A Structural Analysis on the Motive & Source for Successful New Product Development (성공적 신제품 개발을 위한 동기원천의 구조분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 $\ulcorner$T/M 매트릭스$\lrcorner$에 근거한 제품속성역에 따라 신제품을 규정하고, 통계적 분석 및 해석을 통하여 성공적인 신제품개발을 위한 개발동기 및 정보원천에 대한 구조를 제시하였다. 본 연구는 전자, 통신, 반도체, 컴퓨터 등 신제품 개발활동이 활발한 4종의 산업을 대상으로 조사를 실시하였으며, 그 주요성과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기술수준의 속성역에 따라 신제품의 개발동기가 다른 것으로 밝혀졌고. 시장중심적 제품이 기술중심적 제품보다 높은 성공률을 보였다. 둘째, 우리 산업의 경우, 신제품개발을 위한 아이디어 제안율이 매우 낮은 수준이어서 제안집단들로부터 많은 정보를 흡수하기 위해서는 아이디어정보 관리체제의 정비에 노력을 기울여야 할 것으로 분석되었다.

The Impact of HQ-subsidiary Cooperation on Time Efficiency in International Rollout (국제신제품시판 시간효율성에 대한 본사-자회사간 협력의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the moderating effect of HQ-subsidiary cooperation on the relationships between standardization and on-time completion of new product development (NPD) and international new product rollout (INPR). It was empirically tested by a Korean sample to verify the validity of the research framework. The results show that the higher the HQ-subsidiary/agent cooperation, the stronger the effect of NPD timeliness on INPR timeliness. However, HQ-subsidiary cooperation does not moderate the relationship between standardization and INPR timeliness. Under conditions in which the subsidiary and headquarters have a positive relationship, open communications, and regular interactions, more successful new product development in terms of planned time schedule is strongly associated with a much faster introduction to overseas markets.

  • The objective of our study is to build a theoretical framework for the examination of impacts of cross-functional integration upon new product development performance(NPDP). For this purpose, we have concentrated our efforts on systematically delving into how cross-functional integration factors affect upon the interdepartmental cooperation and upon the NPDP while dividing those critical integration factors into the structural and the infra-structural ones. We have selected interdepartmental job-rotation, consigning of papers, and cross-functional teem meeting as structural cross-functional integration factors. On the other hand, we have chosen Quality Functional Deployment(QFD), Concurrent Engineering(CE), and Evaluation and Reward Systems as those infra-structural cross-functional integration factors. After identifying those integration factors, we have carefully searched the relationship between those integration factors and those cooperation variables (interdepartmental common goal, interdepartmental interactions, and common sharing of ideas and informations) to look into how they affect upon the NPDP. Among cross-functional integration and NPDP related studies, our study is the first to show systematically how strongly infra-structural integration factors affect upon the achievement of interdepartmental cooperation and the improvement of NPDP. Considering the limitation of our resources and time available for this research, we have limited our study to building only a theoretical framework for future empirical studies to look into how cross-functional integration variables are related with NPDP.

  • This study identifies interest and reasons for small- and medium-sized technological firms to increase their uses of Technopark for product innovation and development. To determine whether interest exists, a research model was built, based upon the innovative process that small and medium sized enterprises'experience when developing capabilities. The model was characterized by its entrepreneurial orientation, organizational culture and support of the Technopark. Small and medium-sized technological firms operating in Technopark were surveyed in the Fall of 2019. Responses were collected and analyzed using structural equation modeling. Among the findings: supporting greater uses of Technopark can impact a firm's performance positively by mediating new product development capabilities. Firms with relatively limited resources and capabilities are most likely to benefit from using regional innovation hubs such as Technopark to improve their innovative capabilities and performance. Government and Technopark need to develop and implement demand-based support programs, especially ones to focus on improving the innovation capabilities of technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises.

An Effect of a Company's Organizational Orientation and R&D Capability on the Success of New Products/Services (기업의 조직지향성과 연구개발능력이 신제품/서비스 성공에 미치는 영향연구)

  • Variables such as R&D capability and organizational orientation have been dealt with in previous studies on factors that affect the success of new products/services in technology-based companies, but there have been few studies examining the causal relationship of these variables from an integrated perspective. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of the organizational orientation and R&D capability of technology-based SMEs, consisting of customer orientation, innovation orientation, and competitor orientation, on the success of new products/services. In addition, we want to analyze the influence of a company's product/service competitiveness on the success of new products/services. The survey was commissioned by a research company, and 382 valid copies were analyzed by conducting a survey to corporate members in the technical job-related industry. The questionnaire analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0 and Smart PLS 3.0.Customer orientation, innovation orientation, and competitor orientation were found to have a positive effect on product/service competitiveness. It can be said that market changes in product/service competitiveness, technology improvement capability, target market analysis, etc. meet the objectives of most research projects, such as the success of new products/services. In addition, product/service competitiveness was found to have a positive effect on the success of new products/services. It can be seen that R&D capability has a positive effect on the success of new products/services and plays an important role in business expansion of SMEs. From this analysis result, it was found that the organizational orientation and R&D capability of a company have a positive effect on the success of new products/services. Based on the results of this study, implications were presented on the factors that a company must have for the success of new products/services.

A study on Jewelry Design using Alternative Gem: Focused on Jewelery Design Research Trends and Customer Preference (보석 대체품을 활용한 주얼리 디자인 연구: 주얼리 디자인 연구 동향 및 고객 선호도를 중심으로)

  • This study is to propose a alternative gem that is expressed in various ways instead of jewelry with limited output. It was investigated what materials were used in the alternative gem used in the jewelry design thesis over the past five years. In addition, as a result of a survey to understand the needs of customers, it was found that customers also use resin among resins as an alternative gem, like as research trends. Based on this, the scope of resin use as a alternative gem was expanded and applied to jewelry design rather than the existing method of using resin. As a result, it was found out a various uses of resin as an alternative gem. However, the demand and traditionality that correspond to the conditions of jewelry remain challenges to be established through various jewelry design studies in the future. Therefore, in order to utilize the popular preference of alternative gem, continuous research on applying jewelry design to alternative gem should be continued.
