Performance evaluations of a link state update mechanism considering traffic variation (트래픽 변화를 고려한 링크 상태 업데이트 알고리즘의 성능 분석)

  • To guarantee QoS (Quality of Service), routers should determine routing paths satisfying service requirements, based on link state information as well as network topology. Link status database (LSD) in routers should be efficiently managed to effectively reflect the current state of all links. However, there is a trade off between the exact reflection of the current link status and its update cost. For exactly reflecting the current link status, each router immediately notifies its neighbors that link state information is changed. This may degrade performance of the router due to the processing of link state update messages. On the other side, if the current link state information is not updated appropriately, a route setup request can be rejected because of the discrepancy between the current link state information and previously updated link state information in LSD. In this paper, we propose a traffic variation based link state update algorithm for adaptively controlling the generation of link state update messages and compare its performance with those of four existing algorithms by intensive simulations.

  • The QoS(Quality of Service) guarantee mechanism is one of critical issues in the wireless network. Real-time applications like VoIP(Voice over IP) in All-IP networks need smooth handoffs in order to minimize or eliminate packet loss as a Mobile Host(MH) transitions between network links. In this paper, we design a new multicasting algorithm using DB(Dynamic Buffering) mechanism for Mobile-IPv6. A key feature of the new protocol is the concepts of the DB and MRA(Multicast Routing Agent) to reduce delivery path length of the multicast datagram. Particularly, the number of tunneling and average routing length of datagram are reduced relatively, the multicast traffic load is also decreased.

  • 본 논문에서는 ACE2000 MPLS 시스템의 핵심 응용 기능으로 개발된 BGP/MPLS VPN의 기능블럭 구성과 주요 특성을 기술하였다. BGP/MPLS VPN은 VPN사이트들간을 MPLS LSP를 이용하여 터널링시키는 서비스로서 VPN 사이트들에 대한 라우팅 정보가 BGP4 확장 프로토콜을 이용해서 전달되고, VPN 사이트간의 트래픽은 MPLSLSP를 통해서 전달된다. ACE2000 BGP/MPLS VPN은 품질의 차별적 지원이 가능하고 확장성이 뛰어난 구조로 개발되었다.

  • 차세대 인터넷에서 DiffServ 네트워크는 서비스 품질(QoS: Quality of Service) 제공을 위한 확장성이 높은 구조를 제시하고 있다. 차세대 네트워크에서는 음성이나 비디오 전송 같은 많은 응용들을 지원하기 위하여 QoS 보장 서비스가 필요하다. 차세대 인터넷에서 QoS 제공을 위하여 RSVP(Resource Reservation Protocol), MPLS(Multi-Protocol Label Switching), DiffServ 및 QoS 라우팅 등의 기법이 개발되고 표준화되고 있다. 원격 교육 역시 주로 인터넷이 주도하고 있다는 면에서는 QoS의 문제를 피해 갈 수 없는 것이다. 그러나, 국내에서는 이러한 QoS 능력을 안전하게 제공하기 위한 기법에 대한 연구가 거의 없는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 QoS를 안전하게 제공하기 위한 보안 기법을 DiffServ 네트워크를 중심으로 제시하고 원격교육에 적용시의 문제들을 고려하고자 한다.

  • Differentiated Services (DiffServ) is a technique to provide Quality of Service (QoS) in an efficient and scalable way. However, current DiffServ specifications have limitations in providing the complete QoS management framework and its implementation model. This paper proposes a policy-based QoS management model that supports DiffServ policies for managing QoS of DiffServ networks. The management model conforms to Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture, and is based on Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs) technologies. In our model, high-level DiffServ QoS policies are represented as valid XML documents with an XML Schema and are translated to low-level EJB policy beans in the EJB-based policy server. The routing topology and role information required to define QoS policies is discovered by using SNMP MIB-II, and the QoS policy distribution and monitoring is accomplished by using SNMP DiffServ MIB.

  • The Internet is recently evolving into the directions which is capable of incorporating stream-type services such as voice and video services. However, the existing Internet can only support a best-effort delivery model and thus it is difficult to satisfy these requirements as well as to provide the QoS beyond a certain degree. Accordingly, it is imperative to develop QoS based routing algorithm in order to allow the routing by the user's QoS demand and to be applied into wide area networks. In this thesis, we presented new routing algorithms and made performance evaluations. The proposed algorithms allow the routing by the user’s QoS demand level in order to provide the diverse Internet application services based on ATM network environment that is expected to play a role as an infrastructure of high-speed communication network. They also have a feature of shortening the waiting time for address analysis and have a quality-proven characteristics with enhanced network scalability.

