Calcific tendinitis of rotator cuff is a common disease which could be the cause of shoulder pain, and frequently occurs in supraspinatus, infraspinatus and teres minor in descending order. Calcific tendinitis of subscapularis is rare and arthroscopic treatment of that has also been rarely reported. So, we report a case of arthroscopic treatment of calcific tendinitis of subscapularis with excellent result.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficiency of needling and injection technique without steroid for symptomatic calcific tendinitis of the shoulder. Material and Methods: We chose 12 symptomatic calcific tendinitis patients, whose ages ranged from 35 to 64. Procedure ware dry needling and injection of prolotherapic agent near the lesion. Results: All the case revealed prominent improvement without limitation of shoulder function, especially in active painful stage. Conclusion: Sonographic injection technique for calcific tendinitis would be one of the good modality not only for symptomatic relieve but also good functional recovery.

Purpose: We report here on two cases of calcific tendinitis at the origin of the common extensor tendons of the forearm. Materials and Methods: A 42 year-old female complained of left elbow pain and flexion contracture. After obtaining the simple radiographs and MRI, surgical excision of the calcific deposits was done under the diagnosis of calcific tendinitis. A 25 year-old female complained of right elbow pain and a limited range of motion. Simple radiographs showed a calcific deposit just distal to the lateral epicondyle, and then she was managed with extracorporeal shock wave therapy. Results: The pain disappeared completely and both patients regained a full range of motion after treatments. Conclusion: Calcific tendinitis at the origin of the common extensor tendons of the forearm should be included in the differential diagnosis of the lateral elbow diseases that cause pain and a limited range of motion.

Calcific tendinitis is characterized by inflammation around calcium hydroxyapatite crystal deposits. Minimally invasive extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has been postulated to be an effective treatment option for treating calcific tendinitis. In clinical practice, shock waves usually are aimed at the painful area after palpation and not focused. It has been known that exact fluoroscopic focusing of ESWT at the calcific deposit for treatment of calcifying tendinopathy is highly effective. Ultrasound is a simple, inexpensive and radiation-free diagnostic tool that has been used to demonstrate tendinopathy including calcific tendinitis. However, focusing of shock wave under ultrasound is less well established. We present a patient in whom large calcific tendinitis of gluteus medius was completely resolved by exact focusing of ESWT by ultrasound with literature review.

Although calcific tendinitis around hip joint is a rare condition, patients with symptomatic calcific tendinitis serve very severe pain and are disturbed their daily activities. We report four calcific tendinitis patients who had acute pain around the hip with limitation of motion of the joint and were treated with ultrasonography-guided multiple needling with dramatic pain relief.

Most of the caicific tendinitis have been reported to be found on the rotator cuff, in particularly on supraspinatus. We reported a case of calcific tendinitis on the posterosuperior glenoid labrum. The location of the lesion was diagnosed accurately by the MRI and easily removed the lesion with arthroscopic surgery and got satisfactory results.
