Modeling and Simulation for using Multiple Routing Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 다중 라우팅 프로토콜 사용을 위한 모델링과 시뮬레이션)

  • In the fourth industrial revolution, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are an important element of collecting and analyzing data in a variety of environments without human intervention. This sensor network is greatly affected by topology and routing protocols. Routing protocols, which affect energy consumption, are executed after deploying sensor nodes. Once built, they are difficult to change. Before the WSN is deployed, a routing protocol is carefully selected in view of various environments and the performance of the protocol is evaluated. In this paper, we propose a model to simulate multiple routing protocols using a discrete event system specification (DEVS). The DEVS-based proposed model simulates various situations without changes and structures of the its model as algorithms of the routing protocols are implemented in its coordinators model. To verify normal behaviors of the proposed model, the number of report delivery and the energy consumption of the sensor network were compared using representative protocols LEACH and Dijkstra. As a result, it was confirmed that the proposed model executes normally in both routing protocols.

  • 시각 센서를 이용한 환경 및 상황 인식은 로봇의 자동화된 행동을 위해서 매우 중요하다. 실제 환경에서 사람은 주위를 인식할 때 여러 단계의 인식과정을 거친다. 효율적이고 정확한 환경 인식을 위해서는 지능형 로봇의 인식 또한 사람의 인식과정과 같이 다단계로 이루어져야 한다. 또한 실제 환경은 유동적이며 많은 불확실성을 가지고 있으므로 불확실한 상황에 강인한 인식 방법이 필요하다. 이러한 불확실성을 내포한 환경 및 상황 인식에는 베이지안 네트워크를 이용한 인식이 강인하나 복잡한 환경을 하나의 베이지안 네트워크로 인식하는 것은 어렵다. 이 논문에서는 복잡하고 불확실한 환경 인식을 위한 여러 베이지안 네트워크를 사람의 인식과 같은 다단계의 인식 과정으로 구성된 행동 네트워크 기반으로 결합하는 앙상블 기법을 제안한다. 불확실한 상황을 적용한 환경 실험과 로봇 시뮬레이터를 이용한 로봇 실험으로 베이지안 네트워크 앙상블 기법이 환경 인식에 효과적인 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • IEEE 802.15.4는 저전력 무선 개인 네트워크(LR-WPAN, Low Rate-Wireless Personal Area Network)를 위한 표준으로 무선 센서 네트워크 기술에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 그러나 IEEE 802.15.4는 멀티홉 네트워크나 여러 개의 PAN(Personal Area Network)으로 구성된 네트워크에 대해서는 상세하게 기술하고 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.15.4를 기반으로 하는 ZigBee RF4CE 네트워크에서 사용하는 multiple star 토폴로지를 주목하였다. multiple star 토폴로지처럼 여러 개의 PAN 간에 통신이 이루어질 경우, 이를 에너지 효율적으로 수행할 수 있도록 하는 비컨 간격(Beacon Interval)과 슈퍼프레임 시간(Superframe Duration)을 분석한다. 이를 위해 QualNet 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 multiple star 토폴로지 네트워크를 형성하고, 비컨 간격과 슈퍼프레임 시간을 결정하는 요소에 대해 분석하였다.

  • Wireless sensor network (WSN) technology has been implemented using commercial off-the-shelf microcontrollers (MCUs), In this paper, we propose a simulation environment to realize the physical evaluation of FPGA-based node by considering vertically cross-layered WSN in terms of physical node device and network interconnection perspective. The proposed simulation framework emulates the physical FPGA-based sensor nodes to interoperate with the NS3 through the runtime infrastructure (RTI). For the emulation and interoperation of FPGA-based nodes, we extend a vendor-providing FPGA design tool from the host computer and a script to execute the interoperation procedures. The standalone NS-3 is also revised to perform interoperation through the RTI. To resolve the different time-advance mechanisms between the FPGA emulation and event-driven NS3 simulation, the pre-simulation technique is applied to the proposed environment. The proposed environment is applied to IEEE 802.15.4-based low-rate, wireless personal area network communication.

