  • The notable findings are as follow: First, men show higher level of perceiving open marriage, sex-role, acceptance of extra-marital relationship and intention of extra-marital sex than that of women. Second, the effects of men's perception of sex-role and open marriage, and the acceptance of extra-marital relationship have direct effects on their intention of extra-marital sex. The acceptance of extra-marital relationship shows the mediation effect on the path between that of open marriage and extra-marital sex among men. However, men's perception of sex-role does not affect the acceptance of extra-marital relationship. Lastly, women's perception of sex-role and open marriage, and the acceptance of extra-marital relationship directly influence the intention of extra-marital sex each, including the mediating effect of accepting extra-marital relationship between that of open marriage and extra-marital sex which are similar to the men's trend. Women's perception of sex-role show the direct effect on the acceptance of extra-marital relationship unlike man's trend. Therefore, the fact demonstrates that the effect of perceiving of sex-role on the intention of extra-marital sex is different according to gender. Some practical and political implications are discussed based on the study's findings.

  • This study examined the structural relationship among personal belief in a just world, presence of meaning in life, self-control, and aggression in college students. For this research, self-reported data from 427 college students were analyzed by gender, using structural equation modeling. Results indicated that personal belief in a just world predicted aggression regardless of gender. The mediating effect of self-control was non-significant among both women and men groups. The mediating effect of presence of meaning in life and self-control was significant among only women. It means that personal belief in a just world predicted presence of meaning in life and self-control, which consequently contributed to aggression among women. It is noteworthy that this study examined the concrete mechanism to reduce aggression by gender. Based on these findings, intervention strategies were discussed.

  • A rapid increase was observed among individuals who want to communicate through a Social Networking Service (SNS). The increasing number of SNS users who create and share information resulted in a huge volume of SNS information. This deluge of information decreases the interest of SNS users, thereby prompting them to generate stimulating and exaggerated information to draw attention to themselves. This study aims to examine the effect of SNS users' desire for attention and share their tourism experience. This study utilizes use and gratification theory and investigates the moderating effect of gender. The analysis shows that the desire for attention influences sharing of tourism experience through compliance and identification at the level of SNS commitment. Gender difference was observed between compliance and identification. This study provides theoretical and practical implications based on the results.

  • This study examined the peer and gender effects in knowledge-sharing behavior. More specifically, this paper examined how coworker social loafing is related to knowledge sharing and how gender differences moderate the relationship between coworker social loafing and knowledge-sharing behavior. Drawing on economic and social exchange theory, this study predicts that coworker social loafing will decrease the knowledge-sharing behavior. In addition, this paper hypothesized that men will be more likely to withdraw knowledge-sharing behavior than women when they faced coworker social loafing. To test these hypotheses, this paper conducted a hierarchical regression test with the supervisor-employee dyad samples. The empirical results showed that in the relationship between coworker social loafing and knowledge-sharing behavior, coworker social loafing decreased the knowledge-sharing behavior, and the negative effect was larger in the case of men rather than women. In the discussion section, this paper proposes the theoretical and practical implications based on theoretical arguments and empirical findings.

  • This study examines links between Korean adolescents' uses of games and their school lives. A gender-based analysis was conducted and moderating effects of social relationship variables were tested. The major findings are as follows. First, some gender differences were found in impacts of game use. For example, although a game addiction variable appeared to influence both male and female adolescents negatively on the school-related conscientiousness, only male students displayed a negative impact of game time. It represents a gender difference in the preferred game genres and ways of using them. Second, the analysis showed that variables of social relationship could moderate the negative effects of game use. While the relationship with father appeared to moderate the negative effects of game time in male adolescents, the relationship with mother turned out to relieve the negative impacts of game addiction in female ones. In the case of male adolescents, however, the relationship with the parents did not show any moderating effect on game addiction. This study supports the claim that it is necessary to take a gendered approach in studying gaming.
