A Study of Color Video Coding Using Adaptive Wavelet Transform (적응적 웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 컬러 비디오 영상 코딩에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 적응적인 웨이블릿 변환에 기초한 저속 비트율 비디오 코딩 방법의 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 접근 방법은 양자화된 웨이블릿 계수들이 웨이블릿 서브밴드 구조내에서 중복성을 활용하는 메커니즘에 의해서 전처리 된다면 코딩 절차가 더욱 효과적으로 나타난다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 코딩부분의 최적화 활동에 초점을 맞추어 완전한 중복 블록 움직임 보상된 에어프레임에서 일치를 확보하기 위해 이용하고, 향상된 코사인 윈도우를 적용하였다. 또한 웨이블릿 변환은 각 일치한 움직임 보상된 에러 프레임을 전체적인 에너지 컴팩션에 도달하도록 적용된다. 움직임 벡터의 수평적, 수직적 컴포넌트는 적응적 산술적 코딩을 사용하여 독립적으로 인코드되는 반면에 의미있는 웨이블릿 계수는 적응적 산술 코딩을 사용함에 의해서 비트-플레인 순서로 인코드된다. 제안된 부호기는 28Kbits에서 PSNR이 평균적으로 각각 대략 2.07과 1.38dB에 존재하는 H.263과 ZTE를 초과한다. 전체순서 코딩에 대하여도 3DWCVC 방법은 평균적으로 각각 0.35와 0.71dB을 나타내는 H.263과 ZTE보다 우수한 성능을 보인다.

Subsurface Scattering for Realistic Point-based Rendering (사실적인 포인트 기반 렌더링을 위한 서브서피스 스캐터링 방법)

  • Point-based rendering has gained much attention as an alternative to polygon-based rendering because of its simplicity and flexibility. However, current point-based rendering techniques do not provide a sufficient rendering quality for translucent materials such as human skin. In this paper, we propose a point-based rendering framework with subsurface scattering of light, which is important to create the soft and semi-translucent appearance of human skin. To accurately simulate subsurface scattering in multi-layer materials, we present splat-based diffusion to apply a linear combination of several Gaussian basis functions to each splat in object space. Compared to existing point-based approaches, our method offers a significantly improved visual quality in rendering human faces.

  • 유비쿼터스 환경에서는 서비스 사용자가 언제, 어디서나 모든 서비스를 사용할 수 있어야 한다. 즉, 디바이스나 서비스의 상태, 위치 정보 등 특성에 관계 없이 동질의 서비스를 제공해야 한다. 이를 위해 산재한 이질적인 서브네트워크의 상호운용성을 위한 다양한 분산 시스템의 네트워크 프로토콜과 디바이스간의 통신을 통합하기 위한 연구가 필요하다. 서브네트워크의 상호운용성을 위해서는 메시지 전송 및 변환 기능이 요구되며, 서브네트워크의 변화를 동적으로 감지하여 서비스 사용자에게 알려주어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 유비쿼터스 웹서비스를 지원하기 위한 Web Services on Universal Networks를 제안하였다. 제안하는 WSUN은 Universal Service Broker의 프레임워크를 통해 SOA 기반으로 접근하고 있으며 요구 사항을 정의하여 필요한 구성 요소에 대한 설계하였다. 또한, 동적인 서비스 검색을 위한 Universal Service Registry를 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 DPWS의 동작 시나리오를 통해 이질적인 서브네트워크의 상호운용성을 지원하기 위한 DPWS 어댑터를 설계한다.

Analysis of Vibration Characteristics of a Full Vehicle Model Using Substructure Synthesis Method (부분구조합성법을 이용한 전차량 모델의 진동 특성 분석)

  • The finite element (FE) method is generally used to model and simulate the physical behavior of large structures, such as passenger vehicles or aircraft. However, FE analysis involves a very large computation time and cost for developing the analysis model. Therefore, the vibration characteristics of large structural systems are often analyzed using the component mode synthesis (CMS) method, which is one of the substructure synthesis methods. In this study, the vibration characteristics of passenger vehicles are analyzed by using the substructure synthesis method. A passenger vehicle model, which includes a vehicle body, suspension systems, and a sub-frame, is presented. The physical components of the vehicle system are modeled as equivalent substructures using the Craig-Bampton method of CMS. The vibration characteristics, such as the natural frequencies and mode shapes and frequency response, of the vehicle system are determined. The effects of variations in some design parameters on the vibration characteristics of the full vehicle model are also investigated.

Light-weight Design of Automotive AA6061 Rear Sub-frame Based on CAE Simulation (CAE 해석을 이용한 자동차용 AA6061 리어 서브-프레임의 경량화 설계)

  • It is well known that the targeted fuel efficiency could only be achieved by more than 40% reduction of the vehicle weight through improved design and extensive utilization of lightweight materials. In order to obtain the goal of the weight reduction of automobiles, the researches about lighter and stronger rear sub-frame have been studied without sacrificing the safety of rear sub-frame. In this study, the weight reduction design process of rear sub-frame could be proposed based on the variation of von-Mises stress contour by substituting an AA6061 (aluminum 6061 alloy) having tensile strength of 310 MPa grade instead of SAPH440 steels. In addition, the stress ratio variations (stress over fatigue limit) of the rear sub-frame were examined and compared carefully. It could be reached that this approach method could be well established and be contributed for light-weight design guide and the optimum design conditions of the automotive rear sub-frame development.