A Bitarray-Based Reverse Routing Method in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 역방향 통신을 위한 비트열기반 경로설정 방법)

  • Most of the discussed power efficient routing algorithms, such as LEACH, PEDAP and etc., assume that a base station has infinite resources and there is no traffic limit. However, these assumptions cannot be applied to typical wireless sensor network environments, especially a small sensor network using a normal node as the base station. Moreover, many studies on the wireless sensor networks have not been considering the reverse transmission scheme which transmits data from a sink node to the normal nodes. We propose a bitarray-based reverse routing method which is a power efficient routing algorithm for the wireless sensor networks. The proposed method can be easily implemented by using the tree-based routing scheme and can be worked well with the small memory size for the address of sensor nodes. The experimental result shows that the amount of message transmission of the proposed bitarray-based reverse routing method can be reduced about 61.3% or more compared to the previous methods.

A Byzantine Fault-tolerant Clock Synchronization Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 비잔틴 오류를 허용하는 클럭 동기화 기법)

  • This paper proposes the Byzantine fault tolerant clock synchronization scheme for wireless sensor networks to cope with the clock synchronization disturbance attack of malicious nodes. In the proposed scheme, a node which is requiring clock synchronization receives 3m+1 clock synchronization messages not only from its parent nodes but also from its sibling nodes in order to tolerate malicious attacks even if up to m malicious nodes exist among them. The results show that the proposed scheme is 7 times more resilient to the clock synchronization disturbance attack of malicious nodes than existing schemes in terms of synchronization accuracy.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서는 화재경보와 습도정보와 같이 긴급한 정보는 다른 정보보다 신뢰적이고 낮은 지연시간을 갖게 전송되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 긴급정보를 신속하고 신뢰적으로 전송하기 위한 기법을 제안하였다. 제안하는 기법은 가용한 다중경로를 선택하고 RTS에 기입하여 순차적으로 CTS를 수신함으로써 채널 에러율에 강하고, 충돌영역에 따라 세 영역으로부터 CTS를 수신하기 때문에 높은 채널 에러율에서 신속하게 패킷을 전송하도록 하였다. 또한 ns-2 시뮬레이터를 이용한 실험을 통하여 제안한 기법의 성능을 CMSA MAC과 비교를 하였고, 실험 결과를 통해 제안하는 기법이 보다 신속하고 신뢰적인 전송을 하는 것을 확인하였다.

Tracking Moving Objects Using Signature-based Data Aggregation in Sensor Network (센서네트워크에서 시그니처 기반 데이터 집계를 이용한 이동객체 트래킹 기법)

  • Currently, there are many applications being developed based on sensor network technology. A tracking method for moving objects in sensor network is one of the main issue of this field. There is a little research on this issue, but most of the existing work has two problems. The first problem is a communication overhead for visiting sensor nodes many times to track a moving object. The second problem is an disability for dealing with many moving objects at a time. To resolve the problems, we, in this paper, propose a signature-based tracking method using efficient data aggregation for moving objects, called SigMO-TRK. For this, we first design a local routing hierarchy tree to aggregate moving objects' trajectories efficiently by using a space filtering technique. Secondly, we do the tracking of all trajectories of moving objects by using signature in a efficient way, our approach generates signatures to method. In addition, by extending the SigMO-TRK, we can retrieve the similar trajectories of moving objects for given a query. Finally, by using the TOSSIM simulator, we show that our signature-based tracking method outperforms the existing tracking method in terms of energy efficiency.

  • In wireless sensor networks Time synchronization used to be performed after routing tree is constructed. It results in increasing the number of packets and energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a time synchronization algorithm combined with flooding routing tree construction algorithm, which applies LTS (Lightweight Time Synchronization) information packed into the forwarding and backward routing packets. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm compensates the time error due to clock drift using the round time with fixed period. We prove that the proposed algorithm could synchronize the time of among sensor nodes more accurately compared to TSRA (Time Synchronization Routing Algorithm) using NS2 simulation tool.

Low Power MAC Protocol Design of an Efficient Preamble Exploiting Virtual Synchronization Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 효율적인 프리앰블 가상 동기화 기법을 사용하는 저전력 MAC 프로토콜 설계)

  • The researches about energy efficieny of wireless sensor MAC protocol is an issue in present days. Therefore, MAC and routing protocols for reducing energy consumption at sensor nodes is needed. In this study, a low-power MAC protocol for sensor network is proposed, which in based on X-MAC by exploiting virtual synchronization. The virtual synchronization technique lets senders postpone packet transmission until receivers' wake-up time, so that senders transmit only one or two short preambles. Using NS-2, a proposed MAC protocol improve the energy efficiency by 10% compared with the X-MAC protocol.
