$(0001) 기판에서 AIN(0002)로킹커브 피크의 표준편차는 각각 2.6˚, 3.1˚2.6˚, 2.5˚ 그리고 2.1˚ 의 값을 나타내었다. $\alpha$-AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$(0001) 기판에 증착된 AIN박막은 epitaxial 성장을 나타내었다. Si기판에 증착된 AIN박막에서 측정된 비저항과 1MHz 주파수에서 측정된 유전상수의 값은 각각 $10^{11}$Ωcm와 9.5였다. IDT/AIN/$\alpha$-AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$(0001)구저를 갖는 지연선 소자의 표면 탄성과 특성을 측정하였다. 상 속도, 전기기계 결합계수 그리고 전파손실은 H/λ가 0.17-0.5 범위에서 각각 5448-5640m/s, 0.13-0.17% 그리고 0.41-0.64dB/λ의 값을 나타내었다.다.

금속선을 삽입한 고체 추진제의 연소 특성

  • HTPB/AP/Al이 주성분인 2종의 혼합형 추진제를 대상으로 4종의 금속선(Ag, Cu, Al, Ni-Cr)윰 각각 삽입하여 금속선의 직경(0.1~0.8mm)과 연소 압력에 따른 금속선에 인접한 고체 추진제의 연소 속도 증가비($r_w$/$r_sb$)와 압력 지수(n)의 변화를 고찰하였다. 금속선을 추진제에 삽입함으로써 추진제의 $r_w$/$r_sb$ 는 크게 중가하였고, 1000 psia의 압력에서의 최대 6.59배 증가하였다. 그러나 녹는 점이 비교적 낮은 Al 선이나 Ag선은 금속선 직경이 작아짐에 따라 한계 직경에서 $r_w$가 급격히 감소하는 최대값이 존재하였다. 자연 발화 온도와 금속선으로 전달되는 열원인 연소 기체 불꽃 온도로 구성된 무차원군을 Buckingham pi 정리에 의해 구해진 $r_w$/$r_sb$ 에 대한 기존의 무차원 실험식에 추가로 적용하여 계산해 본 결과, 자연 발화 온도는 고려하지 않고 금속선의 녹는 점과 연소 기체의 불꽃 온도를 무시한 Hsing 의 실험식에 의해 계산된 결과보다 표준 편차가 45%이상 줄어듬을 알 수 있었다.
