Analysis of Factors That Cause Light Pollution in Islands in Dadohaehaesang National Park (다도해해상국립공원 내 섬 지역의 빛공해 유발 요인 분석)

  • Light pollution is one of the factors that disturb coastal and island ecosystems. This study examined the factors causing light pollution in the islands in Daedohaehaesang National Park using nighttime satellite images. This study selected 101 islands with an area of 100,000 m2 or more in Daedohaehaesang National Park, and measured the levels of light pollution of the selected islands by calculating mean nighttime radiance recorded in VIIRS DNB monthly images for January, April, August, and October 2019. Of seven districts of the park, The highest mean nighttime radiance was recorded in Geumodo district (17,666nW/m2/sr), followed by Geonumdo·Baekdo, Narodo, Soando·Cheongsando districts. By season, mean nighttime radiance in October was the highest at 9,509nW/m2/sr, followed by August, January, and April. Regression analyses show that the total floor area and the number of lighthouses in a 5 km buffer area had a statistically significant effect on mean nighttime radiance at all times, but those within the island did not, indicating that light pollution in islands in a national park where land development is strictly restricted is influenced by artificial lights in nearby areas. However, the total floor area of an island significantly affected mean nighttime radiance only in August, which appears to be attributed to the impact of intensive use of artificial light by visitors during summer vacation. The size of an island had a negative (-) effect on nighttime radiance. This negative effect suggests that light pollution is a type of ecological edge effect, i.e., the smaller island is more likely to have a relatively larger proportion of edge area that is affected by light emitted from the neighboring areas. The results of this study indicate that managing artificial lights in nearby areas is necessary to mitigate light pollution in islands in marine and coastal national parks.

  • 유역단위 오염부하량 산정에는 SWAT, HSPF 등의 물리적 매개변수 기반 분포형 모형이 주로 사용되고 있으나, 공간분포형 입력자료로 인한 많은 매개변수는 모의 과정을 복잡하게 하며, 보정 과정에 있어 많은 시간과 노력을 요구하는 단점이 있다. 이로 인해 실무에서는 원단위법이나 유량-부하량 관계식과 같은 통계적 분석에 의한 회귀식이 주로 사용되고 있다. 그 중 LOADEST는 회귀식 기반 프로그램으로, 다양한 연구자들에 의해 연구되고 있으나, 수질 모형과의 모의능력을 비교하는 연구는 부족하다. 본 연구에서는 청미천 상류유역을 대상으로 유역특성에 따른 LOADEST 기반 회귀식의 매개변수를 추정하여 오염부하량을 모의하고, SWAT 모형에 의한 오염부하량 모의결과와 비교 평가하고자 한다. 모형의 구동 및 회귀식 매개변수 추정에 필요한 입력 자료는 용인시 백암면 일대에서 2013년부터 2015년까지 모니터링한 수질, 유량 및 기상자료와 지형자료 (토지이용도, 토양도, 수치표고자료)를 이용하여 구축하였다. LOADEST 기반 회귀식의 매개 변수 추정은 김계웅 (2015)이 개발한 방법을 사용하였으며, 유역면적, 토지이용비율 등은 지형자료를 이용하여 산정하였다. SWAT 모형의 보정은 2013년부터 2014년까지의 자료를 이용하였으며, 2015년 자료를 이용하여 검정하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 비점오염원 모델에 대한 이해를 넓히고, 오염부하량 모의를 위한 모형 선정에 있어 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • A Pinus densiflora forest in Chuwangsan was studied to determine the adequate plot area of shrub stratum for investigating forest community structure. Nineteen nested plots were set up in the studied forest, and species-area curve and performance curve were established. According to species-area curve, the minimum plot area where a given percentage increase in plot area produced less than the same percentage increase in number of species was 900$m^2$. The minimum plot area where a given percentage increase in plot area produced less than the half of the percent-age increase in number of species was 1,500$m^2$. According to performance curve of the importance values of the major species, the minimum plot area where the importance value of the major species was distinguished from each other was 1,400$m^2$. According to performance curve of species diversity, the minimum plot area was 750-1,500$m^2$. Similarity indices between plot area above 900$m^2$ and total plot area were more than 90% and similarity indices between plot area above 625$m^2$ and total plot area were more than 85%. It may be given as a conclusion that minimum plot area was about 1,500$m^2$ in case of requiring more accuracy.

