As social work practice for the disabled is still centered in provider's perspective in Korea, this study started with concerns for consumerism that is emerging as an alternative for the social work practice for the disabled. Consumerism is rooted in organization process of the disability rights movement, and considered as an ideology that protects actively the rights and influence of consumers. However, consumerism is not operating as an accomplished ideology yet, but as a type of the practical discourse. Consumerism is interpreted in multiaxial meanings and the conscituents of consumerism is used ambiguously in practice. This is because theoretical reviews on the conceptual thinking of consumerism are scant and empirical inquiries into conceptual cognition of social workers who uses this concept as a professional are scarce. After analyzing the data using Q methodology, the result shows that social workers' major cognitive types on consumerism perspective consists of four types; Empowerment type, Market-mechanism type, Multi-opening type and Traditional-value type. These types are classified by the dimension of 'specific/extended', 'traditional/reformative' and 'instrumental/autotelic'. This result will attribute to develop consumer-intimate policy, practice program and professional training program and to give facilities for lucid communication among policy, practice field, theory and movement in social welfare for disabled as it materializes the explicit conception of consumerism that is understood ambiguously in Korea.

This study was performed to make suggestions for improving consumer welfare in public utility pricing. The consumer related issues in the process of public utility pricing and the consumers' burden on expenditures for public utility were reviewed. Due to the large proportions of the expenditures for public utility to total consumption expenditures, the poor and the younger consumers had more disadvantages in rising consumer price on public utility than the rich and the older. Finally, four kinds of alternatives were suggested to solve the consumer problems in public utility pricing.

Japanese state has continuously tried to adapt itself to the social demands coming from rapidly greying population. Japanese government introduced the new social insurance system of elderly care, i.e. Long term Care Insurance with epoch-making changes in the Japanese welfare system. The most important aspects of the new system can be summarised as follows: 1) social insurance system of obligatory entry with paying premiums and co-payment 2) emphasis on the customer choice, competition, flexibility, free-market, relaxation of the regulation. This characteristics brought unexpected results of the emergence of ethnicity-centred contents of welfare services. As a selling point in freemarket and as a countermeasures against expected ethnic disadvantages, the Korean ethnic organisations brought the ethnic elements resulting in the diversified Japanese welfare services.

동물복지에 대한 소비자의 관심이 커지면서 양계업에도 친환경 축산의 바람이 불고 있다. 매년 친환경 축산 실천 의욕 고취와 지속가능한 축산업 육성을 위한 '유기, 무항생제 축산대상 공모전'이 개최된다. 작년 11월에는 2020년도 축산대상 공모전이 진행되었다. 이에 본지는 뛰어난 동물복지 현장으로 우수상을 수여받은 춘천의 '양지마을 오탄농장'의 김구봉 대표를 찾았다.

2017년 계란 살충제 파동 이후 계란에 대한 소비자의 관심이 급증하고 있다. 안전성과 영양을 바탕으로 한 계란의 브랜드화에 대한 소비자의 수요가 많아졌다. 이에 본지는 무창계사에서 동물복지농장으로 바꾸며 자신만의 브랜드란을 생산하는 이삭농장을 다녀왔다.