IEEE 802.16 WMAN MAC Protocol for the Coexistence with WLAN in Shared Bands (공유대역에서 무선 LAN과의 공존을 위한 IEEE 802.16 WMAN의 MAC 프로토콜)

  • In this paper, we propose to modify the IEEE 802.16 MAC protocol in order to allow the coexistence of IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.16 wireless networks in shared bands. Our suggested protocol enables 802.16 WMAN to control WLAN devices for the coexistence. That is, in the downlink subframes(BS to SS), SS(Subscriber Station) prohibits WLAN to transmit by using CTS(Clear to Send) in order to protect it's burst. In the uplink subframes(SS to BS), on the other hand, BS(Base Station) sends CTS to block WLAN's communications. Our proposals enables the coexistence between WLAN and WMAN, and simulation results show that our protocols enhance the throughput of the entire system.

Audio Forensic Marking using Psychoacoustic Model II and MDCT (심리음향 모델 II와 MDCT를 이용한 오디오 포렌식 마킹)

  • In this paper, the forensic marking algorithm is proposed using psychoacoustic model II and MDCT for high-quality audio. The proposed forensic marking method, that inserts the user fingerprinting code of the audio content into the selected sub-band, in which audio signal energy is lower than the spectrum masking level. In the range of the one frame which has 2,048 samples for FFT of original audio signal, the audio forensic marking is processed in 3 sub-bands. According to the average attack of the fingerprinting codes, one frame's SNR is measured on 100% trace ratio of the collusion codes. When the lower strength 0.1 of the inserted fingerprinting code, SNR is 38.44dB. And in case, the added strength 0.5 of white gaussian noise, SNR is 19.09dB. As a result, it confirms that the proposed audio forensic marking algorithm is maintained the marking robustness of the fingerprinting code and the audio high-quality.

Hydro-forming Process Control and Design Concept of Automotive Rear Sub-frame Components Through Cross Sectional Analysis (단면 분석을 통한 자동차용 리어 서브-프레임 하이드로포밍 부품의 공정 제어 및 설계)

  • Hydro-forming technology has spread dramatically throughout automotive industry over the last 20 years. This technology has many advantages for automotive applications in terms of better structural integrity of the parts, lower cost from fewer parts, material savings, weight reduction, lower springback, improved strength, durability, and design flexibility. In this study, various simulation technologies were developed to investigate the formability of hydro-forming components. Through this technology, to establish the effective forming process for appropriate components design, the bending process, pre-forming process, die closing process, etc. were considered for good forming. This paper proposes the forming amount, section length (corresponding to the hydro-forming press capacity), and minimum curvature (curvature effect evaluation according to the hydro-forming pressure) among the considerations in the design of the hydro-forming part. In addition, a design method is proposed for hydro-forming molding by carrying out cross section analysis of a real sub-frame part for automobiles. The effects of pre-bending, axial feed, hydraulic pressure, press load, and friction among the hydro-forming process parameters were analyzed. Therefore, whether these processes are necessary factors for hydro-forming were examined.

  • The hydroforming technology has been spreaded dramatically in automotive industry last 10 years. Itmay cause many advantages to automotive applications in terms of better structural integrity of the parts, lower cost from fewer part count, material saving, weight reduction, lower springback, improved strength and durability and design flexibility. In this study, the whole process of rear sub-frame parts development by tube hydroforming using steel material having tensile strength of 440MPa grade is presented. At the part design stage, it requires feasibility study and process design aided by CAE (Computer Aided Design) to confirm hydroformability in details. Effects of parameters such as internal pressure, axial feeding and geometry shape in automotive rear sub-frame by hydroforming process were carefully investigated. Overall possibility of hydroformable sub-frame parts could be examined by cross sectional analyses. Moreover, it is essential to ensure the formability of tube material on every forming step such as pre-bending, preforming and hydroforming. In addition, all the components of prototyping tool are designed and interference with press is examined from the point of geometry and thinning.

Design of Advanced PCM Encoder Architecture for Efficient Channel Information Memory Management (효율적인 채널 정보 메모리 관리를 위한 PCM 엔코더 설계)

  • Telemetry system is a system that transmits status information data acquired from the aircraft to the ground station. PCM encoder needs memory to store channel information in order to generate a frame format using the acquired data. Generally, telemetry systems in large aircraft require much larger memory for the increased acquisition channel information due to the increased sensors and subsystems. However, they have difficulty to store all channel information in limited memory. In this paper, we suggests and implements an advanced PCM encoder that can efficiently manage memory by minimizing duplicated channel information. This novel PCM encoder allocates duplicated channel information to memory only once. And, sub commutation channels having different information for each minor frame are allocated to the memory by multiples of sub commutation channels. Finally, the suggested PCM encoder was proved by simulation that composed channels of various measurement cycles.
