Achieve the mechanical strength of ceramic membrane using low temperature ceramic glaze (저온용 도자기 유약을 이용한 세라믹 분리막의 기계적 강도 증가)

  • Ceramic membrane has been widely used for water treatment due to its advantages of eco-friendly property and low energy consumption. However, high porosity of ceramic membrane higher than 40 % may cause a problem of strength, when it is applied to a water treatment module. In order to solve this problem, the strength of the membrane edge was improved by using the ceramic glaze. Four different glaze compositions for low temperature sintering was selected to minimize the deformation of the membrane microstructure. After coating with low temperature glaze, cracks were observed due to differences in thermal expansion coefficient between the membrane and glaze. Thus, the thermal expansion coefficient of glaze was controlled by addition of cordierite and petalite. As a results, the compressive strength of the ceramic membrane, which was coated with the optimized glaze composition, was increased from $27N/m^2$ to $117N/m^2$, indicating that the glaze coating can improve the disadvantages of the fragile ceramic membrane.

  • 기계적, 열적 강도가 우수한 무기막과 다양한 기능성을 가질 수 있는 유기막의 결합에 관하여 그동안 많은 연구가 진행되어왔다. 무기막은 높은 열적, 기계적 안정성을 가지고 있기 때문에 지지체로써 큰 이점을 가지고 있으며, 고분자를 비롯한 유기막은 그 다양성과 응용성에 있어 장점을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 지지체로써 물성이 뛰어난 세라믹막의 표면에 다양한 유기 기능기를 가지는 실란화합물을 그래프팅 방법을 통하여 도입하여 유-무기 혼성막을 제조하고 표면 특성의 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다.(중략)

Effect of Trans-Membrane Pressure on Reversible and Irreversible Fouling Formation of Ceramic Membrane (막간차압이 세라믹막의 가역막오염과 비가역막오염 형성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate how reversible and irreversible fouling were distributed in the filtration using ceramic membrane of 300 kDa pore size for secondary effluent of wastewater. It was performed by calculating fouling as numerical method for diverse TMPs and measured F-EEM and SEC for raw water, treated water and backwashed water. Water quality was also checked to know whether treated water quality was stable or not. The results showed that reversible fouling formation was increased when lower TMP was applied and it is caused by protein like organic matters having higher molecular weights. The secondary wastewater effluent had diverse molecular weight materials, especially contaminants lower than 0.5 kDa and bigger than 12 kDa. Decreasing TMP induced contaminants above 12 kDa and below 1 kDa to become reversible fouling.

  • Metal-working lubricants, metal-finishing bath wastes, mechanical oil-water emlsion 등과 같은 공업 폐수들은 보통 0.1 $\mu$m 이하의 크기를 가지는 oil-in-water 에멀젼이 약 2 wt% 정도 포함되어 있어, oil의 함량이 30 wt% 이상이 되도록 농축시킨다면 재사용이 가능하게 되며, 정밀여과막이나 한외여과막으로 oil을 분리할 수 있다. 본 실험에서는 압출성형법으로 제조한 튜브형 다공성 $\alpha-Al_2O_3$ 담체(평균 기공 크기 = 0.7 $\mu$m, 길이:200,600mm, 직경:8mm, 두께:0.8mm) 위에 슬립 캐스팅법을 이용하여 TiO$_2$ 막을 코팅한 후 925$\circ$C에서 2시간 동안 열처리하여 정밀여과용 세라믹 막을 제조하였다.
