Antimicrobial Effects of Laundering and Colloidal Silver Treatment on a Cotton Fabric (은 용액 처리와 세탁 조건에 따른 면직물의 항균효과)

  • We examined the antimicrobial effects of the cotton fabrics which were laundered at different conditions and treated with a colloidal silver solution using Staphylococcus aureus. Colloidal silver solution was made from commercial colloidal silver generator by electrolysis. The fabric which was innoculated and washed with water before drying had no more Staphylococcus aureus, but which was innoculated and dried before washing with detergent solution had lower reduction rate. The fabric washed with oxygen bleach did not have an antimicrobial effect, but rinsed with 0.07% fabric softener showed antimicrobial properties. The fabric rinsed with 0.7ppm colloidal silver solution had better antimicrobial effects. As the treating concentration of silver solution increased, the antimicrobial property of the fabric was increased. The fabric treated with 5% silver solution sustained reflectance and whiteness of untreated fabric. The colloidal silver treated fabric lost antimicrobial property after washing because nano-sized silver particles were located on uneven fiber surface without chemical bonding forces.

Effect of Aftertreatments for Washing on Mechanical Properties of Knitted Fabrics (세탁수처리제가 편성물의 역학적 특성치에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effect of aftertreatments such as using the softener or starch on the mechanical properties of knitted fabrics. The mechanical properties of fabrics, hand value(HV) and total hand value(THV) were measured and calculated by the KES-F system. The main results are as follows: The values of tensile energy(WT), coefficient of friction(MIU) and geometrical roughness(SMD) were increased by softener but decreased by starch treatment. However, the values of tensile linearity(LT), bending(B, 2HB), thickness(T) and weight(W) were increased by starch but decreased by softener treatment. Tensile resilience(RT) was increased not only by softener but also by starch treatment. It showed that the levels of FUKURAMI, NUMERI and SOFUTOSA were increased by the treatment of softener and the levels of KOSHI and SHARI were increased by the treatment of starch. Total hand value(THV) was lower in fabric with starch treatment than fabric with none treatment.

  • 최근 주된 관심사로 대두된 대기오염규제 대상 물질인 휘발성유기화합물(VOCs)은 상온, 상압하에서 reid vapor pressure가 10.3kPa 이상인 탄화수소 물질로서 여러 형태로 대기중이나 수질중에 존재하고, 인간의 주변 환경 및 건강에 직접적으로 해를 끼친다. 간접적으로는 대기중 광화학 반응에 참여하여 오존($O_3$)을 생성시키거나 스모그 생성의 전구체로 작용한다. 우리나라에서는 1999년부터 대기환경보전법 제8조 2항 규정에 의한 대기환경규제지역(석유화학 정제업, 자동차 제조업, 주유고, 자동차 정비업소, 세탁시설 등)에서 VOCs를 규제토록 법제화하고 있다.   • Finite element scheme to analyze the vibration characteristics of the axisymmetric rotor system is developed. The rotor system of a large washer-extractor is analyzed as an example. Natural frequency obtained by FEM is in good agreement with experimental one by impact test. Also, parametric studies using FEM code developed are carried out for the investigation of the effects of the radii of the axis and the cylinder on the stiffness and the critical speed of the system. Larger radius of the axis makes the system stiffer and increases the critical speed at which the unbalance response has its maximum value. Whereas, the stiffness and the critical speed decrease at first and then increase as the radius of the cylinder increases.

  • The numerical study was carried out to effectively cool Induction motor applied to a washing machine. The outer rotor made of steel periodically spins up and down. The stator consists of the thin layered iron plates and copper coil. The effective cooling system is necessary to solve the reliability problem caused by the electric losses at the coil and the iron plate. Because the heat transfer rate of the natural convection in partially open space is generally low, thus it is necessary to enhance the heat transfer using rotating perforated plate. The flow phenomena around the motor are very complex due to the motor geometry and the outer rotor motion. The mixed convection takes place due to the slow rotation speed. The three dimensional flow simulation was performed using rotating reference frame technique and Boussinesq approximation but the radiation effect was neglected. It was found that the angle and direction of the cooling blades play an important role in the stator temperature.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate performance evaluation of absorbing and fast-drying fabric after washing. In the comparison of absorption and fast-drying properties, there was slight difference among the materials depending on thickness, weight, and fabric structure. Absorption speed of the materials depended on the frequency of washing which might be caused by modification of fabric structure or composition fiber due to friction during washing. The ability of fast-drying of the materials was gradually decreased with the increase of washing frequency, which might be caused by fatigue accumulation on inner fiber and structural change or destruction with friction during washing.

  • 도시와 산업의 발달 및 인구의 도시 집중화로 다양한 종류의 오염물질이 다량으로 대기 중으로 배출되는 통 환경오염이 날로 심각해지고 상황에서, 특히 악취(odor)와 VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) 물질이 사회의 중요한 환경오염 문제고 부각되고 있다 광화학스모그의 선구물질인 VOC의 주요 배출원은 도로차량, 비도로차량, 용제사용과 유류저장으로 파악되고 있으며 그중 용제사용 부문에는 세정, 인쇄, 세탁, 도장, 농약살포, 소비용품, 도로포장 통에서 대부분 배출되는 것으로 알려져 있다 또한 환경기초시설인 하폐수처리장, 폐기물 소각장 및 매립장 등에서도 다량의 VOC/악취 물질들이 배출되고 있다.   • 휘발성유기화합물질 (Volatile Organic Compounds, VOCs)은 오존층을 파괴시키는 염소화합물과 광화학 스모그를 형성하는 촉매로 작용하는 주요 대기오염 물질일 뿐만 아니라 VOCs 자체로도 인류의 건강을 위협하는 물질이다. 특히 휘발성유기화합물은 물질의 종류가 수십 종에 이르며 석유화학산업, 도료산업 등의 고농도 발생사업장과 상대적으로 낮은 농토수준이기는 하지만 일상생활에서 절하게 되는 자동차, 주유소, 세탁소 등의 시설을 통해 지속적으로 환경계에 배출되는 등 발생원이 다양하며 측정분석방법에 내재된 어려움으로 인하여 다른 일반적인 대기오염물질에 비하여 여러 가지 측면에서 적절한 관리가 힘든 것으로 알려져 있다.   • Recently washing machines are to be in lower vibration and lower sound because of better environment. Vibration problems in washing machines occur in both washing mode and spinning mode, but vibration in spinning mode becomes main problem because of its high rotating speed and continuity. Vibration while spinning is mainly due to rigid body motion of total washing system which includes suspending rods, washing bath, spinning bath, and gear sets. In this study, some researches were done in order to analyze the rigid body motion of washing system and flexible vibration of spinning bath. A basic mathematical model was established, and the effect of position of salt water and shape change of salt water case were considered. And the effect of lengths of suspending rods, attaching angles, vertical and horizontal position, stiffness of spring on the change of vibration were also considered. To identify the effect of salt water on vibration, some measurements were done. When salt water was positioned at upper part, the effect was most and this coincides with the tendency of simulation.
