Optical and electrical characterization for Ceramic Metal Halide Lamps (세라믹 메탈헬라이드램프의 전기적, 광학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • 1960년대 중반부터 이미 고압 나트륨램프에 사용되어 오던 반투명의 세라믹 재료(Polycrystalline Ceramic Alumina ; PCA)를 기존 메탈핼라이드램프의 석영(Quartz) 발광관에 적용시킨 세라믹 메탈핼라이드(Ceramic Metal Halide ; CMH) 램프는 1995년 처음 소개된 이래 색 제어, 연색성, 광속유지율 등에서 전통적인 석영 메탈핼라이드(Quartz Metal Halide ; QMH)램프보다 우수한 특성을 가지고 있어 저와트급(150W이하)에서 고와트급에 이르기까지 폭넓게 사용되어지고 있으며 현재 국내에서도 이러한 CMH램프의 개발이 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 CMH램프의 우수한 특성을 살펴보기 위하여 국외 선진제품에 대한 전기적, 광학적 특성을 살펴보았으며 실험 결과 CMH 램프의 광속유지 율이 기존 QMH 램프보다 우수한 특성을 갖는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 고휘도 방전(High Intensity Discharge ; HID)램프는 고압기체 또는 증기 중의 방전에 의한 발광을 이용한 램프로서 고압수은램프, 메탈핼라이드램프 및 고압나트륨램프를 총칭한다. 이들 HID램프는 작은 발광관에서 고출력의 광속을 발산시킬 수 있기 때문에 주로 많은 광속을 필요로 하는 장소에 폭넓게 사용되어지고 있다. 특히, 메탈핼라이드램프의 경우 금속 고유의 여기파장을 이용하여 기존 수은방전에서 결핍된 스펙트럼을 보충할 수 있기 때문에 보다 높은 발광효율과 연색성을 향상시킬 수 있어 HID램프 중 가장 이상적인 광원으로 평가받고 있다. 근래에는 기존 발광관 재료로 사용해 오던 석영(Quartz)을 내열성 및 내식성 등이 우수한 alumina ceramic으로 교체한 세라믹 메탈핼라이드(Ceramic Metal Halide ; CMH) 램프가 개발되어 램프의 소형화를 통해 옥내 상업용 조명시설에 급속히 보급이 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 CMH램프의 우수한 특성을 살펴보기 위하여 국외 선진제품에 대한 전기적, 광학적 특성을 살펴보았다.

Fabrication and Evaluation of Heat Transfer Property of 50 Watts Rated LED Array Module Using Chip-on-board Type Ceramic-metal Hybrid Substrate (Chip-on-board 형 세라믹-메탈 하이브리드 기판을 적용한 50와트급 LED 어레이 모듈의 제조 및 방열특성 평가)

  • This paper describes the fabrication and heat transfer property of 50 watts rated LED array module where multiple chips are mounted on chip-on-board type ceramic-metal hybrid substrate with high heat dissipation property for high power street and anti-explosive lighting system. The high heat transfer ceramic-metal hybrid substrate was fabricated by conformal coating of thick film glass-ceramic and silver pastes to form insulation and conductor layers, using thick film screen printing method on top of the high thermal conductivity aluminum alloy heat-spreading panel, then co-fired at $515^{\circ}C$. A comparative LED array module with the same configuration using epoxy resin based FR-4 PCB with thermalvia type was also fabricated, then the thermal properties were measured with multichannel temperature sensors and thermal resistance measuring system. As a result, the thermal resistance of the ceramic-metal hybrid substrate in the $4{\times}9$ type LEDs array module exhibited about one third to the value as that of FR-4 substrate, implying that at least triple performance of heat transfer property as that of FR-4 substrate was realized.

  • 세라믹, 다이야몬드등과 같은 고경질재료에 대한 미소형상의 가공은 대단히 어렵고 일반적인 방법으로는 상당한 시간을 요구한다. 이러한 재료의 고능률 가공을 실현하기 위하여, 메탈본드 다이야몬드휠에 전해 인프로세스 드레싱(Electrolytic In-Process Dressing)을 적용한 연삭을 머시닝센타에서 시도하였다 본 연구에서, 메탈본드 다이야몬드휠은 전기방전에 의하여 고능률로 트루잉(truing)되었다. 알루미나 세라믹의 핀선단($\phi$50$\mu\textrm{m}$)과 로커웰 경도측정기의 다이야몬드 압입자(indenter)($\phi$40$\mu\textrm{m}$)를 ELID연삭에 의하여 창성하였다. 그 결과를 본 논문에서 보고한다.

  • We described the operating principles of two different type of igniters for lightning of Ceramic Metal Halide Lamp(CMHL) and also provide some useful comparisons. One is for magnetic ballast, the other one is for electronic ballast which operates lamp by low-frequency square-waveform. Ignition voltage of lamp depends on the structure of igniter, such as the length and electrical characteristics of cable, which make troubles for ignition in real sites. Therefore, we measured and analyzed ignition voltages from igniters which are used in magnetic and electronic ballast in cables at a distance of 5 meters between a lamp and a igniter to suggests an applicable solution in real sites.

  • The ceramic metal resin paints for waterproof and anti corrosion is not long history in development of materials even many actual result. So far, no standard have been given to construction and maintenance method, Quality and property, it is real state that cannot afford to proper quality control in job site or production. This study has been test for the ceramic metal resin paints for water and anti corrosion, as the result, it have proper performance of job site and mechanical performance of compare to other existing. In particular, tensile strength indicates more high about $14.1N/mm^2$ than epoxy resin paints, and in elongation per unit length is more high It is shows having better adhesive strength than epoxy resin paint for crack on the concrete structure. Moreover, The ceramic metal paint for water and corrosion proofing have to have main performance is watertightness and resistance for external impact, chloride ion permeation, drinkable water elution.

A Study on the Copper Metallizing Method of $Al_2$O$_3$ Ceramic Surface (알루미나(Al$_2$O$_3$) 세라믹 표면의 강메탈라이징법에 관한 연구)

  • Metallizing method on ceramic surface is one of the compositing technology of ceramics and metal. The purpose of this study is to make HIC (Hybrid Intergrated Circuit) with copper metallizing method of which copper layer is formed on ceramic substrate by firing in atmosphere in lieu of conventional hybrid microcircuit systems based on noble metal. Metallizing pastes were made from various copper compounds such as Cu$_{2}$O, CuO, Cu, CuS and kaolin. And the screen printing method was used. The characteristics of metallized copper layers were analyzed through the measurement of sheet resistance, SEM, and EDZX. The results obtainted are summarized as follows; 1. The copper metallizing layers on ceramic surface can be formed by firing in air. 2. The metallized layer using Cu$_{2}$O paste showed the smallest sheet resistance among a group of copper chemical compounds. And optimum metallizing conditions are 15 minutes of firing time, 1000.deg.C of firig temperature, and 3 minutes of deoxidation time. 3. The results of EDAX analysis showed mutual diffusion of Cu and Al. 4. The kaolin plays a important role of deepening the penetration of Cu to $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramics. But if the kaolin content is too much, sheet resistance increases and copper metallizing layer becomes brittle.
