  • Exhaust facility has basically the role of flame deflector, and considering additional functions, it can be classified by noise/emission suppressor and altitude simulation facility. In this paper, principles of flame deflector, jet pump, emission suppression are presented for exhaust treatment facility. Principles of noise suppression caused by Mach wave mitigation, jet energy mitigation by water evaporation and condensation are shown. In addition, a concept of vertical exhaust treatment facility is presented applying basic principles aforementioned.

  • Tilting bogie system allow the train to pass curve at higher speed without affecting passenger comfort. As the tilting trains offer the optimum means of providing faster and more comfortable rail service with minimum of environmental disturbance and capital investment, mere than 14 countries have now adopted or are about to adopt tilting train technology. The Korean National Railroad is also planing to apply faster tilting train to the areas where the High speed rail service are not provided. This paper describes the parametric study to achieve the optimal suspension parameters of the Bogie for 180 km/h Korean Tilting Train(TTX) from the view point of the vertical and lateral vibration reduction.

  • Reduction of a ship's rolling is the most important performance requirement for improving the safety of the crew on board and preventing damage to cargos as well as improving the comfort of the ride. A mass driving anti-rolling system (MD-ARS) might be one candidate of several systems against the ship's rolling. In this paper, a sea-trial test on a pendulum-type MD-ARS passively operated is carried out in Suyoung, Busan. After the system is installed on the cabin of the small leisure boat, a series of test is conducted before and after operating the system. Through the test, it is confirmed that the roll rate of the ship is pretty well reduced by the system.

  • Reduction of a ship's rolling is the most important performance requirement for improving the safety of the crew on board and preventing damage to cargos as well as improving the comfort of the ride. A mass driving anti-.oiling system (MD-ARS) might be one candidate of several systems against the ship's rolling. As the movable range of the mass on the ship is finite, the control system must include restriction on the mass position to protect the device and the ship. This restriction usually causes windup phenomenon and control performance is deteriorated seriously. We adopt anti-windup technique to improve the control performance and demonstrate its efficiency by simulation.

A mass driving anti-rolling system (MD-ARS) might be one candidate of several systems against the ship's rolling. After they are installed on the cabin of the small leisure boat, respectively, a series of test is conducted before and after operating them. • Reduction of the propagation noise generated during pass-by of KTX by noise barrier was measured and analysed fur the two kinds of top-shaped noise reduction devices; one as a plywood board and the other as a PVC pipe were placed periodically. The height and length of reference noise barrier are 2.4 m and 50 m, respectively. The noise reduction with and without noise reduction devices was investigated. (omitted)

  • In this study, for research on an improvement of the seismic safety of an EDG system, a small scale EDG system was manufactured. For the isolation system, the Coil Spring-Viscous Damper systems were selected. For the shaking table test, 3 kinds of seismic motions were selected which had different frequency contents. In this study, the isolation effects were different and they depended on the input seismic motion. In the case of an NRC earthquake which had low fiequency contents, the isolation effects of the horizontal direction were 20%. But for the seismic motions which had high fiequency contents, the isolation effects were $50{\sim}70%$. In the case of the vertical direction, poor isolation effects were observed. It was because the design properties and the real properties of the isolation system were a little different.

  • Transmission of unwanted vibration to sensitive systems can cause various problems including performance degradation and system malfunction. The most common approach to limit the transmission of harmful vibration disturbances to the sensitive system is adapting passive vibration isolator. The classical passive vibration isolator comprising a viscous damper and spring element in parallel, however, exhibits conflicting performance characteristics in that low amplification at the resonance, which is desirable, can only be achieved at the sacrifice of vibration isolation performance in high frequency region, which is undesirable. In this paper, vibration isolation characteristics of various passive isolator schemes in literature to circumvent this conflict are introduced and compared.