  • The advancement of cloud and big data and the considerable growth of traffic have increased the complexity and problems in the management inefficiency of existing networks. The software-defined networking (SDN) environment has been developed to solve this problem. SDN enables us to control network equipment through programming by separating the transmission and control functions of the equipment. Accordingly, several studies have been conducted to improve the performance of SDN controllers, such as the method of connecting existing legacy equipment with SDN, the packet management method for efficient data communication, and the method of distributing controller load in a centralized architecture. However, there is insufficient research on the control of SDN in terms of the quality of network-using applications. To support the establishment and change of the routing paths that meet the required network service quality, we require a mechanism to identify network requirements based on a contract for application network service quality and to collect information about the current network status and identify the violations of network service quality. This study proposes a method of identifying the quality violations of network paths through ontology to ensure the network service quality of applications and provide efficient services in an SDN environment.

  • 오늘날 인터넷을 통한 모든 통신망이 끊임없이 발전하고 있는 가운데 IPv4가 가지는 문제점들이 치명적인 위협으로 대두되고 있다. 따라서, 폭발적인 인터넷 사용자 증가로 인한 IP address의 고갈과 느려져만 가는 인터넷 속도에 대해 대안이 필요하다. IPv4는 32bit 체계로 약 40억 개의 IP 주소를 가지고 있으나, 인터넷 초기의 무분별한 클래스를 사용하여 40억 개보다 적은 양의 주소를 사용 할 수 있게 되었다. IPv6는 128bit의 주소 체계를 가지고 있으며, 3.4 $10^{38}$개의, 천문학적인 주소를 할당 할 수 있으며, 보안성과 서비스 품질보장(QoS), 이동성 기존의 인터넷 속도의 가속 기능 등 다양한 장정들을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 IPv4에서 IPv6로 진화해 가야 하는 시기적인 요소보다는 IPv6로의 공존해 나아가야 하는 기술적인 문제를 극복하기 위해 기존 IPv4망에서 IPv6 주소체계를 지원할 수 있도록 설계하고 Backbone network 구성에 일반적인 구현을 통하여 IGP와 EGP 구간의 라우팅 정보공유에 대하여 논의한다.

  • IP 네트워크를 통해 전송되는 실시간 스트라밍은 네트워크 상태에 따라 데이터 손실 및 전송 지연의 문제가 발생 할 수 있다. 이에 멀티미디어 네트워킹 애플리케이션은 RTP(Realtime Transport Protocol)와 RTCP(RTP Control Protocol)를 지원하는 RTSP(Realtime Streaming Protocol)를 사용한다. RTSP를 사용하는 송신단은 패킷 손실과 전송지연이 발생할 경우 끊김 없는 멀티미디어 스티리밍을 제공하기 위해 네트워크 상태에 따라 전송률을 변경한다. 하지만 전송률이 낮아지면 멀티미디어 품질이 떨어지게 된다. 만약 짧은 시간 동안 전송률이 빈번하게 변경된다면 일관성 있는 품질의 서비스를 제공하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 SDN 환경에서 실시간 스트리밍을 효과적으로 제어하기 위해 중앙 컨트롤러가 RTCP를 수신하고 송신단의 전송률과 현재 링크의 가용 전송율을 추정한다. 추정된 가용 전송율이 송신단의 전송률보다 낮다며 각 스위치의 활성화된 플로우 엔트리가 낮은 스위치로 라우팅 경로를 선택하는 메커니즘을 제안한다.

A Routing Scheme Considering Bottleneck and Route Link Quality in RPL-based IoT Wireless Networks (RPL 기반 IoT 무선 네트워크에서 노드 병목 및 전송 경로 품질을 고려한 라우팅 기법)

  • In order to manage a large number of devices connected to the Internet of Things (IoT), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) proposed the IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL). The route of the RPL network is generated through the use of an Objective Function (OF) that is suitable for the service that is required for the IoT network. Since the route of the RPL network is conventionally simply chosen only by considering the link quality between the nodes, it is sensible to seek an OF that can also provide better Quality of Service (QoS). In previous studies, the end-to-end delay might possibly be sub-optimal because they only deal with problems related to the reduction of energy consumption and not to the link quality on the path to the sink node. In this study, we propose a scheme that reduces the end-to-end delay but also gives full consideration to both the quality on the entire route to the destination and to the expected lifetime of nodes with bottlenecks from heaped traffic. Weighting factors for the proposed scheme are chosen by experiments and the proposed scheme can reduce the end-to-end delay and the energy consumption of previous studies by 20.8% and 10.5%, respectively.