Evaluation of the Economic Value of Potential Ecosystem Services of Unexecuted Urban Planning Facilities - Focused on Urban Green Spaces and Urban Forests in Seoul - (미집행 도시계획시설의 잠재적 생태계 서비스 가치평가 - 서울시 공원 및 녹지를 중심으로 -)

  • According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, the total area of unexecuted urban planning facilities in Korea is about $1,257km^2$, of which 47% is the unexecuted urban green space and forests. In the case of Seoul, the total area of unexecuted urban planning facilities is about $66km^2$, which is 5.24% of the total unexecuted area in the entire country. In Seoul, approximately 88% of the total unexecuted area is urban green space and forests, which is higher than the national rate. About 92% of the unexecuted urban planning facilities are long-term unexecuted urban planning facilities that are more than 10 years old. This study assessed the economic value of potential ecosystem services, focusing on the regulation service, supporting service, and cultural service, for urban green space and forests of unexecuted urban planning facilities in Seoul by using meta-regression analysis. As a result, the value of the regulation service provided by the urban green space and forests in Seoul was about 16.39 billion KRW, the value of the supporting service was about 5.8 billion KRW, and the cultural service value was about 7.78 billion KRW. The total value of ecosystem services is about 33.93 billion KRW. The values of regulation service and cultural service were the highest, and that was attributed to the characteristics of the downtown area. The significance of this study is to evaluate the value of ecosystem services for unexecuted urban planning facilities in Seoul. The results of this study can be used not only in the process of urban planning or policymaking but also land compensation methods applying the concept of an ecosystem service payment system.

수종 목본식물의 개엽 특성에 관한 연구

  • A study was conducted to examine the leaf expansion forms and to analyze the leaf growth in early growing season of 1992 in a temperate deciduous forest in central region of Korea. After the winter bud scale fell off, the expansion forms of 11 woody species were divided into 3 groups, spreading fan form, opening form from half folding, and unrolling form from main vein. The ratios of leaf area at the end of growing season to that of leaf expantion time varied among species, and were related closely to expansion forms. The leaves reached to full size between the third ten days of April and the middle ten days of May, except for a few species. Leaf weight, however, increased steadily during the growing season. Specific leaf area (SLA) increased rapidly for 10-20 days after leaf expansion and decreased rapidly for 10 days after reaching maximum values, and thereafter decreased slowly. The SLA values of trees were smaller than $200cm^2/g$, but those of subtree and shrub were larger than $200cm^2/g$.

  • 하천복원 또는 서식환경조성에 있어서 흐름영역을 통한 하천생태계 서식처 공간의 조성은 매우 중요하며 최적서식공간을 조성하기 위한 공간 확보 및 복원의 기술은 가장 중요하게 개발해야할 대상이다. 본 연구에서는 공간 확대에 따른 수환경 변화가 어류 물리서식처에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 2차원 물리서식처 모형인 River2D를 적용하였다. River2D의 구동에 필요한 지형데이터는 만경강 유역의 봉동, 소양, 하리 3개의 지점을 경계지점으로 하여 대상영역 내 저지대 상습 침수구역인 만경강 본류와 소양천 합류지점을 복원대상지로 선정 후, 이 구역의 현재하도(공간복원전)와 합류부에서 제방을 없애 공간을 확보한(공간 복원후) 하도의 지형을 구축하였다. 그리고 과거 만경강 봉동일대에서 출현하였던 감돌고기를 대상어종으로 하여 감돌고기에 대한 생애주기별 서식처 적합도 지수(HSC)를 산정한 결과를 분석에 이용하였고, 유황조건은 IHA를 이용하여 산정된 5가지 유황조건을 경계조건으로 하여 분석을 실시하였다. 가중가용면적-유량관계곡선의 도출을 통해서 최적유량 산정시 중요한 지표인 WUA의 산정결과 현재 하천공간보다 공간 복원후 하천공간이 더 많은 가중가용면적을 확보하고 있음을 알 수 있고 동일한 유황의 조건에서 하천공간의 확보 및 복원을 통해 최소유량의 최대서식처 개선효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 공간복원 후에 감돌고기에 대한 최대 가중가용면적은 20.4% 증가하였고, 최적유량변동은 20m3(57.1%) 저감하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 감돌고기의 생애주기별 복합서식처 적합도 분포결과는 복원후 전체 공간분포 중 소양천 합류부 및 복원 홍수터에서 서식처 적합도의 공간분포가 높게 나타났고 가중가용면적도 복원후 산란기(4~6월)에 57.7%, 성장기(7~8월)에 6.0%, 성어기(9~11월)에 41.9%로 가중가용 면적이 증가하였으며, 특히 산란기와 성어기의 가중가용면적이 하천공간 확보를 통해 크게 증가되었다. 이러한 결과들을 바탕으로 수생태계에서 하천어류의 서식환경을 보호하고 유지하기 위해서 적절한 서식공간의 확보가 선행되어야 하며 복원사업에 따른 제방제거 및 하상변동으로 발생하는 유속의 변화로 인한 다양한 영향을 충분히 검토하여야 할 것으로 판단된다.

