A 2.4 GHz Bio-Radar System with Small Size and Improved Noise Performance Using Single Circular-Polarized Antenna and PLL (하나의 원형 편파 안테나와 PLL을 이용하여 소형이면서도 개선된 잡음 성능을 갖는 2.4 GHz 바이오 레이더 시스템)

  • In this paper, we design a 2.4 GHz bio-radar system that can detect human heartbeat and respiration signals with small size and improved noise performance using single circular-polarized antenna and phase-locked loop. The demonstrated bio-radar system consists of single circular-polarized antenna with $90^{\circ}$ hybrid, low-noise amplifier, power amplifier, voltage-controlled oscillator with phase-locked loop circuits, quadrature demodulator and analog circuits. To realize compact size, the printed annular ring stacked microstrip antenna is integrated on the transceiver circuits, so its dimension is just $40\times40mm^2$. Also, to improve signal-to-noise-ratio performance by phase noise due to transmitter leakage signal, the phase-locked loop circuit is used. The measured results show that the heart rate and respiration accuracy was found to be very high for the distance of 50 cm without the additional digital signal processing.

  • There are several improved designs of passive radar reflector available, but their performance is ultimately limited by the cross-section area and this is governed by the size of the buoy and the acceptable windage. Therefore it is needed to investigate the low-cost, low power, a active device that can be improve the reliability of response. Active Radar Reflector(AAR) consists of a microwave amplifier with separate receive and transmit antennas. It is a device which automatically transmits a signal in response to an interrogating signal received. It was intended to improve the consistency of the radar return from the buoy and the small craft, particularly in poor sea conditions. And it directly improves safety of navigation at sea.

  • Synthetic Aperture Radar is an active sensor utilizing the microwaves in order to get the requested high resolution imageries day or night regardless of the weather conditions. In this paper, the architecture of a real-time system controller for the airborne small SAR system, KOrea Miniature SAR which was developed by Agency for Defense Development is proposed considering the embedded real-time environment. The main purpose of the system controller is to control the internal and the rest of subsystem within SAR system in real-time. The main characteristics of the proposed system controller were implemented using the real-time operating system and the distributed hardware architecture for the small, low weight and real-time operation. The system controller performance and real-time operation were verified and confirmed by the demo flight with the KT-1 airplane.

  • Millimeter-wave tracking radars should be operated in various environmental restrictions, thus they demand more computing power and smaller size compared to conventional tracking radars. This paper presents the design and implementation of the compact power supply for millimeter-wave tracking radar applications. To meet requirements of low voltage/high current and voltage accuracy for FPGA/DSP digital circuits, Point of Load (POL) converters are used in order to enhance power density and system efficiency. LDO (Low Dropout) is applied for the output voltage under the light load condition, then the single-input-multi-output power supply with max power of 375 W and 8 outputs is developed. The proposed power supply achieves output voltage accuracy of ±2 % and noise level of <50 mVpp % under full load conditions.

  • 극 초단의 임펄스를 사용하여 지중 매설물을 탐색하기 위한 지반탐사 영상 레이더를 개발하였다. 개발된 지반 탐사 레이더는 Gaussian 임펄스, 임펄스 송수신을 위한 초 광대역 소형 모노폴 안테나, 수신 신호 저장을 위한 고속 A/D로 구성된다. 탐지 깊이와 시스템의 크기를 고려하여 임펄스 발생기 및 초광대역 안테나가 설계되었다. 지중 매설물의 영상화를 위해 여러 가지 이미지 기법이 사용되었다. 발표에서는 구현된 시스템의 시제품을 소개하고, 개발된 시제품을 사용하여 가상의 모래 시험장에서 측정된 결과를 보일 것이다.

  • 홍수피해가 빈발하는 도시 및 소규모 산지 유역에서와 같이 지체시간이 짧은 유역에서 국지적으로 발생하는 돌발홍수는 우량계와 기존 하천유역 예보시스템만으론 예보가 불가능하다. 동일한 강우에서도 지역에 따라 침수시간이나 침수심이 달라지기 때문에 정확한 돌발홍수예보를 위해서는 지역에 따른 침수특성과 유속특성을 달리 고려해야 한다. '골든타임 확보를 위한 유역 시공간 상세 홍수예보기술 개발(환경부)'에서 개발한 '국지 돌발홍수예측 시스템'은 지역별 검증된 침수특성과 유속특성의 관계식을 산정하여 돌발홍수예보 기준을 설정하였다. 그리고 도달시간이 짧은 도시 및 산지에서 홍수예보 선행시간을 확보하기 위해 강우레이더 기반 돌발홍수 예측 시스템을 구축하여 시범 운영 중이다. 그러나 도시·산지 중소하천유역 등 홍수예보 취약지역에 대한 돌발홍수예보 정확도를 제고하기 위해서는 기 설정된 돌발홍수위험 예보 기준을 정밀하게 평가·검증·개선 할 수 있는 실증 체계가 반드시 필요하다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구에서는 2021년부터 3개년 동안 홍수예보 취약지역에 강우레이더와 경제적 IoT 관측센서 정보를 기반으로 돌발홍수예보 실증기술을 개발하여 전국 돌발홍수예보 실용화 기반 구축하고자 한다. 홍수피해 취약지역인 도심지, 산지·계곡, 해안지역에 실증 테스트베드를 선정하고 강우레이더-IoT 실증 관측망을 구축하여 돌발홍수예보 기술 실증과 돌발홍수 위험기준 설정 가이드라인을 마련하고자 한다. 더불어 도시 중소하천유역 홍수예보 활용을 위한 소형강우레이더 강우량 정확도 개선 기술 개발과 홍수기 강우레이더 기반 홍수예보 관-연 협업 시범 운영을 추진할 계획이며, 최종적으로는 강우레이더와 IoT 정보 기반 돌발홍수 실증 시스템을 구축 운영하고자 한다.

