Simulator Development of Wireless Avionics Intra-Communications (항공기내 무선 네트워크용 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • Recently, many researches have been conducted on the aviation industry to replace the wire harness cable between the avionics of the aircraft with the wireless network. In this paper, we present an Event-Based Simulator for Wireless Avionics Intra-Communications (ES-WAIC) that can verify core technologies of wireless networks and efficiently integrate different layers of the network. ES-WAIC is developed to enhance the readability between the real time control application developers of the higher layer and the network layer developers. Specifically, the practical implement relies on an event-based programming concept to increase portability and compatibility that can be applied to the realistic low-power wireless embedded networks. ES-WAIC implements the overall system layers including the wireless channel modeling of the 4.4GHz band, the physical layer, the medium access control, the network, and the application layer of wireless avionics intra-communications.

  • It is very important to collect and manage labor information in the construction industry that is labor-intensive. Although research and cases that utilize RFID are increasing for more effective labor management, labor management is limited to the checking-in and -out information management at the entrance of a construction site due to high expense of an RFID reader. Labor and safety information is still managed based on the redundant process that is hand-written in a book and re-input of information by using a personnel-computer. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to develop more effective and efficient process for labor information record and management. This paper presents a prototype application that supports integrated labor information management by incorporating QR-code into RFID-based labor management system and verifies the application through a pilot test and comparison with the existing labor management syste.

Design of a DC-DC Step-Down Converter for LED Backlight of Mobile Devices (휴대기기용 LED 백라이트를 위한 감압형 DC-DC 변환기 설계)

  • In this paper, a step down converter for LED backlight of mobile application has been proposed. The converter which is operated with 4 MHz high switching frequency is capable of reducing mounting area of passive devices consists of a power stage and a control block. Circuit elements of the power stage are inductor, output capacitor, MOS transistors and feedback resistors. The control block consists of pulse width modulator, error amplifier and oscillator etc. Proposed step down converter has been designed and verified using a $0.35{\mu}m$ 1-poly 4-metal BCD process technology. Simulation results show that the output voltage is 1.8 V in 3.7 V input voltage, output current 100 mA which is larger than 25 ~ 50 mA in conventional 500 KHz driven converter when the duty ratio is 0.4.

  • Thanks to progressive development of IT technology, the number of intelligent devices communicating each other through an In-Vehicle Network(IVN) has been steadily increasing. It is expected that the required network bandwidth and network nodes for vehicle control in 2015 will be increased by two times and one and half times as compared to in 2010, respectively. As a result, many researchers in automotive industry has showed a significant interest on industrial Ethernets, such as EtherCAT and TTEthernet. This paper addresses an analysis on transmission delay and fault recovery performance with an EtherCAT network which is being considered as an IVN. A mathematical model based on the analysis is verified through a set of experiments using an experimental network setup.

  • As increasing of using induction motors, the induction motors faults cause serious damage to the industry. Therefore to find out faults of induction motor is recognized as important problem awaiting solution. But to make matters worse, the faults of induction motors often progress through long time. It means that early diagnosis is very important. Many researches have been progressed and general method of diagnosis is using vibration sensor to diagnose fault of induction motor. However, although it is reliability technique, it demands high price and it is difficult to use. This paper presents an implementation of technique for fault diagnosis of induction motor using wavelet transform based stator current and it is composed with algorithm that decides whether fault existence or not using C++ based on windows software. The algorithm will be accomplished in real-time using current data acquisition board and PC automatically with Neural Network algorithm.