Adsorption characteristics of Pb by various particle sizes of microplastics in aqueous solution (수용액에서 입자크기에 따른 미세플라스틱의 Pb 흡착특성)

  • 미세플라스틱은 입자크기가 5 mm 이하인 플라스틱으로 정의되며, 수계로 유입된 미세플라스틱은 내분비계 교란물질로 작용하여 생태계에 환경독성을 유발하고 오염물질을 흡착·운반할 수 있는 독성 물질의 매개체로서 미세플라스틱의 위해성에 대한 우려가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 수용액에서 다양한 미세플라스틱의 납(Pb) 흡착특성을 평가하고 미세플라스틱의 비표면적에 따른 흡착 효과를 비교하고자 하였다. 플라스틱 종류 중 HDPE (High-density Polyethylene)와 PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)를 각각 세 가지 크기(Group 1: 2.5 mm - 1.0 mm, Group 2: 1.0 mm - 0.3 mm, Group 3: < 0.3 mm)로 제조하여 분류하였으며, 미세플라스틱 입자크기의 비표면적은 BET(Brunauer, Emmett, Teller)분석을 통하여 측정하였다. 담수환경 조성을 위해 pH 7로 조절한 Pb 용액의 농도(0, 0.5, 1, 5, 10, 30 mg/L)별 흡착실험을 수행하였으며 실험결과를 3가지 흡착등온식(Langmuir, Freundlich, Sips 모델)을 사용하여 미세플라스틱에서 Pb 흡착 거동을 나타내었다. BET 분석 측정결과, PVC의 경우 Group 3 > Group 2 > Group 1 순으로 PVC의 입자크기가 작을수록 비표면적이 크게 나타났으며, HDPE 비표면적 또한 비슷한 경향을 보였다. HDPE와 PVC에서 Pb의 흡착은 Langmuir 모델(R2 > 0.97)과 Freundlich 모델(R2 > 0.82)보다 Sips 모델(R2 > 0.98)이 흡착 거동을 설명하기에 가장 적합하였다. 최대흡착능(Qm) 상수는 입자크기가 작아질수록 흡착능이 높아지는 추세를 보였으며, 흡착세기(KF)와 흡착강도(n-1)는 각 플라스틱의 Group 3(HDPE KF = 0.028, PVC KF = 0.032; HDPE n-1 = 0.225, PVC n-1 = 0.547)에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 HDPE와 PVC에서 Pb의 흡착특성은 Sips모델로 설명이 가능했으며, 이에 따라 Pb 흡착과정에 복수의 흡착메커니즘이 작용하고 있음을 유추해볼 수 있었다. 미세플라스틱의 입자크기와 비표면적이 Pb 흡착량에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 미세플라스틱이 중금속을 흡착하여 생물체 내로 전이시킬 수 있는 매개체 역할의 가능성을 확인하였다.