A NARX Dynamic Neural Network Platform for Small-Sat PDM (동적신경망 NARX 기반의 SAR 전력모듈 안전성 연구)

  • In the design and development process of Small-Sat power distribution and transmission module, the stability of dynamic resources was evaluated by a deep learning algorithm. The requirements for the stability evaluation consisted of the power distribution function of the power distribution module and demand module to the SAR radar in Small-Sat. To verify the performance of the switching power components constituting the power module PDM, the reliability was verified using a dynamic neural network. The adoption material of deep learning for reliability verification is the power distribution function of the payload to the power supplied from the small satellite main body. Modeling targets for verifying the performance of this function are output voltage (slew rate control), voltage error, and load power characteristics. First, to this end, the Coefficient Structure area was defined by modeling, and PCB modules were fabricated to compare stability and reliability. Second, Levenberg-Marquare based Two-Way NARX neural network Sigmoid Transfer was used as a deep learning algorithm.

Bright band detection using X-band polarimetric radar (X-밴드 이중편파 레이더에 의한 밝은 띠 탐지)

  • This research detects the features of the bright band (BB) through analysis of the vertical profile of range height indicator (RHI) and the slant range beam profile of plane position indicator (PPI) of the polarimetric radar measurements-horizontal reflectivity (ZH), differential reflectivity (ZDR), and cross-correlation coefficient (ρHV). As a result of the analysis, it is possible to clearly detect the bright band using the polarimetric radar measurements, and it is confirmed that the result is consistent by double searching for the BB using the RHI and PPI scan data at the same time. Based on these results, the accuracy of QPE (quantification of precipitation estimation) can be improved by applying the BB search method by the PPI slant range in this research to large rainfall radars that only scan PPI volumes in the field without RHI observations.

A Study on the Lights and Shapes for the Small Fishing Vessel and the Vessels Towing and Being Towed (소형어선 및 예인선단의 등화 및 형상물에 관한 고찰)

  • This study aims at reviewing first the cases of marine accidents of small fishing vessels and vessels towing and being towed and, the problems concerning such lights and shapes that could be misunderstood for those in concerned Rules, or that could impair their distinctive characteristics or obstruct to keep a proper look-out. And then I wish to make a suggestion of the necessity of amending the National Laws which stipulate the rules for the ship's lights and shapes as follows; Firstly, by amending the "Standard of Construction and Equipment for the Less Than 10 Gross Tonnage of Small Fishing Vessels" small fishing vessel must be equipped with the lights and shapes that are the same as those of "vessel engaged in fishing" prescribed by Rule 26 of the "COLREG 1972" and Rule 84 of the "Maritime Safety Law Act". Secondly, "Standard of Fishing Vessels Equipment" which stipulate the rules concerning the exception of the running lights and radar reflector for the small fishing vessels must be amended to meet the requirement of Rule 20 of the "Maritime Safety Act". Thirdly, the definition of "Length of the tow" which prescribed by Rule 2 of the "Maritime Safety Act" must be amended to meet the Rule 24 of the "COLREG 1972". And also I wish to adhere to the importance of displaying the adequate vessel lights and shapes by every mariner for preventing marine accidents.

Design and Implementation of X-Band Oscillator Using Compact Hairpin Resonator (소형화된 헤어핀 공진기를 이용한 X-대역 발진기의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, oscillator with compact hairpin resonator is used to design the local oscillator of X-band radar system. The proposed hairpin resonator is minimized by increasing capacitance of line end of conventional one. By this method, size can be minimized about 40% compared with the conventional resonator and also can improve phase noise characteristic. The result of oscillator using proposed hairpin resonator is measured in oscillating frequency of 9.05 GHz, output power of 2.47 dBm, and phase noise of -101.4 dBc/Hz. The fabricated oscillator in this paper can minimize design and it's planar structure makes it easy to design MMIC.
