  • In this paper, we propose a method of designing neural networks using biological inspired developmental and evolutionary concept. The living things are best information processing system in themselves. One individual is developed from a generative cell. And a species of this individual have adapted itself to the environment by evolution. Ontogeny of organism is embodied in cellular automata and phylogeny of species is realized by evolutionary algorithms. The connection among cells is determined by a rule of cellular automata. In order to obtain the best neural networks in the environment, we evolve the arrangement of initial cells. The cell, that is neuron of neural networks, is modeled on chaotic neuron with firing or rest state like biological neuron. A final output of network is measured by frequency of firing state. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by applying it to navigation problem of robot.

  • Classifying multi-class pattern plays an important role in grouping of records in database systems, detection of faults in the VLSI circuits and so on. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for the construction of multi-class pattern classifier with minimum memory capacity using MACA(Multiple Attractor Cellular Automata) and the subspace concept for given multi-class patterns.

  • We present a realization of an LFSM that utilizes an LFSR. This is based on a well-known fact from linear algebra. This structure is used to show that a previous attempt at using a cellular automata in place of an LFSR in constructing a stream cipher did not necessarily increase its security. We also give a general method for checking whether or not a nonlinear filter generator based on an LFSM allows reduction to one that is based on an LFSR and which is vulnerable to Anderson information leakage.

  • Quantum-dot cellular automata(QCA) is a computing model designed to be similar to cellular automata, and an alternative technology for next generation using high performance and low power consumption. QCA is undergoing various studies with recent experimental results, and it is one of the paradigms of transistors that can solve device density and interconnection problems as nano-unit materials. An XOR gate is a gate that operates so that the result is true when either one of the logic is true. The proposed XOR gate consists of five layers. The first layer consists of OR gates, the third and fifth layers consist of AND gates, and the second and fourth layers are designed as passages in the middle. The half adder consists of an XOR gate and an AND gate. The proposed half adder is designed by adding two cells to the proposed XOR gate. The proposed half adder consists of fewer cells, total area, and clock than the conventional half adder.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the growing course of Busan, Gimhae and Jinhae and further find patterns of the urban growth. This study shows that patterns of the urban growth differ from city to city, being influenced by the city's characteristics. Acknowledging this fact would help the decision maker to determine the developing plan of the urban. The methodology for this study is as follows; Fuzzy set concept is applied to minimize the data loss. At the same time, the AHP is used to give a relative weight to each factor. In order to be able to manage the change based on the dynamic model and time, Cellular Automata is introduced to simulate the growth of urban. The results show that the pattern of Gimhae's and Jinhae's growth is the same, whereas that of Busan is different from them. That is to say, each city has regional characteristics. And the pattern of the urban growth is influenced by the regional conditions of the city.

  • Recently, the advent of wireless communication and other handhold devices like Personal Digital Assistants and smart cards have made in implementation of cryptosystems a major issue. One important aspect of modern day ciphers is the scope for hardware sharing between the encryption and decryption algorithm. The cellular Automata which have been proposed as an alternative to linear feedback shift registers(LFSRs) can be programmed to perform the operations without using any dedicated hardware. But to generalize and analyze CA is not easy. In this paper, we characterizes uniform/hybird complemented group CA with rules 195/153/51 that divide the entire state space into smaller spaces of maximal equal lengths. This properties can be useful in constructing key agreement algorithm.

  • The main objective of this paper is to provide an adequate and comprehensive review of what has been done in South Korea in the field of geospatial analysis and modeling. This review focuses on spatial data analysis and spatial statistics, spatial optimization, and geosimulation among various aspects of the field. It is recognized that geospatial analysis and modeling in South Korea got through the initial stage during the 1990s when computer and analytical cartography and GIS were introduced, moved to the growth stage during the first decade of the $21^{st}$ century when there was a surge of relevant researches, and now is heading for its maturity stage. In spatial data analysis and spatial statistics, various topics have been addressed for spatial point pattern data, areal data, geostatistical data, and spatial interaction data. In spatial optimization, modeling and applications related to facility location problems, districting problems, and routing problems have been mostly researched. Finally, in geosimulation, while most of research has focused on cellular automata, studies on agent-based model and simulation are in beginning stage. Among all these works, some have fostered methodological advances beyond simple applications of the standard techniques.