Determination of the Optimum Sampling Area for the Benthic Community Study of the Songdo Tidal Flat and Youngil Bay Subtidal Sediment (송도 갯벌과 영일만 조하대 저서동물의 군집조사를 위한 적정 채집면적의 결정)

  • The optimum sampling area which can be applied to the benthic community study is estimated from large survey data in the Songdo tidal flat and subtidal zone of Youngil Bay, Korea. A total of 250 samples by 0.02 $m^2$ box corer for the benthic fauna in Songdo tidal flat and 50 samples by 0.1 $m^2$ van Veen grab in Youngil Bay were taken from the total sampling area of 5 $m^2$. It was assumed that the sampling area could contain sufficient information on sediment fauna, if cumulative number of species, ecological indices, and similarity index by cluster analysis reflect the similarity level of 75% to those found at total sampling area (5 $m^2$). A total of 56 and 60 species occurred from Songdo tidal flat and Youngil Bay, respectively. The cumulative curve of the species number ($N_{sp}$) as a function of the sampling area (A in $m^2$ ) was fitted as $N_{sp}=37.379A^{0.257}$ ($r^2=0.99$) for intertidal fauna and $N_{sp}=40.895A^{0.257}$ ($r^2=0.98$) for subtidal fauna. Based on these curves and 75% of similarity to the total sampling area (5 $m^2$), the optimum sampling area was proposed as 1.6 $m^2$ for the intertidal and 1.5 $m^2$ for the subtidal fauna. Ecological indices (species diversity, richness, evenness and dominance indices) were again calculated on the basis of species composition in differently simulated sample sizes. Changes in ecological indices with these sample sizes indicated that samplings could be done by collecting fauna from < 0.5 $m^2$-1.5 $m^2$ on the Songdo tidal flat and from < 0.5 $m^2$-1.2 $m^2$ in Youngil Bay. Changes in similarity level of all units of each simulated sample size showed that sampling area of 0.3 $m^2$ (Songdo tidal flat) and 0.6 $m^2$ (Youngil Bay) should be taken to obtain a similarity level of 75%. In conclusion, sampling area which was determined by cumulative number of species, ecological indices and similarity index by cluster analysis could be determined as 1.5 $m^2$ (0.02 $m^2$ box corer, n=75) for Songdo tidal flat and 1.2 $m^2$ (0.1 $m^2$ van Veen grab, n=12) for Youngil Bay. If these sampling areas could be covered in the field survey, population densities of seven dominant species comprising 68% of the total faunal abundance occurring on Songdo tidal flat and six species comprising 90% in Youngil Bay can be estimated at the precision level of P=0.2.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate landscape characteristics of watersheds in the Nakdong River Basin for identifying the groups of watershed with similar landcover patterns by using Geographic Information System and statistical technique. According to the results based on the cluster analysis using cluster analysis tool in the ArcGIS 8.3 program, 22 sub-watersheds were classified into three types; "Forest watershed", "Agriculture watershed", and "Urban watershed". In the forest watershed that has the least potential of ecological disturbances by human, a forest management approach based on geographic conditions and coverage types, etc., should be developed to sustain the ecological and environmental functions of forest. For the agriculture watershed, environmental-friendly agricultural techniques should be performed in the particular enhancement of riparian buffer zone to the prevent direct inflow of soils, fertilizers, and other chemicals into the stream network. Finally, in the urban watershed, an environmental-friendly plan that may increase the ratio of pervious surface and amount of green-space to should be reserved.

Method of Developing the Regional Ecological Network for Local Government using the National Ecological Network and the Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map (광역생태축과 국토환경성평가지도를 활용한 지자체 광역생태네트워크 구축 방안)

  • Large-scale unband development resulted from the rapid economic growth in the Republic of Korea has brought about the habitat destruction for the native animals and plants living in forest and farmland. In order to resolve this problem, it is necessary to consider the natural ecosystem as an organism and to preserve the natural ecosystem by managing ecologically significant habitat consistently. Especially, the local governments should be able to establish regional ecologic networks in consideration of the ecological connectivity and the environmental and ecological excellence, and to reflect them into the local development plans. In regard to this, the methods of the regional ecological network establishment was presented, making use of the results including the national ecological network which assessed the ecological connectivity of the nation and the environmental and ecological assessment results of the Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map which was designed to analyze and assess the national environmental and ecological values quantitatively. Making use of the case of Gyeongsangnam-do; the results presented that the existing national ecological network in the core region has expanded from $2,986km^2$ to $4,049km^2$ and the existing national ecological network in the buffer region has expanded from $2,940km^2$ to $3,006km^2$. Referring to the regional ecological network in the process of the local development plans could contribute to the increase in biodiversity and the integrated local environmental management including the ecosystem preservation.
