We report a case of an 86-year-old man diagnosed with bilateral elastofibroma dorsi who was managed conservatively after a two year follow-up. An elastofibroma dorsi is a benign, slow-growing tumor that is most often located in the inferior periscapular area in elderly patients. It should be considered to differentiate them from other soft tissue tumors located at the inferior periscapular region. Increased awareness of these characteristics will decrease the incidence of a misdiagnosis of elastofibroma dorsi as a malignancy and avoid unnecessary surgery.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a relatively common inherited disorder characterized by the formation of neurofibromas, pigmentary abnormalities of the skin, Lisch nodules of the iris, and skeletal abnormalities. Multiple cutaneous neurofibromas are benign nerve sheath tumors and the main manifestation of NF1. Cardiac neurofibroma associated with NF1 is very rare, and few cases have been reported in the literature. Herein, we present the CT and MRI findings of a surgically confirmed left ventricular neurofibroma in a 32-year-old female with NF1.

꼬리명주나비(서ericinus montela) 조혈기관의 분포 및 미세구조를 광학현미경과 투과전자현미경을 이용하여 관찰하였다. 꼬리명주나비의 조혈기관은 흉부 제 2 · 3체절의 날개발생부위(imaginal wing disc)에 부착되었거나 인접해 있었다 각각의 조혈기관은 비세포성 기저 막으로 둘러싸인 여러 개의 조혈섬으로 구성되어 있었으며, 조혈 섬들은 compact islet(치밀하게 배열된 조혈섬)과 loose islet(느슨하게 배열된 조혈섬)으로 구분되었다. 혈구의 분화는 loose islet 내에서 진행되었으며, 시원세포로부터 원시혈구. 부정형혈구, 과립혈구, 소구혈구가 독자적 경로를 통해 분화되었다.

제주도는 한반도의 서남해상에 위치하며 제주도와 그 부속도서 및 추자군도로 이루어진 우리 나라에서 가장 큰 섬이다. 북으로는 목포와 약 88마일의 거리이고 부산과는 동북쪽으로 약 170마일의 거리이다. 제주도는 동서 최대길이 73km이며 남북의 최대길이는 41km로서 타원형이며 섬 전체가 용암으로 이루어져 있다. 한라산은 1,950m로서 섬의 중심부에 우뚝 서 있다. 경사는 남쪽이 북쪽에 비해 비교적 급하고 평야는 서남 해안 쪽에 발달하였다. (중략)

본 논문에서는 서로 다른 진화 전략의 병렬화를 구현하기 위해 섬 모델을 도입하고 자원 간의 균형을 유지하기 위해 Monod 모델을 활용하는 PDE-EM이라는 생태 모델 알고리즘을 기반으로 한 새로운 병렬 DE를 제안하도록 한다. 각 섬은 동일한 자원으로 서로 다른 전략으로 진화한다. 지정된 세대 수마다 섬의 진화 정도에 따라 등급이 매겨지고, Monod 모델을 활용하여 각 섬에 다양한 자원이 할당된다.

This report presents a unique case of Caplan syndrome that mimicked accelerated progressive massive fibrosis. The patient, a former coal miner, had been diagnosed with coal worker's pneumoconiosis 15 years prior and had been treated for rheumatoid arthritis for over 20 years. Accelerated progressive massive fibrosis and the development of multiple nodules with cavitation in the basal lungs were subsequently observed on serial CT scans. Here, the CT manifestations of Caplan syndrome are highlighted in a case in which Caplan syndrome mimicked accelerated progressive massive fibrosis.

이미 10여년 전의 일이지만 공항 관제사와 조종사간의 의사소통에 문제가 있어 항공기 충돌사고를 야기한 일이 있었다. 대서양 한가운데 있는 스페인령 카나리아군도는 7개 섬으로 되어 있는데 그중 주섬인 그랑 카나리아 섬에는 라스팔마스라는 어업기지와 휴양지가 있다.

인천광역시 북서부에 위치한 강화군은 한국에서 다섯 번째로 큰 섬인 강화도가 있다. 사면이 바다로 둘러싸인 섬으로 그곳에 위치한 우성한우농장을 방문하여 강화도의 바닷바람으로 키우고 있는 박종덕 대표의 한우들을 보고 왔다.

In order to compare the lead and cadmium levels, studies of heavy metal accumulation of feral pigeons from rural (Deokjeok island), central urban (Seoul city), and industrial complexes (Ansan, Busan, Ulsan, and Yochon) were conducted. The outstanding result of this study is that feral pigeons in urban and industrial complex areas contain high Pb and Cd concentrations in kidney, bone, liver, and lung tissues compared to those of rural areas. Such a trend was prominent in the target organs, bone and kidney, about 10 times greater than in rural areas. On the other hand, the lead levels of the Yochon Industrial Complex were noticeably lower than those of other industrial complex areas. Not only feral pigeons habit of street and ground feeding, but also atmospheric metal concentration offers an explanation for the heavy metal concentration differences in the study areas.
