Continuous Clock Synchronization and Packet Loss Tolerance Scheme for Enhancing Performance of Reference Broadcast Synchronization (RBS 성능향상을 위한 연속 클럭 동기화 및 패킷 손실 보상 기법)

  • Reference Broadcast Synchronization (RBS) is one of the most prominent synchronization protocols in wireless sensor nework. Given that the broadcasting medium is available, RBS can give very high accuracy of synchronization. However, RBS uses instantaneous synchronization and results in time discontinuity, which might cause serious faults in the distributed system. Also, RBS lacks packet loss tolerance, which brings about degraded performance in severe conditions of wireless channel. In this paper, the problem of time discontinuity in RBS is pointed out and the effect of packet loss on the performance of RBS is examined. Then, a continuous synchronization and a packet loss tolerance mechanism for RBS are proposed, and the result is verified through simulations.

Development of Optimum Construction Lift Operation System using Sensing Information for High-rise Building (센싱정보를 활용한 초고층 건설용 리프트 최적화 운행 시스템 개발)

  • As recent buildings have been more higher and larger, construction vertical lifting planning and operation is a key factor for successful project in tall building. Although many studies have been trying to set up a construction lifting planning system at early stage, there's not existing a control real-time lift operation control system with respect to during construction stage. Therefore, In this study, we use the sensor device to collect the lift operating data for improvement of lift operation efficiency and develope optimum lift operating system which can perform real-time analysis. Finally, we verify the efficiency of proposed system through comparison between realtime operating data and simulated data using proposing system. In this paper, the proposed system show more efficient moving line compared with previous system. This can contribute to development of unmanned lift system.

  • Satellite structure should be designed to accommodate and support safely the payload and equipments necessary for its own missions and to secure satellite and payloads from severe launch environments. The launch environments imposed on satellites are quasi-static accelerations, aerodynamic loads, acoustic loads and shock loads. Especially when optical payload is accommodated, satellite structure usually adopts the optical bench consisting of composite material not only to support and secure but also to guarantee good pointing stability against extreme thermal environments. This paper deals with optical bench and support structure which shall be designed to minimize the loads transferred to optical payloads from satellite.

  • The Intelligent Space(ISpace) provides challenging research fields for surveillance, human-computer interfacing, networked camera conferencing, industrial monitoring or service and training applications. ISpace is the space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors, are distributed. According to the cooperation of many intelligent devices, the environment, it is very important that the system knows the location information to offer the useful services. In order to achieve these goals, we present a method for representing, tracking and human Jollowing by fusing distributed multiple vision systems in ISpace, with application to pedestrian tracking in a crowd. This paper describes appearance based unknown object tracking with the distributed vision system in intelligent space. First, we discuss how object color information is obtained and how the color appearance based model is constructed from this data. Then, we discuss the global color model based on the local color information. The process of learning within global model and the experimental results are also presented.

  • As the wind has become one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources, the key issue of wind energy conversion systems is on how to efficiently operate the wind turbines in a wide range of wind speeds. In general, the wind speed is the main factor that impact on the dynamics of wind turbine system. Wind turbine algorithms are thus required to improve the performance of wind speed measurements. However, the accurate measurement of the effective wind speed using wind gauge and similar sensors is difficult such that control systems are needed for wind speed estimation using various techniques. Therefore, this research suggests the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method for tracking the wind speed based on neural networks. Design experiments were carried out in laboratory environment to validate the application of the proposed method.

  • ITS(Intelligent Transport System) has been researched actively to guarantee the smooth traffic and the safety of the vehicle. In recent, as the sensor for the measurement of distance between vehicles, the FMCW radar system in millimeter wave band has been interested in ITS. Actually, 47, 60, 77, 94 and 139 GHz have been assigned for the vehicle radar frequencies in Europe and Japan. However, the performances of the FMCW radar are deteriorated due to the interferences from the surrounding radars and mobile devices. In this paper, in order to model and simulate the performance of FMCW radar under the exterior interference, we propose a new performance parameter, RER(Radius Error Rate), which contains the information of the range error due to the interferences, and show the effectiveness of the proposed parameter.

  • In this paper, we implement a digital holographic security card system that combines digital holographic memory using random phase encoded reference beams with electrical biometrics. Digitally encoded data including a document, a picture of face, and a fingerprint are recorded by multiplexing of holographic memory. A random phase mask encoding reference beams are used as a decoded key to protect illegal counterfeit. As a result, we can achieve a raw BER of 3.6${\times}$10-4 and shift selectivity of 4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ using the 2D random phase mask. Also, we develop a recording pattern and image processing which are suitable for a low cost reader without a position sensing photo-detector for real time data extraction and remove danger of fraud from unauthorized person by comparing the reconstructed holographic data with the live fingerprint data.

  • By the use of open source and 16bit Microcomputer, IDB(Integrated Development Board) for embedded technical education was designed and developed. Based on 16bit MCU H8/300H, LED, LED Matrix, motors, sensors and various I/O circuitry, and the connection to a computer via the SCI, and $16{\times}2$ character LCD was designed and implemented on IDB. In addition, the software development environment was build by the assembler and H8 C compiler which is provided to the open-source software. And memory expansion was considered to include TRON(Real time OS) and uClinux. To verify the developed board, IDB was fabricated by PCB machine, and the fuction was confirmed by the basic I/O control program.

  • In this paper, we have developed the balance board with electronic devices to use in various fields of remedial and physical balance exercise with interesting game and the functional game. Rehabilitation training using a funny game will be effective for patient's rehabilitation training. A Personal training system uses a balance board with an acceleration sensor and the game controlled by physical balance. To evaluate the operation of the developed system, we developed rehabilitation training game. The proposed game can be applicable to rehabilitation and balance training, and suggested game interface method could use a commercial game with various function through our emulator.

A Point Navigation Guidance Law for Unmanned Helicopter Using Predicted Position (위치 예측에 기반한 무인헬기 점항법 유도법칙 개발)

  • This paper presents a new point navigation guidance law which is useful for unmanned helicopters. Predicting the future position, the guidance law generates velocity and heading commands, which are used as input to autopilot. This method differs from conventional guidance law in that it reorients the direction of flight velocity vector directly, not by bank angle indirectly. For flight tests, we have developed a flight control system for a R/C helicopters. The system consists of a flight control computer, navigation sensors, and a ground station The results of the test show that the proposed law guides a unmanned helicopter along a line path within a given area. In the future, we are planning to extend the guidance law to the mission of path following. i.e., waypoint navigation.