  • CORONA는 미국이 1960년에서 1972년까지 냉전시대 관심지역에 대한 첩보영상을 취득하기 위하여 운영한 영상취득시스템으로 1995년 일반에 자료가 공개됨에 따라 과거의 고해상도 영상자료를 이용할 수 있는 길이 열리게 되었다. 그러나 현재까지 CORONA 영상처리를 위한 모듈을 제공하는 원격탐측 소프트웨어가 개발되어 있지 않기 때문에 CORONA 영상을 이용하여 수치표고모형이나 정사영상을 제작하기 위해서는 적절한 모델링 방법이 필요하다. CORONA 영상은 파노라마 영상으로 필름 가장자리로 갈수록 왜곡이 많이 생기며 사진기 지표가 없고 위성의 궤도와 위치, 자세, 속도, IMC(Image Motion Compensation)에 대한 자세한 자료를 제공하지 않는 문제점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 지형복원을 위하여 지상기준점을 이용하는 2가지 모델링 방법을 이용하였다. 첫 번째는 파노라마 왜곡과 촬영 비행체 이동에 의한 왜곡, IMC에 의한 왜곡을 보정하는 모형식을 구성하여 이용하였으며, 두 번째는 위성과 센서에 대한 정보를 필요로 하지 않는 다항식비례모형(RFM; Rational Function Model)을 이용하였다. 대상지역은 서울지역의 입체영상으로 대략 $33km{\times}26km$ 지역이다. 영상은 지상해상도 약 2.7m로 스캐닝하였고 1:1000 수치지도를 통해 20개의 기준점과 36개의 검사점을 관측하였다. 검사점의 위치정확도를 평가해 본 결과 첫 번째 방법은 수평방향으로 평균 3.9m(X), 2.8m(Y)의 오차를 보였으며 표고의 경우 4.2m의 오차를 보여주었다. 두 번째 방법은 수평방향으로 평균 3.2m(X), 2.8m(Y)의 오차를 보였으며 표고의 경우 5.5m의 오차를 보여주었다. 지형복원 정확도를 검증하기 위하여 첫 번째 방법을 이용하여 대상지역 중 일부인 서울 남산지역에 대해 정사영상과 10m간격의 DEM을 제작하였으며 1:1000 수치지도를 통해 제작된 DEM과 비교한 결과 총 43990개 격자점의 표고 차이는 평균 5.98m였다.

  • In this paper, a reaction-force compensation system for an XY linear motion stage, without an additional external isolation structure or extra motors, is developed. This system consists of a movable magnet track, a spring, a dummy weight, and a dedicated sensor module that measures the relative positions of the movable magnet track with respect to the motor coil. The reaction force compensation system is modeled, and simulations are carried out to optimize design parameters such as the moving distance of the magnet track, the transmission force, the dummy weight, and the allowed size of the mechanism. An XY linear motion stage is built, incorporating the reaction force compensation system, and the performance of the system is verified experimentally. For acceleration and deceleration values of 10 m/$s^2$, 85% of the reaction force is absorbed by the reaction force compensation system.

  • The objective of this research is to improve the efficiency of data collection from many machine components on smart factory floors using IoT(Internet of things) techniques and cloud platform, and to make it easy to update outdated diagnostic schemes through online deployment methods from cloud resources. The short-term analysis is implemented by a micro-controller, and it includes machine-learning algorithms for inferring snapshot information of the machine components. For long-term analysis, time-series and high-dimension data are used for root cause analysis by combining a cloud platform and multivariate analysis techniques. The diagnostic results are visualized in a web-based display dashboard for an unconstrained user access. The implementation is demonstrated to identify its performance in data acquisition and analysis for rotating machinery.

  • A Compton X-ray backscatter technique has been developed to quantitatively assess impact damage in quasi-isotropic laminated composites made by a drop-weight tester. X-ray backscatter imaging system with a slit-type camera is constructed to obtain a cross-sectional profile of impact-damaged laminated composites from the electron-density variation of the cross section. A nonlinear scattering model based on Boltsman equation is introduced to compute Compton X-ray backscattering field for the defect assessment. An adaptive filter is also used to reduce noises from many sources including quantum noise and irregular distributions of fibers and matrix in composites. Delaminations masked or distorted by the first delamination are detected and characterized effectively by the Compton X-ray backscatter technique, both in width and location, by application of error minimization algorithm.

  • In this study, we investigate the feasibility of modeling entire image strips that has been acquired from the same orbital segments. We tested sensor models based on satellite orbit and attitude with different sets(Type1 ~ Type4) of unknowns. We checked the accuracy of orbit modeling by establishing sensor models of one scene using control points extracted from the scene and by applying the models to adjacent scenes within the same orbital segments. Results indicated that modeling of individual scenes with 1st or 2nd order unknowns was recommended. We tested the accuracy of around control points, digital map using the HIST-DPW (Hanjin Information Systems & Telecommunication Digital Photogrammetric Workstation) As a result, we showed that the orbit-based sensor model is a suitable sensor model for making 1/25,000 digital map.
