  • Early researches in human action recognition have focused on tracking and classifying articulated body motions. Such methods required accurate segmentation of body parts, which is a sticky task, particularly under realistic imaging conditions. Recent trends of work have become popular towards the use of more and low-level appearance features such as spatio-temporal interest points. Given the great progress in pose estimation over the past few years, redefined views about pose-based approach are needed. This paper addresses the issues of whether it is sufficient to train a classifier only on low-level appearance features in appearance approach and proposes effective pose-based approach with pose estimation for emotional action recognition. In order for these questions to be solved, we compare the performance of pose-based, appearance-based and its combination-based features respectively with respect to scenario of various emotional action recognition. The experiment results show that pose-based features outperform low-level appearance-based approach of features, even when heavily spoiled by noise, suggesting that pose-based approach with pose estimation is beneficial for the emotional action recognition.

  • This research aims to develop the companion robot experience design for elderly in korea based on needs-function deploy matrix of robot and emotion expression research of robot in multimodal interaction. First, Elder users' main needs were categorized into 4 groups based on ethnographic research. Second, the functional elements and physical actuators of robot were mapped to user needs in function- needs deploy matrix. The final UX design prototype was implemented with a robot type that has a verbal non-touch multi modal interface with emotional facial expression based on Ekman's Facial Action Coding System (FACS). The proposed robot prototype was validated through a user test session to analyze the influence of the robot interaction on the cognition and emotion of users by Story Recall Test and face emotion analysis software; Emotion API when the robot changes facial expression corresponds to the emotion of the delivered information by the robot and when the robot initiated interaction cycle voluntarily. The group with emotional robot showed a relatively high recall rate in the delayed recall test and In the facial expression analysis, the facial expression and the interaction initiation of the robot affected on emotion and preference of the elderly participants.

  • There are continuous and tremendous attempts to apply various sensor systems and ICTs into the dairy science for data accumulation and improvement of dairy productivity. However, these only concerns the fields which directly affect to the dairy productivity such as the number of individuals and the milk production amount, while researches on the physiology aspects of dairy cows are not enough which are fundamentally involved in the dairy productivity. This paper proposes the basic approach for extraction of daily behavior pattern from hourly behavioral data of dairy cows to identify the health status and stress. Total four clusters were grouped by k-means clustering and the reasonability was proved by visualization of the data in each groups and the representatives of each groups. We hope that provided results should lead to the further researches on catching abnormalities and disease signs of dairy cows.

  • Mastitis in cows is a major factor that hinders dairy productivity of farms, and many attempts have been made to solve it. However, research on mastitis has been limited to diagnosis rather than prediction, and even this is mostly using a single sensor. In this study, a predictive model was developed using multivariate data including biometric data and environmental data. The data used for the analysis were collected from robot milking machines and sensors installed in farmhouses in Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. The recurrent neural network model using three weeks of data predicts whether or not mastitis is diagnosed the next day. As a result, mastitis was predicted with an accuracy of 82.9%. The superiority of the model was confirmed by comparing the performance of various data collection periods and various models.

  • Livestock behavioral analysis is a factor that has a great influence on livestock health management and agricultural productivity increase. However, most digital devices introduced for behavioral analysis of livestock do not provide raw data and also provide limited analysis results. Such a closed system makes it more difficult to integrate data and build big data, which are essential for the introduction of advanced IT technologies. Therefore, it is necessary to supply farm-scale data collection devices that can be easily used at low cost. This study presents a data collection system for analyzing the behavior of livestock. The system consists of a number of miniature computing units that operate wirelessly, and collects livestock body temperature and acceleration data, location information, and livestock environment data. In addition, this study presents an algorithm for estimating the behavior of livestock based on the collected acceleration data. For the experiment, a system was built in a Korean cattle farm in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, and data were collected for 20 Korean cattle, and based on this, the empirical and analysis results were presented.

  • Microsoft's Windows system is widely used as an operating system for the desktops and enterprise servers of companies or organizations, and is a major target of cyber attacks. Microsoft provides various protection technologies and strives for defending the attacks through periodic security patches, however the threats such as DLL injection and process injection still exist. In this paper, we analyze 12 types of injection techniques in Microsoft Windows, and perform injection attack experiments on four application programs. Through the results of the experiments, we identify the risk of injection techniques, and verify the effectiveness of the mitigation technology for defending injection attacks provided by Microsoft. As a result of the experiments, we have found that the current applications are vulnerable to several injection techniques. Finally, we have presented the mitigation techniques for these injection attacks and analyzed their effectiveness.

  • Microservices are not only developed independently, but can also be run and deployed independently, ensuring more flexible scaling and efficient collaboration in a cloud computing environment. This impact has led to a surge in migrating to microservices-oriented application environments in recent years. In order to introduce microservices, the problem of identifying microservice units in a single application built with a single architecture must first be solved. In this paper, we propose an algorithm-based approach to identify microservices from legacy systems. A graph is generated using the meta-information of the legacy code, and a microservice candidate is extracted by applying a clustering algorithm. Modularization quality is evaluated using metrics for the extracted microservice candidates. In addition, in order to validate the proposed method, candidate services are derived using codes of open software that are widely used for benchmarking, and the level of modularity is evaluated using metrics. It can be identified as a smaller unit of microservice, and as a result, the module quality has improved.

  • Animation production is collaborated by many experts and gives many ideas for new and interesting video production. Interesting video production is a problem directly related to the success of the project, so it can be said that it is better to create an environment that is not burdened with technical aspects in expressing ideas. In the actual keyframe animation production environment, ideas are frequently modified to obtain better results, and techniques that are re-used so that the animation key pose data developed at the early stage of the possible stage can be rewritten without abandoning it, and functions that can temporarily change the center of gravity contribute to the productivity of animation work and greatly help the creator to improve the creative atmosphere. This study analyzes action animations implemented in computer animation software to examine the factors that hinder actual productivity, and derives the technical concepts that can contribute to the improvement of animation production productivity and the necessity of developing related tools.

  • Lasers for optical broadband communication systems should have excellent frequency selectivity and modal stability. DFB(Distributed Feedback) lasers have low lasing frequency shift during high speed current modulation. In this paper, I have developed a simulation software and analysed threshold gain and lasing frequency of a lasing mode in longitudinal direction of an 1.55um DFB laser with two mirrors and without anti-reflection coatings, that have both an index- and gain-gratings. The grating phase on a left mirror face is fixed as π/2 and the grating phase on a right mirror face is varied. As the phases of the index and gain gratings on the right mirror facet are π and 0, κL should be in the range of 2~6 in order to enhance the frequency stability. In order to reduce the threshold current of a lasing mode, κL should be greater than 8, regardless of the grating phases on the mirror faces.
